Funeral services for Thomas R. Ferguson, 55, of Huntsville Route 1, who died at 12:30
p.m. Saturday at his residence, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Van Horn funeral home here. Burial will be
in Huntsville cemetery. Ferguson, formerly of Detroit, has resided near Huntsville only a short time. He is survived
by his widow, Mary, and two daughters, Mrs. Marian Miller and Miss Jo Ann Ferguson, both of Huntsville; three sons
William H. now serving overseas, Raymond and Lawrence both of Huntsville; his mother, Mrs. Clayanna (Myers) Ferguson,
and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Campbell, both of Springfield, and two grandchildren. The body will remain at the
funeral home.

Mrs. Eliza V. Miller, 83, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, mrs. Goldie
Shades, Huntsville, following a short illness. Mrs. Miller is survived by the following children, Mrs. Edna Buck,
Delbertsdale, Ala., Noleman Miller, Highland, Ind., Everett Miller, Detroit, Mich., Otto Miller, Fordsville, Ky.,
and Mrs. Goldie Shades, Huntsville Route 1. There are also three brothers, Joseph, Benjamin and Bellamy of Whiteville,
Ky, There are 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The body will remain at the Van Horn funeral home in Lakeview
from where it will be sent to Fordsville, Ky., for burial.

Funeral services for Lt. Alvin Hull, 21, who was killed in an airplane crash at Gardner
Field, Calif., Jan. 7, will be held in the Lakeview Methodist church at 3 p.m. Sunday with Rev. W. H. Fields of
Springfield, O., officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. E. Hull of Lakeview; one brother James at home; one half sister, Mrs. Henry Shepherd, also of Lakeview,
and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Flanick of Akron. Arrangements are in charge of Van Horn funeral home.

Funeral services for J. R. Beatley, 56, owner of Beatley's hotel on Indian Lake and part owner
of the Milner hotel, recently destroyed by fire, who died at 7 a.m. Thursday in Mary Rutan hospital in Bellefontaine,
will be held at 2: 30 p.m. Sunday at the residence in Russells Point. Rev. L. L. Cooperrider of the Community Church
in Russells Point, will officiate. Beatley born in Columbus, took up residence at Lakeview, in 1913 and was affiliated
with the Russells Point Hotel until 1921 when he became manager of his own Beatley hotel there. He was a member
of the Russells Point Community church and the Bellefontaine Elks Lodge. He was also part owner of the People's
Commercial-bldg in Bellfontaine. Beatley is survived by his widow Lillian, one son Jack, both of Lakeview; two
brothers, Donald and Lewis, both of Sacramento, Calif., and a cousin, Mrs. Dora Mueller of Russells Point.

held at 2 p.m. Monday at the residence in Bloom Center, Rev. Harvey H. McPheron of Huntsville officiating. Burial

include his wife Carrie, a step-daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Margaret) Morrison of Canal Winchester; two step-sons, Merle
Shumaker of Lancaster and Fred Shumaker of Columbus; 17 step-grandchildren and nine great- step- grandchildren.
He was retired security guard for OSU, Columbus. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Van Horn Funeral Home,
Lakeview. Burial in Glenn Rest, Reynoldsburg.

Rollo Glen Best, 102, died at 6:25 p.m., Nov 17, 1996, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born July 1, 1894 in Rushsylvania to Benjamin W.and Anna M. (Funk) Best. On April 7, 1933, he married Idella
Terry, who died May 15, 1977. Mr. Best owned and operated the Benjamin W. Best store, Rushsylvania, and retired
after 40 years. He worked as a salesman for the Harper Brush Works of Iowa. He wa a 1913 graduate of Rushsylvania
High School.
He was a member of Rushsylvania United Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and as a clerk of the session.
He was a member of Rushsylvania Lions Club and the first Boy Scout troop, Troop 51, of Logan County. He served
on the Rushsylvania School Board and had also had served as its president. He served on the Logan-Union-Champaign
Planning Commission and the Rushsylvania City Council.
Survivors include a daughter, May (Donld C) Bayliss of Rushsylvania; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rushsylvania United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Ril Beaty officiating.
Burial in Rushsylvania Cemetery.

