MISS KATHARINE S. CLARK, OF MONTANA, TO WED DR. LEWIS R. MORRIS

  New York, March 14 Announcement is mad to-day of the engagement of Miss Katherine Satauffer Clark, the youngest daughter of United States Senator Clark, of Montana, to Dr. Lewis Rutherford Morris of this city.  Dr. Morris is a practicing physician in this city.  He was born in Morris, N.Y., and is a descendant of Lewis Morris, one of the signers of the declarations of independence.

CLARKE-GRIFFITHS

  Miss Alice Katherine Griffiths and Grant Clarke were married last evening at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Griffiths, 14 Hicks street.   The Rev. Dana W. Bigelow performed the ceremony.  The bride was attired in silver gray pongee, with white satin and lace trimmings.  Miss Abigail Thomas was bridesmaid. She wore gray English Chevlot, with pink satin trimmings.  The best man was Edward J. Clarke, nephew of the groom.  The groom is a well known young man in this city, and is employed in the custom tailoring department of John O. Thomas.  His bride is a popular young lady of West Utica.  After a trip through the western part of the State, they will be at home April 1st 14 Hicks street.

ROBERTS-OWENS

  Burton H. Roberts and Miss Margaret e. Owens were married last evening at 9 o’clock.  The Rev. W. B. Wallace performed the ceremony.  The bridesmaid was Miss Rossmond S. Roberts, sister of the groom and J. A. Owens acted as groomsman.  Mr. Roberts is an employe of the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad Company and is exceedingly popular with all who know him.  His bride is the daughter of Mrs. T. W. Owens of 59 Miller street, and is held in the highest esteem by a very large circle of friends.  All extend the newly wedded couple sincere congratulations and the best wishes for a long and happy life.  Mr. and Mrs. Roberts will be at home to friends after May 1.

  Ernest Diehl and Miss Grace Hughes, both of this city, were married by the Rev. D. W. Bigelow last evening at his residence.  Mr. Diehl is engaged in the grocery business on Steuben street.  Both he and his bride are well known and have the best wishes of many friends.

  In this city Tuesday, John Lawrence of Valley Mills and Miss Eva Mayer of Oneida were married by the Rev. Ralph W. Brokaw.  Misses A. B. Pomeroy and Annie Jones were the witnesses.  The groom is a farmer and his bride is the daughter of Van Rennsslaer and Elizabeth Ratnour Mayer of Oneida.

MCCORD-BRACKNEY

 

  Ashbert Irwin McCord of Syracuse, formerly of this city, and Miss Kittie Louise Brackney of Rome were married Thursday morning by Rev. C. E. Miller, pastor of the Liberty Street M. E. church, at the home of F. Midlam, 514 Floyd avenue.  Only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties were present.  After a short trip in the east the young couple will make their home in Syracuse.  The room, while in Rome, was employed as traveling salesman for A. Ethridge & Co.  The bride has always lived in Rome, and the good  wishes of the many friends of both go with them to their new home in the  city.

WAMELING - RAHN

POPULAR EAST UTICANS MARRIED THIS MORNING 

  Miss Gertrude I. Rahn of Albany Street Becomes Wife of Albert Wameling of South Street.

 

  A pretty wedding ceremony was performed at St. Mary’ Church at 7 o’clock this morning when Miss Gertrude Isabelle Rahn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rahn of 1003 Albany street, was unitted in marriage to Albert Wameling, son of Mrs. Elizabeth W. Wameling of 500 South street.  The Rev. Father  Joseph Lechner celebrated a nuptial mass.  Miss Lela Rahn, a sister of the bride, and Frank Wameling, brother of the groom, attended the couple.  The bride and her maid were charmingly attired in dark picture hats and each carried bouquets of pink carnations.

  Following the mass a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents, this being followed by a reception in which friends and relatives took part.  The living parlor of the home was decorated with flowers.

  After the reception the bride and groom left for an extended trip West during which they will visit various points of interest.  After July 1, Mr. and Mrs. Wameling will be home to their many friends at their newly furnished home at 912 South street.

  Mr. Wameling holds a position with the Gas & Electric Co.  Variety showers were given during the past week by Mrs. Mable Price of Rutger street and Mrs. Earl Lent of Hamilton street.

BROWN-SHELDON

 

  Florence E. Sheldon of Columbia Street Weds Robert T. Brown.

 

  Miss Florence E. Sheldon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Sheldon of Hudson and Albert T. Brown, jr., son of Albert Brown, 616 Whitesboro street were quietly married last night at 5:30 o’clock at the First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Ralph W. Brokaw.  They were attended by Levi Crouse, a relative of the groom and Miss Anna M. Orr.  The bride was charmingly attired in a traveling suit of grey with a picture hat to match and carried a bouquet of roses.  Her maid of honor wore blue velvet with picture hat to match and carried carnations.  Mr. Brown serviced six years in the United States Navy, having seen service in the World War on the U.S.S. Tennessee.  He was with the party who rescued the trapped passengers in the balloon O-427 when it came to grief n the Atlantic ocean during the war.  He is employed at the Globe Woolen mills as a weaver.  The bride has been living at 232 Columbia street, which will be their future home at the conclusion of a wedding trip.  They have the wishes of a host of friends here and in Hudson.

