DR. SAMUEL W. BLOOM, died Tuesday (July 9, 1996). Survived by his wife, Dr. Sylvia Gray Bloom of Rochester, NY; son and daughter-in-law, William R. (Liliana) Bloom, Esq. of Miami, FL; daughter, Terry Edelstein of South Glastonbury, grandchildren, Philip and Serena Bloom, David Edelstein; sisters, Helen Rivlin of Falmouth, MA, Ethel Gorham of Westport; brother and sister-in- law, Ronald Bloom and Dolores King of New York City; many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his granddaughter, Deborah Edelstein. Funeral services will be held today, July 11 at 12 noon in the Benjamin Goldstein Chapel at Temple B'rith Kodesh, 2131 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may contribute to the Deborah Tracy Edelstein Scholarship Fund, Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT 05753 in his memory. ROCHESTER, NY - Barbara Black BROWN died Friday, January 1, 1999 in Rochester, New York was called by her creator to her heavenly home. She was predeceased by her husband, Irving.
Survivors include her two daughters, Beverly (Donald) McCullough of Rochester, NY, Sandra (P. Thomas) Brown of Ashland, Ohio; five grandchildren and one brother, William (Doris) Black of Texas.
Barbara was a member of BETA Sigma Phi Soroity and a Board member of Suffork County Teachers Federal Credit Union and The Statesville Womens Club in Statesville, NC.
Friends may call at the Leo M. Bean Funeral Home, Inc. 2771 Chili Ave. Rochester, New York Tuesday, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, at 10AM at the Funeral Home. Spring Interment at Maplehurst Cemetery, Hinsdale, New York.

Raleigh, NC--ROBERT P. CALLAHAN, 46, died Monday, December 13, 1999 at home. Bob was born in Rockaway Beach, NY, grew up in Orange Co. NY, and lived in Rochester before coming to Raleigh in July of this year. He was an IBM employee for 24 years. Bob was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer with the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Monroe Co., NY, and received their Personal Achievement Award in 1999. Bob was very passionate about helping fellow ALS patients understand the challenges which the disease brought, and how to live life to the fullest.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; daughter, Meghan of the home; sons, Dan of the home, Craig of Buffalo, NY; parents, Anne and Andrew Callahan of Monroe, NY; brothers, Dennis of Elizaville, NY and Kevin of Washingtonville, NY; sisters, Patricia Brier of New Canaan, CT, Eileen Lux of Goshen, NY, Geri Callahan of Orlando, FL; grandson, Brennen Callahan of Buffalo, NY.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated 3 p.m. Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 p.m. in the church parlor, prior to the service.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorials may be made to the ALS Association, 21021 Ventura Blvd. Suite 321, Woodland Hills, CA 91364. Arrangements by Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. (Rt. 70).

ROCHESTER, NY -- Bessie Lavine COHEN, age 95, died May 18, 1999. Survived by her loving daughters, Judith Corman, Freyda (Alan) Lazarus, Abbey (Saul) Rasnick; grandchildren, Aaron Corman, Gabriel and Joshua Lazarus, Scot Rasnick and Faith and Bob Ertischek and the apple of her eye, great grandchild, Lily Shoshana Ertischek. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 20, at 2 p.m. in Jewish Community Center Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. Following the funeral the family will receive friends at 43 Brookview Ave., Delmar. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 23 at 2 in the Rabbi Abraham Solomon Chapel at Temple Beth El, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may contribute to Women's American ORT, P.O. Morton, IL-- The Rev. James R. GEIL, 60, of 1070 E. Jackson St., Morton, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday (June 26, 2007) at his home.
He was born March 26, 1947, in Rochester, N.Y., a son of Robert and Marion Lackey Geil. He married Helen Robbins on April 10, 1976, in Alton.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Geil, Morton; three sons, Rob Geil, St. Louis, Mo., Tim Geil and fiancee Cindy Rademaker, and Nate Geil, both of Morton; two brothers, Ed (Becky) Geil, Macedon, N.Y., and Scott Geil, Palmyra, N.Y.; and two sisters, Ruth Kates, Naples, Fla., and Jackie Hackett, Palmyra, N.Y.
He graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo., in 1974, and was working on his master's degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Bradley; and he was a member of American Legion Post 318, in Morton.
A minister for 33 years, Jim served as a youth pastor in Hartford and Aurora, (IL). He then served as a senior pastor at churches in Bunker Hill,(IL); Union City, Ind.; Valparaiso, Ind.; Olney(IL); Hannibal, Mo.; Trenton, Mo.; and St. Louis. He had been the senior pastor at Morton Assembly of God since February of 2001.
Jim was a caring, loving husband to Helen. He took great pride in being involved and influential in the lives of his three sons. Through his sense of humor and love for people, he enjoyed fellowship with his congregations and friends. Even though he had a lot of trials and difficulties, he steadfastly served the Lord.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at his church, with the Rev. Larry Griswold and the Rev. Dennis Brannon officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, both at the church. Burial, with graveside military services, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is handling arrangements.

