Emma Stout
PIONEER STATE RESIDENT DIES
Services to be set for Mrs. Emma (Dolby) Stout
Mrs. Emma Stout, 87, of 214 North N avenue,
Oklahoma pioneer woman and resident of El Reno for 15 years, died this
morning at the home of her daughter in Kingfisher.
Mrs. Stout had been ill for seven weeks. Born in Harrisburg,
Pa., she and her husband settled on a homestead farm
near Calumet in 1889 (sic should be 1892). They made the land
run from Clay Center, Kansas. Active throughout her
life in church activities, Mrs. Stout was the first contributor
to the building of Mount Zion Church, north of El
Reno. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Pentecostal
Holiness Church in Kingfisher. Services will be at 2
p.m. Saturday at Pentecostal Holiness Church in El Reno. Rev.
Paul Holmes will officiate, assisted by Rev. Alfred
Spell of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kingfisher and
Rev. J.D. Keen, minister of Assembly of God Church in
Kingfisher.
Survivors include three daughters,
Mrs. Esther Trindle, Kingfisher, Mrs. Mary Stephens, 912 East Forman street,
and Mrs. Doris Summers, 414 North Rock Island avenue;
and four sons, Joe Stout, 214 North N avenue, Chris Stout.
of 410 South Rock Island, Charlie Stout, Okmulgee, and
Roy Stout, Waldron, Ark. Wilson funeral home will arrange
services. Burial will be in Kingfisher cemetery.

Melton J. Stout, 87-year-old
pioneer resident of Canadian county, died at 2 a.m. today at his home, 510
South Barker
Avenue, after an illness which extended
over a number of years. Memorial rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday
at Faith Tabernacle, 601 North Evans Avenue, with Rev.
Joseph B. Lewis, pastor, Officiating. Burial will be made
at Beecham Cemetery, nine miles north and a mile east
of El Reno, with Garrison funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stout was born June 15, 1853, at Lewisburg, Pa.
From there he moved to Kansas before moving to Canadian county
in 1892. He homesteaded northwest of El Reno, and has
resided in the county continuously since that time.
Survivors include the widow, of the home address;
four sons, Chris and Charles Stout, both of El Reno, Joe Stout
of Calumet and Roy Stout of lindsay, Calif.; and three
daughters, Mrs. Dora Summers of Willowbrook, Calif., Mrs.
Asher Stephens of El Reno and Mrs. Esther Trindle of
Wagoner. There also are 36 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren

Pioneer of
Opening of 1892 Dies at Home in El Reno
Melton J. Stout, a homesteader
in Canadian County during the run of 1892, died Monday at his home at 501
South
Barker at the age of 87 years. He was born in
Lewisburg, Pa. and came here from Kansas to engage in the Cheyenne
& Arapaho opening. (land run) He took a claim
northwest of El Reno and has resided here continuously since
that time. Survivors include the wife and seven
children, Mrs. Dora Summers of Willowbrook, Calif., Mrs. Asher
Stevens (sic should be Stephens) of El Reno, Mrs.
Esther Trimble of Wagoner, Joe of Calumet, Chris and Chas. of
El Reno, Roy of Lindsay, Calif., 36 grandchildren, and
33 great grandchildren. Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday
from the Faith Tabernacle Church by Rev. Joe B. Lewis,
and enterment was made in the Beecham Cemetery.

Brandon Scott Ellis

Funeral services for Brandon Scott Ellis (Blah Blah) of El Reno will
be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church
with Rev. Don Hefta officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland
Cemetery northeast of El Reno. Services are under direction of
Wilson Funeral Home.
Brandon passed from this earth on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, in El
Reno. He was born May 27, 1970, in Oklahoma City. He was a lifetime
Canadian County area resident and a 1988 graduate of El Reno High
School. He had also attended Redlands Community College before
attending and graduating from CLEET Police Academy. He was a former
police chief for Union City.
Brandon's fun-loving personality allowed him to touch many lives in
many different ways. He will be loved and missed by many who met
him, especially those who came to know and understand him. He was a
thrill-seeker who enjoyed anything fast and adventurous without
regard to the number of wheels on the ground or the dangers
involved.
Mr. Ellis was a wonderful son, brother, cousin and friend. Although
he never had children of his own (except for his beloved Shih tzu,
Jack), he loved everything about kids and was an amazing uncle who
would do anything for his nephews no matter how brief he knew them.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Gay (Powell) Ellis.
Survivors include his father, Alan Ellis of El Reno; a brother,
Trevor Ellis and wife, Shawna of Norman; a sister, Jessica Corbin
and husband, Chris of Yukon; nephew, Aidan Ellis, and one on the way
who will be named Jaxton Scott Corbin; his grandmother, Clara
Powell; girlfriend, Janet Vieweg of El Reno; and numerous other
relatives and friends.
Brandon's wishes were in lieu of flowers that memorials in his name
be made to a college scholarship fund set up for his nephews at the
Yukon National Bank, or to Oklahoma Children's Hospital.

