Illness Claims Wife
Rites
Slated Tuesday for Mrs. B. F. Sayre
Mrs.
Sarah Elizabeth Sayre, wife of Ben F. Sayre of Zanesville and a former
resident of East Liverpool, died Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Rocky Glenn
Sanitarium at McConnelsville, following a six-year illness. She
was 73.
Mrs.
Sayre was born Feb. 9, 1877, a Proctor, W. Va., a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jeff Leighue. She lived in East Liverpool for about 12 years,
going to Zanesville about six years ago. She was a member of the
Second Christian Church while a resident of East Liverpool and also the
Ladies of the Macabees.
Mrs.
Sayre leaves two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Commins and Mrs. Ethel McCutcheon
of Zanesville; two sons, Rex Sayre of Wellsville and Clayton Sayre of
East Liverpool; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Kleigler and Mrs. Eliza Kress
of Toledo, and Mrs. Ellen Browning of Gilbert, W. Va.,; 15 grandchildren
and 10 great grandchildren.
The
body was brought today to the Kelly Funeral Home, where rites will be
held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. by Rev. D. Park Chapman of the First Church
of Christ. Burial will be in the Columbiana County Memorial Park.

MABEL
I. SHAFFER
Mabel
I. Shaffer 94, of Calcutta, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2006
at The Medical Center in Beaver, Pennsylvania following a brief Illness.
She was the daughter of the late Arch and Georgianna (Bell) Shaffer,
born on July 11, 1911 in East Liverpool, Ohio. A life long area
resident, Miss Shaffer retired in 1976 from the Homer Laughlin China
Company, where she worked as a decorator and did brushing for 30 years.
She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1929 and was a member
of the Old Guard and at one time she sold Avon and belonged to the
Friendship Quilting Club. She was a member of Longs Run Presbyterian
Church, where she belonged to the Hanna Circle.
Miss Shaffer is survived by a nephew, Samuel K. Shaffer II and his wife
Pam, of Calcutta, a sister-in-law, Louise Shaffer of Calcutta and a
great-niece, Kimberly Shaffer of Calcutta
She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel K. Shaffer on January 9,
2006
Serviced will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean
Altmeyer Funeral Home on Wednesday, Match 15, 2006 at 11:00 AM with
Elder Tom Enochs of the church, officiating.
Burial will be in United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral Home in
Calcutta today, Tuesday, March 14, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to
8:00 PM.

MARGARET
SHIMMONS
Services for Mrs.
Margaret Shimmons, former resident of New Somerset, will be held
Wednesday afternoon at 3 from the Merele Owens Funeral Home in
Cleveland, with burial in Whifehaven Cemetery there.
Mrs. Shimmons
died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Shafer of
Euclid.
A daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wilson, she was born at New Somerset,
where she resided until going to Cleveland 35 years ago.
She also is
survived by two sisters, Mrs. W.J. Rhuark and Mrs. Harry Myers or
Wellsville; two brothers, Frank Wilson of Chester, and Elwod Wilson of
Clarksburg W. Va and several nephews and nieces.

NICHOLAS
S. SKRINJAR
Nicholas
S. Skrinjar of Pine Hollow Road, Rogers, died on Saturday, January 19,
2002, from injuries he received in an auto accident near Rogers.
He
was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on November 9, 1983, the son of
Stephen J.and Marcie (Thompson) Skrinjar of Rogers.
Nick
was a Senior at Beaver Local High School where he was a member of the
the Varsity Baseball Team, the National Honor Society, R.O.T.C. and
the R.O.T.C. Rifle Team and the Future Farmers of America. He had also
been a member of 4 H for 9 years most recently belonging to the
Country Hands 4 H Club. He had attended the First Evangelical
Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool and the Networking Technologies
Class at Kent State University. Nick was also a former member of the
Beaver Local Band and had been employed at the Rollerplex in Glenmoor.
In
addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Noah S. Skrinjar
at home, his Maternal Grandparents, Donald and Mary Eleanor Thompson
of Calcutta, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceeded
in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Frank and Barbara Skrinjar.
Services
will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer
Funeral Homes on Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at 11:00 AM with Rev.
James Thomson of the Church officiating. Burial will follow in the
Calcutta United Presbyterian Cemetery.

