At the Dutchess county fair, Miss Julia Harrison, of Amenia, exhibited the finest imitation Leghorn hat, of her own manufacture, ever seen in this country.  She was offered for it one hundred and fifty dollars on the spot, but refused to sell at that price.  It is said that this ingenious young lady was busily occupied for ten weeks in the manufacture of this elegant article.  If she had sold it, she would have been paid for her labor at the rate of fifteen dollars a week, very tolerable wages these hard times. – Poughkeepzie, N.Y. paper [Gettysburg Compiler (Gettysburg, PA) December 4 1822  Page 4 - Submitted by N.
