James J. Wilson, Esq., Postmaster at Trenton, N. J. and a member of the legislature of that state, lately, in a fit of delirium, conceiving his house to be on fire, threw himself out of a two story window, and by the fall broke both of his legs above the knees, and received other serious injury. His life is despaired of. N. Y. Eve. Post.

January 15, 1882

*Charles Hall, living in Lawrence township, cut a severe gash in his leg on Thursday, while cutting wood.
*We regret to hear of the serious illness of Mr. R.A. Drake, near this place. Hope he will soon be out again and visit our new office.
*Mrs. William S. Leigh has been confined to the house by severe illness, for the past five weeks.

January 18, 1882

*We are glad to announce that Miss Edwards, who has been seriously ill with inflammatory rheumatism is now improving somewhat. (submitted by Shauna Williams)


January 25, 1882

*Mr. John H. Piggott is able to be out again and attend to his business. (submitted by Shauna Williams)


March 1, 1882

*Mr. John Vierebome, of this place, is quite ill at present.

*Mr. and Mrs. James R. Voorhees wish to extend their thanks to their many kind neighbors and friends for the services rendered during their baby's sickness.

*The Emporium says: "Friday morning Michael Andrews, employed at Fisher & Norris's anvil factory, Trenton, met with a serious accident. He was caught in the shafting and hurled around several times. His clothes were torn completely off his person. When found he was lying on the floor naked. Dr. Coloman was at once summoned and attended to his injuries. He was considerably bruised about the body. He was then removed to his home on Furman street.

March 8, 1882-Thursday evening last William Stevenson, stock manager on T.B. Jackson's farm, near Mount Rose, had his lower jaw badly broken by being kicked by a horse. Dr. J.A. Miller, of this place, rendered medical assistance. (submitted by Shauna Williams)


March 22, 1882

*Mr. William Golden has a very sore hand, caused by running the tine of a pitchfork into it about three weeks ago. (submitted by Shauna Williams)


April 5, 1882-Last Friday Willie Golden, son of John N. Golden, was thrown from a horse and badly, but not seriously, hurt. (submitted by Shauna Williams)


May 17, 1882

*Seward Van Pelt, son of W.B. Van Pelt, was so severely afflicted with the tetter on his right hand, last week, that he had to carry it in a sling.

*Mrs. E.M. Phillips and her daughter, Mamie, met with quite a serious accident last Wednesday afternoon. They were trying to open a can of fruit when it bursted, the glass cutting their hands very badly.
