Forehand Cemetery

Forehand Cemetery is located 1 1/2 miles south of I 40 and Banner Road, then east 1 mile.

A deed was recorded on August 8, 1893, transferring 2 acres from Mr. & Mrs. S. E. Forehand to Forehand Cemetery Association. Said land was designated for a graveyard and church, but the church was never built.

Older residents of the area state that the Forehand Cemetery Association was active for many, many years. The original minutes and burial records have long been lost, with the exception of the original plat map listing the owner name. There are a few penciled names and remarks. The plat map is drawn with 5 rows running west to east. The west part is the second addition originally reserved for a church. Some of the burials do not line up exactly with the map but they are easy to find. The original map is in the possession of Friendly Circle Service Corporation.
