WHITE, Susan
Died from Intemperance
A rumor was current up town on Wednesday, that a woman named Susan White, residing at No. 280 West Seventeenth-street, had come to her death from receiving poison from her husband. The rumor probably arose from the fact that deceased had some money in the Bank, which she would not withdraw for the benefit of her better half. She also told her sister that if she ever died suddenly, she might attribute it to her husband. The rumor got afloat that the husband had administered laudanum, and he, afraid of the insinuations of the neighbors, fled. Coroner Wilhelm held an inquest upon the body, and after he had taken the testimony, and making a post mortem examination, it turned out that she dies from the effects of intemperance.
