Weller, Mary Lingenfelter - Montgomery Co News, Hillsboro , IL , 16 Apr 1886

Obituary

Mrs. Mary Weller was born in Frederick County, Maryland, April 13th AD 1802, and died

April 13th AD 1886 , which makes her 84 years old on the day of her death.  Before she was married, she moved to the State of Ohio , Stark County, near Canton in 1813.  She was married to John Weller, on Easter Sunday, April, AD 1820.  She joined the Eva Lutheran Church at the age of twenty years, in Canton , Ohio .  Lived in the State of Ohio twenty-seven years, and then with her

husband moved to the State of Illinois , March 1840.  She was left a widow by the death of her husband on March 7th, 1843 , and in 1844 she was married to Joseph Weber.  In 1853 she was left a widow again by the death of her second husband.   There was born to her ten children, seven of whom survive her.  She has eighty-three grand children, twenty-one of whom are dead, and fifty-nine great grand children, ten of whom are dead. Mother Weller united with the St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montgomery County , Ills, in the year 1850.  It is due to say of the deceased by the writer that he served as pastor of St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church five years during which time Mother Weller was an attentive hearer of the gospel and when visited by her pastor she was kind and unassuming.  On the 14th day of April at 3 o’clock pm her corpse was brought to St John’s Church and placed in front of the pulpit.  After a discourse was delivered by the writer from these words, “She is not dead, but sleepeth.”  Luke 8-52  The house was crowded and the audience gave undivided attention to the preached word.  It is our heart’s desire and prayer to God that all the bereaved friends and relatives who gave such marked attention may from this time forward prepare to meet Mother Weller on the banks of deliverance in the new bright world.  AMEN.      J B Cramer

Zoar, O, April 2- Simon Beuter, widely known as "The Gardner", passed away Tuesday evening after a short illness occasioned by a fall while rummaging among the seeds on the shelves of his greenhouse. Mr. Beuter was probably better known throughout the whole state than any other Zoar Separatist. He was for many years teacher of the Zoar boys and girls, and many a housewife has to thank him for the skill with which her husband plants and takes care of the family garden, having acquired it under the kindly tuition of mr. Beuter when he was working in the "Garden" as a boy. Beuter was one of five children born in Germany in October 1819. It is a curious coincidence that they have died in a regular order, beginnig with the oldest and now the youngest, an octogenarian, only is left. He leaves one daughter, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral will take place Friday afternoon with Rev. Theodore Merten of officiating.