GEORGE E. VOGEL SR. 74, died at 7:55 am Feb 6, 1996, al Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born April 3, 1923, in St. Marys to Edward O. and Lillian M (Prichard) Vogel. On March I5,1946, he married
Joanne Baggs, who survives. Mr. Vogel was a retired sheet metal worker. He was an Army veteran of World War
II. He attended Mount Tabor Church of God and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 224, Dayton
. Survivors also include three sons, George K (Mildred) Vogel Jr. of Skiatook, Okla, Jeff (Karen) Vogel
of Lakeview and
Don (Kim) Vogel of Bellefontaine, three daughters, Connie ( Kip) Fields, of Russells Point. Judy (Gary) Boop
of Lakeview, and Tammy (Michael) Miller of Bellefontaine, three brothers, James Vogel. Robert Vogel and Walter

Dale G. Fireoved,73, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday at his home. He was born June 1,1909, in
Mercer County, the son of Thomas and Edna (Thomas) Fireoved. On July 10, 1937, he married Pauline Whyman, who survives.
Mr. Fireoved was a partner in Troy Rowland Furniture Co. and associated with Galbraith Realty in Troy and Kronenberger
Realty in Russells Point. He was a member and deacon of the Indian Lake Community Church, Russells Point. He was
past exalted ruler of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Troy. He was a member of Belfefontaine BPOE 132
and Troy Moose Lodge.
Survivors also include a son, Larry L.Fireoved of Troy; a granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Ruth) Bucklew of
Coldwater; and, two brothers, Dr. Ralph Fireoved of Chicago, Ill., and Wayne Fireoved of Mendon.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Van Horn Funeral Home; Lakeview, Rev. John B. Ellington Jr.officiating. Burial
will be in Huntsville Cemetery.

JEFFREY KELSEY FURROW,49,of Hilliard, died May 8,1996, in Whetstone Care Center, Columbus.
He was born to Ralph and Kathryn Furrow.
Mr. Furrow was a graduate of Culver Military Academy, Ohio State University and Ohio Northern University Law School.
He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and the Ohio Bar Association.
Survivors include a sister, Kris Furrow; and a friend, Mary Shesky.
Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger. Road, Columbus. Burial
will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Kent L. Woodward Sr., 87, of Rt. 2, Bellefontaine, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday at Lima Memorial
Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, the former, Mabel I. Black; a son, Kent L. Jr., of Rt. 2, Bellefontaine; three grandchildren;
and a brother.

W. Neil Minnich, 65, of Rt. 2, died in his home on Sunday at 11:45 p.m. ater a lengthy illness.

Beatrice Morey, 83, of Rt. 1, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday in the Kenton Care Center where she
had been a patient for several years.
Surviving are a son Ralph W. of Dayton, three grandchildren and three great0grandchildren.

Fred F. Metcalf, 70, died at 5 p.m. Sunday at Mary Rutan hospital, Bellefontaine, where he
had been apatient since Nov. 6.
He was a retired employee of Airstream Corp., Jackson Center, and a former employee of the A.J. Miller Co.,
Bellefontaine. He served for many years on the Russells Point poice force.
Survivors include his wife, the former Kathryn Peck, a daughter, Elizabeth L. Burden of Rocky Fork; and two
grandchildren.
Servies will be at 1p.m. Wednesday at Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.

ROCKFORD - Lucile R. Brown, 82, of Shane Hill Nursing Home died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday.
She was born Jan. 3, 1902, in Bloom Center, the daughter of Robert and Minnie Longworth Renick. On April 22, 1925,
she married Clarence Brown, who survives. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Miriam) Simpson of Dayton
and Mrs. Philip (Marilyn) Smith of Greenville, S.C.;p two sons, Glenn Brown of San Diego, Calif, and Rev. Melvyn
Brown of Manilla, Philippines; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, J.R. Renick of Lewistown.

hospital.
Born March 26, 1895, in Bloom Center, she was the daughter of J. Williard and Ida Peterson Smith.
She married Glenn Haldeman, Sept. 23, 1920, and he died in June 1965. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. J. D. (Marguerite)
Sawyer of Middletown, a granddaughter
and a grandson. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and Athenian
Club.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. today at Huntsville Cemetery with Rev. Walter Radulovich officiating. Burial

