OIL MAN IS FOUND SHOT THROUGH HEAD IN WICHITA HOTEL

Fred Hilty, 38 years old and for three years, a resident of El Dorado , is in a critical condition in St. Francis hospital in Wichita , as the result of a self inflicted revolver wound. Hilty was found by a hotel maid in a room at the Milton rooms at noon Saturday. Hilty has been operating a string of tools for his brother, Lee R. Hilty, an oil field contractor and lived in El Dorado until a few months ago.

When found the wounded man was lying in a pool of blood, a bullet wound in his head. In the room was a hastily scrawled note to his brother which read: I done this. Forgive me. The amount of blood in the room lends to the belief that Hilty had been shot for some time before he was found.

Hilty came to Kansas from Findlay , Ohio , three years ago. (Walnut Valley Times, March 10, 1919)
