CRONAN, Cornelius
Rev. C. J. Cronan Dies; Pastor of All Saints; Cardinal Hayes to Preside at High Mass of Requiem Monday, Divine Office Sunday.
The Rev. Corneall J. Cronan, pastor of All Saints` Roman Catholic Church, 47 East 129th Street,
died of heart disease yesterday as he was reading in the library of the rectory after luncheon.
He was 58 years old. Divine office will be chanted by a choir of priests in his church at 8 o`clock
Sunday evening. Cardinal Hayes will preside and give absolution at the high mass of requiem, also at All Saints, at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Father Cronan was born in Mount Morris, N.Y., on March 22, 1872. After preparing for the priesthood at St. John's Seminary in Troy he was ordained in 1893 by Bishop McQuay of Rochester. His first appointment was as assistant at the Church of the Sacred Heart in this city. In 1894 he went to St. Mary's Church in Rosebank, S.I., where he was assistant pastor for twenty-four years and pastor for eight years. On June 14, 1926, he succeeded Mgr. EISLER
Caledonia, Jan. 8. -- This morning at St. Columba rectory occurred the death of Mrs. Crescentia Eisler, aged 80 (?) years. She was born in Baden, Germany, coming to this country at the age of 20. Her entire life since has been spent in this section, having lived in Churchville, Rochester, and this village. Her latter days were spent largely with her son, Rev. George J. Eisler, rector of St. Columba Church. Besides her son, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Englerth, of Rochester, and Mrs. Eva LaCava, of New York. Caledonia, June 28. -- The death of Mrs. Eliza J., wife of the late John Galette Place, occurred at her home in this village yesterday of Consumption. Deceased was born in Mumford February 20, 1837, where she lived until about 1859, when she came to this village and where she has since resided. She was a member of the Baptist Church of Mumford. Five children survive her. Two daughters, Mrs. John F. Hines of Fairport, Miss Martha A. Place of Caledonia, and three sons, F. R. Place, H. L. Place of Caledonia and Frank Place of Cleveland, O; also two sisters, Mrs. Charles Hewes of Flint, Mich., and Mrs. Duncan Anderson of Waukesha, Wis., and one brother, Augustus B. Lewis of Pleasanton, Cal. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at half-past two o'clock in the First Presbyterian Church in this village. Rev. H. H. Barstow will officiate.
