The Daily
Messenger, Canandaigua NY, Friday, Jan 13 1922 BOYS ACCUSED IN
RUSHVILLE THEFT HELD IN ROCHESTER A Monroe
county grand jury is to consider the cases of Walter Hunt, 17, and Harold Finucane 18 both of Rochester, who were
arrested in that city for the alleged theft of an automobile belonging to
J.R. Hagaman. The cases of these
youth are the first of the kind in which boys under 20 years of age have
been implicated to go to the grand jury in Monroe county in a long time.
Past records of the youths is said to be the reason they are to be treated
more severely than other boys implicated in auto
theft. Hunt and Finucane are well known to
Ontario county authorities. On August 21, 1921, these boys were arrested
in Buffalo by George E. Clohecy, then
the under sheriff of Ontario county on complaint of Norman Fisher of Rushville. It developed that the youths
had taken a Ford automobile from Fisher’s barn, and accompanied by another
boy and a fifteen year old girl, both residing in Gorham, had taken a joy
ride to Rochester, Buffalo, Niagara Falls and other western points. Hunt
and Finucane were brought to the county jail here on August 21 and
released a few days later on bail. Their cases were considered by the
October grand jury but no indictments were returned owing to their youth
and the fact that relatives had settled with Mr. Fisher for damages to his
car.

Western Trader, captain Garney, arrived at this village, from Utica, with
a full freight of emigrants, consisting of eight families, in all 60
persons, who have come the distance of 150 miles, for the moderate sum of
$1.50 each: thus completely elucidating one of many important benefits of
the great western canal. – Rochester N.Y. Tel. Submitted by
