Herbert J. Grilliot, 78, of Versailles, died at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 26, 2003, at his residence.
 He was born Nov. 13, 1924, in Darke County, to Herman and Vena Francis Grilliot. On June 18, 1949, he married Jean Bernholt who survives.  Also surviving are four sons,  a daughter,  two brothers,  two sisters, and nine grandchildren.  A dairy and grain farmer in Darke County, he also owned and operated a milk hauling business. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the American Legion Post of North Star, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Greenville, and the Farmers Union.
 Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the church cemetery.  Calling is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, and after 9 a.m.  Thursday at the church.

Phillip B. McClain, 79, of Greenville, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Bellefontaine on July 22, 1930, a son of the late Herbert and Zellah (Bailey) McClain. He also was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Donald Hall; brothers, Herbert Don McClain, John A. McClain and James R. McClain; and a sister, Joan Williams.  He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a son, three grand-daughters, a grandson, two step-granddaughters, a step-grandson, one great-step-grandson, brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. Phillip was the owner and operator of the Ice Cream Kitchen in Greenville until 1971 and was a tool and die designer for Ex-cell-o Corp. in Greenville and Kindell Tool and Die Inc. in Laura.He was a member of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. Pastor Samuel Hoeflich conducts a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenville Cemetery, New Section, Greenville, where the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard conducts a military service. Visitation is from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Heartland Hospice.