INDIAN LAKE - Eldon Wesley Marquardt, 76, died Saturday at his home. He was born Aug. 19, 1908.
in
Huntingdon, Pa., the son of John Wesley and Edith Gertrude Hawn Marquardt. On Aug. 10, 1931, he
married Dorotha Miller, who survives.
Mr. Marquardt was a retired methods engineer with Buckeye Iron and Brass in Dayton. He was a member of the Christ
United Methodist Church in l.akeview, its Men's Club and choir. He was a former member of the Memorial Church of
Christ in Dayton.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Guy (Janice) Gilford of Dayton; two sons, Richard E. Marquardt of Dayton
and John W. Marquardt of Caldwell, W.Va.;
eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Emma Beddies of Dayton and Mrs. Fred (Helen)

Sarah Harper Hackley, 74. of 1307 W. High died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Rutan Hospital
in Bellefontaine. She was born March 31, 1906, in Lewistown. the daughter of William and Emma Goodrich Richey.
She married Charles Harper, who died July 31, 1962. On Oct. 6, 1963, she married Miles Hackley, who survives. Mrs.
Hackley was a retired caterer. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, its Stewardess Board No. 1. Just Us
Club. Missionary Society and was a deaconess of the church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Fred (Mary Jane) Hughes and Evelyn Williams, both of Bellefontaine, and
Mrs. Donald (Gloria Ann) Lyburtus of Fostoria; two stepsons, Miles Hackley Jr. and Joseph Hackley, both of Dayton;
18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Milton (Thelma) Oglesbee of 2115 Morris Ave. Services

KENTON, Nov. 7 - Funeral services for Charles A. Fulton, 64.
Belle Center road
and building contractor, were held Thursday at the Postle funeral home in that town with Rev. F. A Dumm, pastor
of the United Presbyterian church there, in charge. Burial was in Belle Center Fairview cemetery.
Fulton died Tuesday after a long illness. He
was born in Belle Center
on Feb. 10, 1876, and had spent most of his life there. He was married in 1893 to Ella Shultz and
after her death to Bessie Landon who also is dead.
Surviving are four sons, Alex Fulton of near Kenton, Donald Fulton of West Milton, William Fulton of Belle Center
and Allen E. Fulton of Marion; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Tarbill of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. William Wickline
of Belle Center and Mrs. Raymond Bishop of Mountain View, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Mitchell of Fremont,
Mrs. M. M. Hannum of Columbus and Miss Sadie Fulton of Belle Center, and 10 grandchildren.

four years. He was 74 years old. Dr. Caler was born at Fredonla ,
Ohio , and educated at Delaware
and Columbus. He was vice-president of the Citizens bank at Degraff and a director of the United Telephone company
in Bellefontaine and owned extensive farming interests.

Home died Sunday, March 20, at 8:55 a.m. following a period of failing health.
A native of Hardin County
, Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and former employee of the Oak Hotel in Bellefontaine. She was also a
member of the Friends
Church .
Born April 28, 1893, she was the daughter of Thomas Judson and Mary Stearns Little. On July 7, 1913 she was married
to Benjamin F. Lewis who died Sept. 17, 1975.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles E. (Hilda) Pash of Bellefontaine
two grandchildren; seven g-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Hilty Rose Funeral Home,
Belle Center , with the Rev. Roger Ashley
officating.
Burial will be in Fairview
Cemetery .

Belle Center - Last services for Mrs. Anne Jaskinsky Corwin, 92, who died late Monday at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. S. M. Jones, near Rushsylvania, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m., at the Rushsylvania Church
of Christ, Rev. Herbert Graham, pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be in Rushsylvania cemetery.
Mrs. Corwin died after being bedfast for 10 weeks. Her death was attributed to infirmities. She was born in
Logan-co on June 13, 1819.
On July 4, 1860 she was married to William Corwin, who died a number of years ago. Surviving are one son, Ira
Corwin of near Rushsylvania; a daughter; Mrs. Jones at whose home she died; one sister, Mrs. Hester Hatcher of
Poeniona, Ia., six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

of his sister, Mrs. Viola Hawkins, 315 N. Central-av. He had been ill three weeks.
Three other sisters and three brothers survive. They are Mrs. Effie Clemens, of N. Jackson-st,
Mrs. Alfretta Nichols of Toledo , Virginia Warwick

