Norman Riffett Sr.
Norman Riffett Sr., 86,
a Clairdon resident since 1958 and a World
War II U.S. Navy veteran who served on the
USS Pledge, died July 17 at his home.
He was born in
Cleveland and worked in maintenance at the
General Motors Coit Road plant in
Cleveland until his retirement in 1986
after 31 years.
Mr. Riffett is survived
by his wife of 57 years, Irene Riffett, of
Clairdon; sons, Norman Jr. (Pam) and
Harold, of Clairdon, and Dennie (Mary Ann)
Riffett, of Brenhan, Texas; daughters,
Gwendolyn (Emmett) Watts, of Detroit,
Alice (Russell) Brumfield, of Branchland,
W.Va., and Sandy Fisher and Donna (Don)
Slife, of Chardon; siblings, Herb and
Everett Estep and Jewell Watts; 15
grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by siblings,
Melvin and Jack Riffett, Ollie Tackett,
Alice Vance and Bud Estep.
Burial with military honors was at Chardon
Christian Fellowship.

Helen L. Davison
Helen L. Davison, 89,
of Burton, a World War II veteran who
became one of the area's first female
real-estate brokers, died June 23 at
Geauga Medical Center.
Daughter of the late
Vernon and Elizabeth Howells, she was born
Jan. 17, 1921, in Youngstown. In
addition to her real-estate career, she
was an antiques dealer and owned a store
in Burton.
Mrs. Davison is
survived by her son, Ron Davison, of
Staten Island, N.Y.; one grandchild; and
one great-grandchild.
Burial was at Middlefield Cemetery.
