Murderer, an Electrician, Said He Knew End Would Be Painless.
Auburn, N. Y. Dec. 13 —Nelson Boggiano, twenty-four years of age, was put to death in the electric chair at the Auburn prison to-day for the murder of Henry Bender at Buffalo June 29, 1903. Boggiano, who was an Italian, was infatuated with Bender's wife, and determined to get rid of the husband. While his victim slept, Boggiano crept into the house and fired two shots into him and slashed his throat until he had nearly decapitated him. Bender's wife gave the alarm which led to the murderer's arrest.
Boggiano was an electrician, and had said he had no fear of death in the chair, because he knew it would not hurt. He had also said that he and the public executioner belonged to the same union, and that he was willing to help a brother unionist.
