Raymond L. Yingling, age 74, of Sandusky, OH, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at his residence in Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 8, 1935 in Carey, OH to Robert and Adefern (Laney) Yingling. He married Phyllis J. Vaughn on June 8, 1957, and she survives.
Mr. Yingling served his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1953-1956.
He worked as a Major with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 31 years, until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Provost Unit and Science Lodge.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Yingling, Sandusky, OH;a  son, Joseph V. (Judith A.) Yingling, Sandusky, OH; twin sisters, Lana (Tom) Egbert, Mt. Blanchard, OH and Leah (Danny) Cutchell, Sycamore, OH; brothers, Richard (Judy) Yingling, St. Louis, MO and Dennis (Karen) Yingling, Carey, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Adefern Yingling and son, Jeffery Ray Yingling in 1976.
Family and friends may call on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 6:00 p.m.—9:00 p.m. in the Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the Columbus Ave. United Methodist Church, 2401 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Barbara Stephens-Rich will officiate. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice, Fremont, OH.

Bucyrus, O., March 5 - Marvin C. Cosgrove, 92, one of Bucyrus' last two civil war veterans, died of infirmities of age yesterday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. F. W. Kehrer of Bucyrus. He was born May 3, 1847 in Webster, N. Y., son of Stephen and Hannah Hiler Cosgrove. Until several months ago Mr. Cosgrove was unusually active for a man of his years and particularly enjoyed attending motion picture shows.

He enlisted in the Union army on March 13, 1864 with Co. C., O. V .I. and served two years as a private. A year ago last summer he attended the G. A. R. and Confederate soldiers' reunion at Gettysburg, Pa. The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wise funeral home. Burial will be made in Nevada cemetery.
