ALFRED W. "BUTCH" DAILEY

Alfred W."Butch" Dailey, age 44, of Claibourne St. East Liverpool, Ohio passed away at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Saturday, March 5, 2005. He had been ill since July of last year. 

He was born in East Liverpool on December 3, 1960, the son of JoAnne (Snyder) Dailey of East Liverpool and the late Albert Dailey.   Alfred had lived most of his life in this area, working in Maintenance with the Dynatech Floor Cleaning Co. and prior to that he worked as a Landing Man with the Grimm Rivertowing. He was a graduate of the Salliasaw High School in Oklahoma.   Alfred enjoyed camping, playing bingo and watching deer graze in the area. 

Survivors include his wife, Elma K. (Plum) Dailey, whom he married on July 26, 2004. Three sons, Todd Hawthorne, Brandon Plum, and Jeremy Keyes all of East Liverpool. One daughter, Amanda Keyes of East Liverpool, One brother, Gerald A. Dailey and his wife, Jonla, of East Rochester, Ohio, three sisters, Mary Dailey Johnson and her husband, Jack, and Brenda Dailey James and her husband, Jessie, both of Neodesha, Ks., and Teresa Dailey of East Liverpool. Three grandchildren, Kourtni Gregory at Home and Morgan Bates and Shane Hawthorne both of East Liverpool. And several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dailey. 

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 1:30 pm with Stanley Neuenschwander of the Hebron Conservative Mennonite Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.

CARLTON DENZIL DAVIS

CARLTON "DENZIL" DAVIS - 9 Apr 1991 – Carlton "Denzil" Davis, 65, of East Liverpool, died April 9. He was born Dec. 13, 1925, in St. Marys to Rymer and Blanche Fetty Davis. He was retired from the Murray Trucking Co. and had lived in East Liverpool for 37 years. He was a veteran and a member of Friendship Gospel Tabernacle. He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Helton of East Liverpool, Connie Handy of St. Marys, Kathy Durk of East Palestine, and Debra Moore of East Liverpool; two sons, Denzil "Sonny" Davis and Ricky Davis of East Liverpool; two sisters, Mrs. Loma Delong of Weirton and Mrs. Wanda Meeks of St. Marys; two brothers, Paul Davis of St. Marys and the Rev. Vaughn Davis of Follansbee; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian Yost Davis, who died Dec. 12, 1987. Services were Friday at Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery.

JACK H. DAVIS

EAST PALESTINE — Jack H. Davis, 76, of 435 West Clark St., passed away at approximately 2:00 p.m. Friday on SR 14 near Columbiana, after being involved in a automobile collision.

Jack was born June 17, 1930 in Beaver Co., PA, a son of the late William J. and Rachel Burns Davis, and had resided in the East Palestine area for most of his adult life. Jack had worked for various companies in the automotive field, and most recently had been employed with Triple L Trucking, until his retirement.

He was a member of the Cannelton Baptist Church, Darlington.

Jack is survived by his wife, the former Sara "Sally" Butler, whom he married February 1, 1950; and two sons, John (Bonnie) Davis, East Palestine, and Tom (Beth) Davis, Groveport. He also leaves three grandchildren, Sean (Tiana) Davis, Kate (Dan Gilson) Davis, and Rachel Stenseth.

A daughter, Jacqueline Stenseth, and a brother, William R. Davis, preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, with his pastor, Rev. Dale Regner, officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 6:00 to 9:.m. Monday.

LILLIAN E. YOST DAVIS

Lillian E. Davis, 58, of Ohio Ave., East Liverpool, OH, died Saturday at the City Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Pleasants County, a daughter of the late Noah Yost and Delia Deeter Yost. She lived in East Liverpool for the past 34 years and was a member of the Friendship Gospel Tabernacle.

She is survived by her husband, Carlton Denzil Davis; two sons, Denzil "Sonny" Davis and Ricky Davis, both of East Liverpool; four daughters, Pamela Helton of East Liverpool, OH, Mrs.James (Connie) Handey of Midland, PA, Mrs. James (Kathy) Durk of East Palestine, OH, Mrs. Gary(Debra) Moore of Louisville, KY; two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Ruth) Myers of Belleville, and Nora Mae Collins of Ellenboro; 15 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2pm Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Burial in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Samuel Daniels

 County Auditor, Marion; born near New Alexander, Ohio , May 15, 1839; lived in Ohio until the Spring of 1846, when he came with his parents to Linn Co., Iowa; first located on Indian Creek, near what is now called Bertram; his father, Jeremiah Daniels , is now engaged in the milling business at Bertram. Samuel Daniels enlisted May 5, 1861, as a private, in Co. K, 1st I. V. I.; received wounds which resulted in the loss of his right leg, at the battle of Wilson Creek, Mo., Aug. 10, 1861. He then returned to this county, and for three years was agent for the C., N. & N. W. R'y Co., at Bertram; also Postmaster at the same place for the same period; came to Marion in the Spring of 1865. He held the position of Deputy Recorder for eleven years; was elected County Auditor in 1875, and assumed the duties of that office in January, 1876; he was also Deputy U. S. Revenue Collector for this district for two or three years—from July 19, 1869, until the position was abolished. He married Mary E. Hayzlett Nov. 27, 1873; she is a daughter of John G. Hayzlett , who is one of the early settlers and prominent citizens of this county; they have two sons— Charles E. , born Jan. 19, 1875, and one infant.