Lambert, who is employed at the gas works at 6 p.m. Thursday at 905 West Chillicothe Avenue. Heart disease
and hardening of the arteries was the cause of death.
Newton Lambert and wife had been visiting in Paulding county for some time. When he became ill his son, Charles
Lambert, motored there to bring them home. They had returned to the city Tuesday, after which time Mr. Lambert
was able to walk around the residence. He was thought to be getting along all right and on Thursday he enjoyed
supper after which he started to walk to the front room of the home. He dropped dead before reaching there.
Mr. Lambert had conducted a second hand store in the Smucker room on West Chillicothe Avenue for a number of years.
He had retired, however, eight years ago. He and his wife had moved to the residence of their son, Charles,
and wife two years ago.
Newton Lambert was born north of Roundhead May 10, 1851. He was united in marriage with Miss Amanda Fair
September 25, 1880. Remaining with the widow are the following children: Alvah Lambert, Ridgeway; Mrs.
Lushie Pusey, Charles Lambert, Mrs. Nellie Holmes, of Bellefontaine and Elmore Lambert of Toledo.
A daughter, Ethel, died when she was five years old.
The deceased was a member of the Church of Christ and a good man.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. E. B. Higham, pastor of the Church
of Christ, in charge. Burial will be made in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Obit: Mrs. Amanda Fair died near midnight Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mr. Ott Pusey, 517 South Madriver
street, where she was visiting. She had been living in the home of a son, Charles, 801 West Columbus Avenue.
She was 82 years old last September.
She had suffered a stroke of paralysis about 10 days ago and after that a heart affliction followed and caused
her death.
Mrs. Lambert was the widow of Newton Lambert who died in October of 1932. Remaining are the following sons
and daughters: Alvah Lambert, of Mt. Blanchard; S. E. Lambert, of Toledo; Charles Lambert and
Mrs. Ott Pusey, of this city, and Mrs. Nellie Holmes of Marion.
There are 12 grandchildren remaining and a number of great-grandchildren. The deceased was the daughter of
the late Leander Fair and his wife. She was born Amanda Fair in Maryland and was united in marriage with
Newton Lambert on September 25, 1880. She had spent the greater portion of her life in this community.
Mrs. Lambert was a member of the Church of Christ and a good Christian woman. She was active for one of her
years until she became ill.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Kennedy Funeral Home with Rev. John Barlow, of this city,
in charge. Burial will be made in the Bellefontaine Cemetery. The body is at 801 West Columbus Avenue.

Obit: Alvah Lambert, 66, farmer, R.F.D. Mt. Victory, died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in San Antonio hospital,
Kenton, where he was admitted last Sunday from his home for medical treatment. Death followed a one week
illness.
A son of Newton and Amanda Fair Lambert, he was born July 6, 1885, in Paulding county and spent most of his life
in the Mt. Victory community. He was a member of the Big Springs Methodist Church.
Remaining are his wife, the former Hazel Titus, to whom he was married in Bellefontaine in 1909; one daughter,
Mrs. Viron Broach, Mansfield; one son, Paul Lambert, Kenton; two brothers, Elmore Lambert of Toledo, and Charles
Lambert, 316 North Detroit Street; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Lushie) Wetz, 704 West Columbus Avenue, and Mrs. Nellie
Holmes, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. One sister preceded him in death. Nine grandchildren, one of whom,
Richard is stationed with the U.S. Army in Alaska, remain.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Sherman & Mackey Funeral Home, Mt. Victory, with Rev.
A. E. Oliver, of Ridgeway, officiating. Burial will be made in the Rushsylvania cemetery.

DEGRAFF, Jan. 7âMrs. Ida Cecelia Crosson, 88, died at 9 a. m. Friday at her
home in Degraff. She had been ill one year.
Born Jan. 10, 1860, in Sidney, Mrs. Crosson was a member of the Degraff
Baptist church. For several years she was president of the Relief corps of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Surviving are a son, George Yost, Lima
; a daughter, Mrs. Minnie Huber, Degraff; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Henderson, Piqua, and Mrs. Rose
Grestner, Sidney ; four grandchildren, seven
great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday in the Rexer funeral home with the Rev. A.
W. Denlinger in charge. Burial will be in Greenwood
cemetery, Degraff. The body will remain in the funeral home until burial.

- Adam Prater, 82, of Rt 2. West Mansfield, died at 4.30 p m Thursday
at San Antonio Professional Nursing Facility of
Kenton.
Born Feb. 21, 1898, in Prestonburg. Ky. , be was the son of Granvel and Eva Stanford Prater.
On Jan. 24, 1924, he married Eunice Dotson, whosurvives.
Mr. Prater was a retired farmer. Survivors also include three daughters,17 grundchil dren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Hilty Funeral Home, Rev. A.W. Purdin officiating Burial
will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
