Washington County Slavery News Items

Slavery
On the 9th inst., 3 citizens of Washington county, Ohio, were seized without process on their own territory, by a gang of Virginians, on the charge of aiding negroes to escape, and taken to jail at Parkersburgh. The excitement is great on both sides of the river. On the Virginia side, armed men surround the jail to guard it. On the Ohio side, meetings are holding, and threats have been made to release them forcibly.