 MEACHAM-WATSON

 

  West Utica Young Couple Were Wedded This Morning.

  Miss Margaret C. Watson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Watson, 2127 Schuyler street, and James H. Meacham, 1127 Schuyler street, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Meacham of Adams, Mass., were married at 10 o’clock this morning in Centenary M. E. Church, the Rev. E. H. Scott performing the ceremony.  They were attended by Miss Gladys Harvey and Thomas Watson, a brother of the bride.  The bride wore a gown of Harding blue organdie with a hat to match and carried white roses.  Miss  Harvey wore pink organdie with a hat to match and carried pink roses.

  After a luncheon at the home of the bride Mr. and Mrs. Meacham left for Thousand Islands by motor.  They will live at 1127 Schuyler street.  Mr. Meacham is a boilermaker employed by the New York Central railroad.  His bride has been employed in the Oneida Knit ting Mill.  She was the guest of honor at several showers.  That their wedded life may be happy and prosperous is the wish of all who know the young couple.

KIEFFER-CORSETTE

 

  Yorkville, June 14-Miss Katherine R. Corsette, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Corsette, and George E. Kieffer of Rome, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro, this morning at 7:30 o’clock, a nuptial mass being celebrated by the Rev. Father W. H. Sleven.  The attending couple were Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Corsette, of Utica.

  The bride is a popular and well known young woman and has a host of friends here, who will extend best wishes for the futures.  The couple left for a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and other points in the Western part of the State.  On their return they will make their home in Utica.

  Miss Stella K. Moss, a daughter of Mrs. Mary Moss, 1534 City street, was married to William M. Dolan, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dolan, 133 Addington place, at 7 o’clock this morning in St. Joseph’s Church.  Attending the couple were Miss Irene Moss, a sister of the bride, and Michael O’Mahoney.  After a breakfast at Bagg’s Hotel, Mr. and Mrs. Dolan left for an Eastern trip.  They will live at 1210 West avenue.

  The wedding of Miss Edna E. Carver and Louis D. Ray, both of 717 Rutger street, took place yesterday afternoon at the residence of the officiating clergyman, the Rev. H. E. Waugh of 138 Eagle street.  They were unattended and left directly after the ceremony for Los Angeles, where they will spend considerable time.

BETTS-FIRSCHING

 

  Miss Grace Firsching, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Firsching, 1399 Whitesboro Street, and John Betts, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Betts, Ridgewood, N.H. will be married this morning at 10 in St. Joseph’s rectory by Father Sylvester.

  Mrs. Robert Firsching sister in law of the bride and Kenneth Calken will attend the couple.

  The bride is wearing a dutchess style gown of white satin trimmed with seed pearls.  She will carry roses and lily of the valley.  The matron of honor is wearing blue and carrying a bouquet of roses.  Mrs. Firsching will wear green velvet with a corsage of sovereign roses.  Mrs. Betts, mother of the bridegroom, is wearing royal blue with a corsage of Johanna Hill roses.

  A reception will follow the ceremony at the Yahnundasis Golf Club.  The couple will leave for a New York trip and will make their home in Union City, N. J.

TRAXELL-BERGER

 

  Miss Lois Berger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albin Berger this city, was married at noon Saturday to Joseph E. Traxell, Albany, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Traxell, of Rome.

  The ceremony was performed in the rectory of Our Lady of Lourdes Church by the Rev. James F. Collins, in the presence of relatives and a few close friends.

  The bride’s attendant was her sister, Miss Florence Berger.  The bridegroom’s brother, T. Carleton Traxell, of Rome, was best man.

  Following the ceremony, a luncheon was served at Hauf’s for the bridal party and families, after which an informal reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.

  Later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Traxell left by motor for New York City and Long island.  They will reside at 122 South Main Avenue, Albany.

  Prenuptial events were given by the Misses Becky Benner, Ruth Zwahlen, Ethelyn Shoemaker and Lynn Jones and by the Madams Graham Gardiner, Stanley Miller, Howard Halpin, Walter Martin, all of Utica, and Mrs. Harry Hayes and Mrs. T. Carleton Traxell of Rome.  The bride was also entertained by her office associates.

  Miss Ellen Burdick, Utica, daughter of Charles h. Burdick, Frankfort, and Mitchell Kane, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Kane, Herkimer Road, were married Saturday morning at 10 at Our Lady of Lourdes rectory by the Rev. Francis Fournier.

  Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Hicks, Mohawk, sister and brother- in- law of the bride attended the couple.

  After a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada, the couple will reside at the home of the groom’s parents.  Mr. Kane is manager of the Valley View service station in West Schuyler.

  Mrs. Hannah Phillips of Marcy announces  the marriage of her daughter, Ruth Elizabeth Phillips, to Arthur J. Hughes, son of John J. Hughes, 1201 State Street.

