[Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper,
May 30, 1863 - C. Horton] Elopes With His Own Daughter. New York, Jan. 5 Joseph Gibson, a well-known citizen of Bergen Point, N. J., married a prominent lady on Christmas day, 1883, and a few months later a middle-aged woman and a girl 20 appeared and claimed Gibson as husband and father. Gibson finally arranged for the support of wife No. 1 and a daughter, while he continued to live with wife No. 2. Early last week wife No. 1 died and was buried by him. Yesterday wife No. 2 reported to the police that Gibson had absconded to Scotland, taking with him the daughter and every dollar he could secure, leaving her penniless.
