Mrs. Dorcella A. Eaves, wife of James P. Eaves, died at her home near South Canisteo Friday morning after a short illness, aged 58 years and 5 months. She had been a resident of this village for several years and was an active member of the Women's Relief Corps. She was a native of the town of Jasper and is survived by her husband and one son, and five daughters, Mrs. Susie Steadman of Galeton, Pa., Mrs. Blanche Knapp of  Coneville, Pa., Mrs. Adelia Burcharda and Mrs. Gertrude Broughton of South Canisteo, Mrs. Elizabeth Butler of Jasper and Wm. H. Eaves of West Branch, Pa. She had been an invalid for several years and was a faithful Christian. The funeral was held yesterday from the Gulley Church. Rev. J. L. Box and Rev. J. H. Cheesman, officiating. Burial was made in the Gulley Cemetery.

OBITUARY NOTES.

     Gen. Francis E. Erwin died at his home near Painted Post, N.Y., yesterday morning, after nine days’ illness, aged 84 years. He was the oldest resident of the place. He was a lifelong Democrat of the Jefferson and Jackson school, and was elected to the Legislature in 1841 and 1842. He had held all military offices in the State Militia from the rank of Corporal to General except that of Captain.