Batavia Herald, Kane County IL, Apr. 2, 1896:
Death of G. LINDSAY an Old Settler.
Mr. George LINDSAY, was born in 
Lima, Monroe County, N. Y., July 22, 1822.
He came to
Illinois in 1843, and settled in Warrenville, [Dupage County, Illinois] and moved to Batavia (Kane County, IL) in 1853, where he resided until his death, which occurred Friday, March 27, 1896. Three children are left to mourn his death. Funeral services were held, Sunday, from his late home, conducted by Rev. J. E. Bissell. The remains were laid to rest in the West Side Cemetery.

ROCHESTER, NY -- Katherine Isabel JORDAN, 68, of 400 Wellington Ave. died Friday at her home. She was born in High Point, NC on October 30, 1927. Mrs. Jordan was brought to Rochester in 1929 by her parents, Ruth Green Jordan and Dr. Anthony L. Jordan, one of Rochester's earliest African-American physicians.
She was educated at Howard University and Morgan State College and worked her entire career with the Monroe County Dept. of Social Services. She retired in 1984. Before and since her retirement, Mrs. Jordan pursued many social concerns, predominantly involving civil rights, equality and death penalty abolition. Recently, she was involved in historic preservation, particularly involving properties of historic minority citizens of the Rochester area.
Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Lydia Micheaux Marshall of Washington, DC, and Dr. Anne Micheaux Akwari of Durham; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Reynolds of Rochester, and Dr. Winifred J. Simmons of Kailua, Hawaii; and one brother, Dr. Herman C. Jordan of Teaneck, NJ.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 AM at St. Luke and St. Simon of Cyrene Episcopal Church, followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery.

ROCHESTER, NY - Raymond C. MASCHO, 86, of Rochester, NY died Feb. 5, 1999 at Strong Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Surviving: wife, Bettie Jo Mascho of the home; several cousins.

Plantation, FL--RICHARD GEORGE PASQUARELLA, 63, of Plantation, FL died Sunday, December 22, 1996. Mr. Pasquarella was born in Leroy, NY and lived in Rochester, NY until he moved ten years ago to Plantation, FL. He is survived by his wife, Lucielle Pasquarella of Deerfield Beach, FL; children, Carin (Richard) -Greenberg of Plantation, FL, Richard (Donna) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Nicholas of Rochester, NY, David of New Haven, Ct; mother, -Christine Paladino of Rochester, NY; brother, Joseph Pasquarella of NY; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Betty) DiCesare of Rochester, NY, Steve (Tina) Lewandowski of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Catherine DiCesare Smith; grandchildren, Michael, Lisa and David; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 26, 1996 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. For friends who may wish donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association, 1101 N. CLARENCE E. SEIPEL, formerly of Manchester, died in Rochester, NY, Sunday (July 25, 1999). He leaves his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, June and her husband Fred Kubli of San Diego, CA; son, Don and his wife Suzanne Seipel of Rochester, NY; granddaughters, Gretchen and her husband Jason Bye and Julie of Rochester, NY. Clarence graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, and served in World War II. Upon retirement, he worked in the engineering department of Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He was a member of the West Point Society of Conn. and Rotary. In 1991, he and his wife moved to Johns Arbor Dr., Rochester, NY. Memorial service and burial will be at West Point, NY.

Manley S. SHAFER, aged 65 years, of Brockport died at Brigham Hall Sunday. He had been at the institution several months. The remains were taken to Brockport for internment.