EMMET
E. SMELTZ
LISBON,
July 19 (Special)-- Services for Emmet E. Smeltz, former employee
of the Columbiana County School System, were held today from the Calvary
Presbyterian Church in Cleveland.
Principal
of John Adams High School there, he died Monday of a heart
ailment. He was 63.
Mr.
Smeltz left here for Cleveland in 1923. Previously he was superintendent
at Bergholz and district school superintendent in Carroll county.
He is
survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaretta Minsel Smeltz, two daughters, a
son, four sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.

CHARLES
E. SMITH
SIGNAL,
July (Special)-- Charles E. Smith, 84, a blacksmith here for a number
of years, died Sunday at 6:05 a.m. at the home of a son, Joseph Smith,
in Edinburgh, where he had made his home for the last year.
Mr.
Smith, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Smith, was born April 17,
1866, in Waldo, Marion County. His wife, Barbara Vogle Smith,
preceded him in death. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in
New Lyme, Ahstabula County.
Surviving
are four other sons, Charles J. Smith of Lima, Edward Smith and
Richard Smith of Signal; for daughters, Mrs. Tillie O'Dell of
Portsmouth, Mrs. Theresa Lynch of Cincinnati, Mrs. Stella of Rhunock
of Lima and Mrs. Thelma Hilliard of Ambridge, Pa.; three brothers,
Edward Smith and John Smith of Marian and Frank Smith of Petersburg
and Theodore Smith of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Isa Vick of
Huntington, Tenn.; 30 grandchildrne and several grandchildren.
Services
will be held at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday from the Warrick Funeral Home in
Columbiana by Rev. Earl C. Brookes of the Rogers Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the East Parma Cemetery, near Rogers. Friends
may call at the funeral home tonight.

NELLIE SMITH
Services will be
held Thursday for Mrs. Nellie Smith, 83, of Canton, former Wellsville
resident, who died Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Extended Care Center
here.
Born at Marietta
June 1, 1864, she was a daughter of Henry Smith Terry* and Rebecca
Jane Barnhart Terry*, Her husband died in 1958.
She had resided
at Canton for 20 years and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include
a brother, Lester Pearl Perry of Hillcrest, Wellsville.
Services will be
held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Haugh Funeral Home in Wellsville by a
representative of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial will be in
Springhill Cemetery.
Friends may call
tonight at the funeral home.

O. - July 17- Funeral Services will be held here tomorrow for Ralph R.
Speak, 60, a municipal judge since 1932. He died Saturday night after a

ELIZABETH
STAMM
Services
have been held for Miss Elizabeth Stamm of near near Los Angeles, a
former city resident who died June 13 at a Los Angeles hospital
following a stroke. Burial followed at California.
She
was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Stamm and had resided in
California about 18 years.
She is
survived by two brothers, John Stamm of LaMeds, Calif., and Innis Stamm
of Michigan.

City Treasurer John Stamm, died early yesterday morning in her home on
Ohio Avenue. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Mrs.
Stamm, who had been a resident of this city for about forty years, was
born in Mechanicstown, Ohio, spending her youth in Carroll County,
Until her death she was a member and active worker in the Second
Presbyterian church here.
Besides
her husband, the deceased is survived by the following children: Gypsy
and G. B. K. Stamm, residing at home; Mrs. J. W. McCain, of Rochester
Pa.; Miss Elizabeth Stamm, of Columbus, Ohio. The following
brothers and sisters also survive; Samuel and John Andrews, Mrs. James
Timlim, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkins and Sherman Andrews, all living in
Carroll County.
Funeral
Services will be held from the late residence tomorrow afternoon.

"Scotty" Stewart, 72, night watchman at the Stevenson Foundry
Co. for 24 years, died at 12:10 a.m. today at his home, 213 Aten Ave.,
Wellsville, after a three-month illness of complications.
He
is survived by his widow, Mrs. May Stewart, at home, and a sister, Mrs.
Sarah Burns of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Services
will be held at the Haugh Funeral Home Wednesday at 1 p.m. by Rev.
Charles A. Smith of the United Presbyterian Church.