  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Roy T. Henwood, pastor of the Methodist Church, Sherborne, in the parsonage.

  Mrs. Helen Henwood and Orin Bigelow, both of that place, were attendants.

  The couple will live in Worcester, Mass., where the groom is employed.

  The bride is a graduate nurse of Faxton Hospital, class of 1928 and has since been employed by the Utica Visiting Nurses Association.

MISS MARY KERNAN AND GILBERT BUTLER WED AT ALDER CREEK

 

  Miss Mary Kernan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis K. Kernan of Utica, and Gilbert Butler, also of Utica, were married on Saturday the 19th of October at Springbank Alder Creek, the country home of the bride.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Thomas F. McNeill of Boonville.

  The bride who was given in marriage by her father had as her only attendant Miss Elizabeth Butler, daughter of the groom Francis Kernan Jr., New York, a brother of the bride was the best man.

  Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held for members of the two families and a few other close relatives.

HUGHES-TYLER  

  Miss Lilymae E. Tyler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellery E. Tyler, 1101 State Street, and John R. Hughes of Utica and New York were married at the home of the bride, Thursday night at 8 in the presence of relatives of the couple.  The Rev. Robert Killain officiated.  Frank Francisco was train bearer.

  The matron of honor was Mrs. James Daniels.  The bridesmaids were Miss Celia Lindacher and Mrs. Fred Shero of Syracuse.  Fred J. Shero of Syracuse was best man, James Daniels and Edwin Smith were the ushers.  After the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served.

  The couple will be at home after an eastern trip at 563 Fairview Avenue, Riverside, N.J.  Mr. Hughes is connected with the Century mills Inc. at Riverside.

  Pre-nuptial parties were given by Mrs. Fred Shero and Mrs. Ralph Baynton, Syracuse, Gamma Sigma Sorority, Miss Celia Lindacher, Mrs. James Daniels and Mrs. E. E. Tyler.

  Miss Angeline Winkler, 212 Culver Avenue, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Winkler, and Louis Peter Stettner, 304 Blandina Street, son of Louis Stettner Sr., were married at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony of Padua Church.

  The Rev. Nasarene Gambini, pastor, performed the ceremony.

  The bridesmaid was Victoria Scalso and the best man Salvatore Scalso.

  A reception took place at the  bride’s home.  Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Shaw of Chadwicks.  After a trip to Florida the couple will live at 54 Root Street, New Hartford.

ZASA-FORNADO  

  Miss Elizabeth Fornado, 503 Third Avenue and Dominick Zasa, 787 Jay Street, were married at 10 Saturday in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, the Rev. Joseph Berton officiating.

  The bridesmaid was Mary Capatorts and the best man, Fred Russo.  Other attendants were Mary Antonelli, Mariano Scalso, and Mrs. Carmen Caramonica.  After a reception at 403 Third Avenue the couple left for New York.

  Prenuptial events included a shower given by the three attendants of the bride.  The couple will live at 727 Jay Street.

  The bride is a daughter of the late Mrs. Joseph Fornado and the bridegroom a son of Mrs. Savario Zasa.

WOJTANOWSKI-ZAWISLAN 

  Miss Anna M. Zawislan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zawislan,  New Hartford and Frank J. Wojtanowski son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wojtanowski, Wager Street where married yesterday afternoon at 1:45 in Holy Trinity Church.

 The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Michale Desluk pastor.  Miss Victoria Murpin was maid of honor and Anthony Salar best man.  Other attendants were the Madame Alma Zawislan, Jenny Janus, Josephine Wojtanowski and Victoria Cummings and Frank Nogs, Walter Statko, Walter Zawislan and Stefan Ordiowski.

  The bride wore white satin and gardenias and her going away costume was russet suit and matching hat.  After a reception attended by several hundred friends in Red Man’s Hall, the couple left on a eastern trip.

  The bride has been employed in the Schuyler Street mill of the Utica Knitting Company.  The bridegroom is a well known heavy weight boxer, his ring name being Frankie Wolanski.  He was chief sparring partner for Joe Louis in Louis’ preparations for the Max Schmeling fight and since then has been associated with Michael Can?well, nationally known trainer.

  James F. Smith of 1647 Erin Street announces the marriage of his daughter, Sally Smith to Paul C. Pages of Schenectady Oct. 2, in New York.

  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Randolph Ray in the little Church Around the Corner.  After a motor trip to Virginia Beach Mr. and Mrs. Pages will reside at 3 State Street, Schenectady for the winter.

BERGER-GILINSKY 

  Miss Pearl Gilinsky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hymen Gilinsky, 1026 Court Street, and Irving Berger, 107 Standard Avenue, Syracuse were married yesterday afternoon in the Marvin Building.  The Rev. Albert H. Doigoff House of Israel, officiated.

  Miss Bernice Berger, sister of the bridegroom, and Leon Gilinsky brother of the bride were attendants.  A dinner and reception followed the ceremony, more than 50 guests from Syracuse attending.

  The couple left for Bermuda.  The will make their home in Syracuse where Mr. Berger is a wholesale fruit dealer.