Jo Ann Hunt

Funeral services for Jo Ann Hunt of Oklahoma City, formerly of El
Reno, were held Wednesday, April 23, 2008, in the Wilson Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Van Horn officiating. Burial was in the
Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hunt died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Deaconess Hospital in
Oklahoma City. She was born May 5, 1933, in Banner. Jo Ann was a
lifetime Canadian County area resident and had worked for Hensley's
Restaurant. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church of God
where she was very active. She loved going to church and all the
church activities. She was a loving and kind mother and will be
greatly missed by her daughter and all those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Reece and Sarah Ann
(Bruce) Hulbert; son-in-law, Jeff Moody; sister, Ruth Marie Soverign;
and brother, Ralph Elmo Hulbert.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianna Moody of Oklahoma City;
brother, Charles Hulbert and wife, Lillian of Broken Arrow; sister,
Lois Blackburn and husband, Bob of Madera, Calif.; and several
nieces, nephews and friends.

Chase Scott Smith

Graveside services for Chase Scott Smith will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday, Oct. 26 in the Oakland Cemetery northeast of El Reno with
Chaplain Patricia Webb officiating. Services are under direction of
Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Chase died Oct. 22, 2006, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born Sept. 12, 2006, in Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his parents, Scott and Shelli Wehr Smith of
Piedmont; maternal grandmother, Donna Wehr Zukosky of Ripley;
paternal grandmother, Jan Smith of El Reno; maternal
great-grandparents, Richard and Charlotte Gruhlkey of Burleson,
Texas, and Carl and Margaret Wehr of Stillwater; and other family
and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dale Wayne Wehr and
Lloyd Charles Smith.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Mercy NICU
staff for all of their love, compassion and care.

Lloyd C. Smith

Graveside services for Lloyd C. Smith were held Tuesday, July 11, in
the Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Womack officiating. Services
were under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith died July 7, 2006, at his home in El Reno. He was born
Sept. 23, 1934, in Banner. He was a graduate of El Reno High School
and an Army veteran. He worked for Suburban Home Furnishings for
years and was a self-employed building contractor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.F. "Bake" and Della
Ridenour Smith, and two brothers, Blan Smith and Benny Joe Smith.
He married Paula Jan Lingle. Jan survives him in death.
He is also survived by a son, Scott Smith and wife, Shelli of
Piedmont; daughters, Melanie Statton and husband, Joe of El Reno and
Valerie Bramlett of El Reno; grandchildren, Kyle Statton and wife,
Shannon, Kristel Graves, Raven Bramlett and Rayce Bramlett;
great-grandchildren, Holly Statton and Piper Graves; and numerous
nieces and nephews.

Warren Carl Wallace
Funeral services with Masonic Rites for Warren Carl Wallace of El
Reno were held Monday, Feb. 23 at Mount Zion United Methodist
Church, northeast of El Reno, with Rev. Diana Pruitt, pastor,
officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with military
honors. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Wallace died Feb. 20, 2009, at his home northeast of El Reno. He
was born March 29, 1924, in Okarche to his parents, Willie Henry and
Jessie (McLean) Wallace. Carl was a lifetime resident of Canadian
County, having attended the Liberty Country School, and was a 1942
graduate of El Reno High School.
Carl served in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees in Trinidad and Guam
during World War II. He married Louise Wilkerson on Dec. 31, 1948,
in Muskogee. Carl was a farmer and rancher as well as a carpenter,
having co-owned H&W Cabinet Shop with George Heupel for several
years.
He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, El Reno
Masonic Lodge No.50 where he was a Past Worshipful Master, and was
actively involved with both the Prevent Blindness and scholarship
programs. Carl was a 30-year member and past president of the
Canadian County Gideons, placing Bibles in schools and giving church
programs. He was also a charter member and past president of the
Canadian County Mineral Owners Association.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his infant twin
daughters; a granddaughter, Esther Wallace; his sister, Mae
Brodersen; and brothers, Chester E. Wallace and William M. Wallace.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Wallace of the home; his
daughter, Carla Brueggen and husband, Henry of Bethany; his son,
Benjamin J. Wallace and wife, Joyce of Goldsby; grandchildren, Beth
Brueggen of Minneapolis, Minn., Laura Brueggen of Bethany, Oliver
Wallace, Isaac Wallace and Abraham Wallace, all of Goldsby; and
other relatives and many friends.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Masonic Lodge
Scholarship Fund, the Gideons or Mount Zion United Methodist
Church.

