                                               Ross County is located in the Appalachian region of the state of Ohio, established on August 20, 1798. 
                                  Chillicothe was the first and third capital of Ohio.  The name comes from the Shawnee name Chalahgawtha, meaning "principal town."
 
                                     The Ohio-Erie Canal ran through Ross County, making it a very successful place during canal times.
