| Lebanon, Ore. – George Ross, a prominent farmer of this
vicinity, died at the farm home two miles north of Lebanon, May 10. Mr.
Ross was born at Cadiz, Ohio, September 24, 1840, and had been a
resident on the farm on which he died for 30 years. He came to Oregon in
1875, and first settled at Milwaukee, where he resided for a few years.
He was a veteran of the civil war, having enlisted in July, 1861, in the
Second Illinois cavalry. At Holly Springs, Mississippi, in 1863, he was
seriously wounded in battle. In 1865 he was married to Ida F. English at Bloomington, Ill. She died December 27, 1907. He leaves five sons and one daughter, Frank E., Will H., Charles V., and George E. of Lebanon, and Mrs.Ida May Simonds of Clearwater, Kan. Submitted by Shauna Williams & Robyn Greenlund |