Funeral services for Ardath A. Wilkerson of El Reno were held
Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with
Rev. Wesley Miller officiating. Interment was in the Oakland
Cemetery. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilkerson died Friday, March 7, 2008, at her home. She was born
April 5, 1918, in Webb, Okla. Ardath Gore married D. Gene Wilkerson
on March 23, 1951. They came to El Reno in 1951. She had worked as a
clerk for PMA in Taloga and was a homemaker. She was a graduate of
Camargo High School and had some college hours. She was a member of
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, UMW and the Jolly Workers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mable (Dale)
Gore; her first husband, Don Wright; four brothers, Vern, Harvey,
Keith and Wayne Gore; and a grandson, Dustin Homerding.
Survivors include her husband, D. Gene Wilkerson of the home; a son,
Gary Don Wright and wife, Patty of El Reno; a daughter, Peggy Beth
Wilkerson of Yukon; brother, Lynn Gore and wife, Billie of Midwest
City; sister, June Hunter and husband, Alvin of Rogers, Ark.;

Fannie A. Stanley
EL RENO - Fannie A. Stanley, 82, died Saturday in Parkview
Hospital. Services will be at 2 p. m. Monday at Benson Funeral Home,
with burial in Oak Chapel Cemetery.
She was born in Kansas, and came to El Reno in 1900. She was a
member of Rebekahs, the Reno Valley Demonstration Club, Women's
Culture Club, and the First Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughter, Mrs. C. B. Glover, Shreveport,
LA., and Mrs. Roy Stevenson, El Reno; a son, Fred P. Lamb,
Chickasha; and five sisters, Bessie Neade, New York City; Mrs. A. W.
Fountain, Bexter, Ark; Mrs. Sam Holbert, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Carolyn
Neade, New York City; and Mrs. John Ghelfi, Calico Rodk, Ark.

John F. McCarthy
John F. McCarthy, 67, of Oklahoma City,
formerly of Okarche, died
Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at St. Eugene's
Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Holy
Trinity
Cemetery in Okarche.
He was born March 19, 1935, in Okarche to Frank and Elizabeth
McCarthy.

Oran S. Alexander
Oran S. 'Buzz' Alexander was born in Ada, OK on
October 26, 1922 and died on May 18, 2006 at his home in Okarche,
OK. Oran had been a resident of OKC for some 40 years prior to
moving to Okarche 4 years ago. Before retirement he was a general
contractor in the OKC area for many years. He was preceded in death
by his parents Oran and May (Allison) Alexander and brothers, Mike
and William J. Alexander. He is survived by his wife, Rosetta; son,
William J. Alexander of OKC; and sister, Ruby Winters, of Broken
Arrow. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy
Trinity Church in Okarche with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Alexander
Rosetta E. Alexander, 83, died Nov. 29, 2006 at
her home in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Sat.
at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche with burial in Holy Trinity
Cemetery. She will liein-state 9 a.m. Sat. at the church. Rosetta
was born Nov. 4, 1923 in Okarche. After graduating from high school
she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked at the Pentagon. She
married Oran Alexander. For many years she assisted him in Alexander
Construction, Inc. They lived in OKC for 40 years before moving to
Okarche 5 years ago. Oran preceded her in death on May 18, 2006. She
was also preceded in death by her parents, Ignatius and Maudie
(Meyer) Gilles; brothers, Loyd, Milton, Francis and Harold; and
sisters, Clare and Bernita. Rosetta is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law, William and Tracy Alexander, of OKC; brother, Gene
Gilles, of El Reno; and sister, Alta Mueggenborg, of Okarche.

Mass of Christian Burial for Rosetta E. Alexander was held Saturday
at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche with Rev. Philip Louis and Deacon
Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery under
direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alexander died Wednesday at her home in Okarche. She was born
Nov. 4, 1923, in Okarche. After graduating from high school she
moved to Washington, D.C. and worked at the Pentagon. She was
secretary/treasurer of Alexander Construction Inc. for many years.
She lived in Oklahoma City for 40 years before moving to Okarche
five years ago. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church.
She is survived by a son, William Alexander of Oklahoma City; a
brother, Gene Gilles of El Reno; and a sister, Alta Mueggenborg of
Okarche.

