Philip Bergan
January 15, 1882-Philip Bergan, colored, died suddenly on Sunday morning from the effects of an apoplectic fit. He was entering the house when he fell and expired. He lived on Sourland Mountain.

February 22, 1882-Died-CONOVER-On Jan. 17th, 1882, at Harlingen, Kate M., wife of Charles S. Conover, in the 26th year of her age.

Rev. John Gardner
May 3, 1882-A tablet of white marble, in memory of the late pastor, has been placed in the reformed Church at Harlingen. The inscription reads: "In memory of Rev. John Gardner, for thirty six years the faithful pastor of the Harlingen church, born July 1st, 1844, died Oct. 20th, 1881. What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me."

Rudolph Hagaman
May 17, 1882-Rudolph Hagaman, living near Skillman Station, died very suddenly by Monday morning. He was busy spreading lime and had carted two loads, but just before starting with the third one he dropped dead.

Mrs. Phebe Williamson Hoagland
At Griggstown, N. J., Nov. 6, of pneumonia, Phebe Williamson, wife of the late Henry V. Hoagland, in the 75th year of her age, mother of J. Calvin Hoagland, and sister of Mrs. J. P. Hummer, both formerly of Henry.

Sarah Nevius
April 5, 1882-Miss Sarah Nevius, of Blawenburg, died a few days ago at the age of 80. She has been an invalid and has had the consumption for at least 35 years. [Submitted by Shauna Williams]

Ransom children
January 18, 1882-Two children of Thomas S. Ransom, of East Somerville, have died of scarlet fever during the past week and another one is now lying dangerously ill.

Mrs. John Shann
January 25, 1882-One of the oldest residents of Somerset, Mrs. John Shann, died at Rocky Hill last week, aged ninety-five years.

David Shipman
Death from a slight accident we learn, says the Somerset, N.J. Whig, that
David Shipman, of Mount Bethel, aged about 50 years, died on Wednesday last, from the effects of a cut upon one of his thumbs, accidentally made a few days previous in wheting a scythe. (The Ohio Statesman, August 13, 1845 submitted by Peggy Thompson)

Henry Stephens, Jr.
Morristown, N.J., April 26 -- Melancholy Occurrence
At the raising of a barn, at Vealtown, in Somerset county, on Saturday last, Mr. Henry Stephens, Jr., a respectable citizen of this township, in the prime of life, was instantly killed by the falling of some of the timbers. Two other persons were also considerably hurt; but we understand their injuries are not such as will be destructive of life or limbs.
