Charles E. Meyers was born in Texas on Dec 5, 1883. A few
years later, his parents moved to Sierra County New Mexico where
his siblings were born. He lived at home with his parents in
Hillsboro New Mexico until about 1906 when he married and
established his own household. He worked as a stock raiser. His
wife Dovie (Goins) died young from the flu when she was only 31
leaving him with five young daughters.
During the 1930's he worked for the WPA building the highway
over the mountains between Hillsboro and Silver City. He later
remarried a young woman named Iris.