Death of Mrs. Alig
Mrs. Peter Alig, who had been sick for the last six weeks, died
Tuesday night at her home northwest of town, aged 61 years. Mrs.
Alig had been in poor health for about five years.
The funeral service was held at the Catholic church this morning at
11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Father Steber.
Mrs. Alig had lived near Okarche for the last twelve years and had
many friends. She leaves a husband, seven daughters and two sons to
mourn her loss.

Peter Alig
Okarche Times
Peter Alig died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Meistrell in
this city, Friday night, August 9, at the age of 75 years. He had
been in poor health for some time and recently suffered several
strokes of paralysis. The funeral was held Monday (Aug. 11), and
interment made in the Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Alig was born in Bavaria Germany, and when 8 years old came to
America with his parents and settled in Woodford county, Illinois.
He was married to Marian (sic) Kleiss in 1863, and moved with his
family to Pettis county, Missouri. From there he moved to Okarche in
1894, where his wife died in 1906, since which time he has made his
home with his children. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons and
seven daughters, four brothers and three sisters. Two sons and three
daughters live here, one daughter lives at Vinita, Oklahoma, one at
Paxico, Kan., one at Villagrove Ill., and one at Groom, Texas. All
his children were at the funeral.
Mrs. Joe Rund, of Villagrove Ill., Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Schumaker of
Paxico, Kan., and Mrs. John Weller of Groom, Tex., came the first of
the week to attend the funeral of their father Peter Alig. Mr. and
Mrs. Schumaker returned to their home, Wednesday night, and Mrs.
Weller leaves for her home in Texas, today. Mrs. Rund expects to
leave tomorrow for her home in Illinois.

Wake services for Ruth J. Annuschat were held Sunday at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday
at Holy Trinity with Rev. Phillip Louis, Rev. Marvin Leven and
Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Catholic
Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Service of Kingfisher.
Mrs. Annuschat died Friday at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. She was
born Dec. 1, 1930, in Okarche and had lived in the area most of her
life. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Altar
Society.
She is survived by her husband, Art of the home; sons, Paul,
Stanley, Nicholas, Ronald and Lawrence, all of Okarche, and David of
Kingfisher; daughters, Vicki Marks of Omega, Sandra Raupe of
Okarche, Denise Meyer of Hoxie, Kan., and Jacqueline Walta of
Kingfisher; 10 grandsons and six granddaughters.

Prayer service for George Lawrence Barthelme was held Tuesday, July

Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity
Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Barthelme died July 3, 2008, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. He
was born June 26, 1922, in Okarche. A lifetime resident of Okarche,
he was an aircraft engine mechanic at Page Aircraft for over 30
years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church and Catholic Order of
Foresters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sarah Trusty
Barthelme; brothers, Leo, Frank and Joe Barthelme; and sisters, Mary
Rogers, Rose Waltman, Margaret Kliesen, Lorretta Barrett and Dorothy
Ward
He married Mary Agnes Hau on Nov. 4,1946, at Holy Trinity Church in
Okarche. She survives him in death.
He is also survived by five sons, Larry Barthelme of Wallkill, N.Y.,
Dennis Barthelme and wife, Brenda of Norman, Robert Barthelme of
Tuttle, Gene Barthelme and wife, Danysel of Frisco, Texas, and Don
Barthelme of Oklahoma City; sisters, Leona Hau of Okarche and
Mildred Blake of Yukon; five grandchildren, Dustin Barthelme, Brandi
Albrecht, Jacob Andrew Barthelme, Jamie Moseley and Courtnie
Barthelme; and three great-grand-children.

Mr. Baustert died Thursday at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. He was
born Jan. 27, 1918, in Okarche and was a lifetime resident. He was
an Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and member of Holy
Trinity Church, Knights of Columbus and VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes; sons, Gary Baustert, Robert
Baustert and Michael Baustert, all of Okarche; daughters, Elise
Morrow and Elaine Gerber, both of Kingfisher and Sharon Clark of
Okarche; a brother, Carlos Baustert of Okarche; sisters, Agnes Halko
of Okarche and Fran Davenport of Lake Charles, La.; 19 grandchildren
and nine great-grandchildren.

Gerald Keith

Gerald "Gerry" Brueggen departed this life to be with our Lord on
Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at the age of 49, in Kingfisher.
Gerald Keith Brueggen was born to Phil and Mildred Wolf Brueggen the
19th of August, 1958, in Okarche. He was raised on the family farm
northeast of Okarche with his brothers and sisters. He graduated
from Okarche Public School in 1976.
He married Cindy McFarlin on Aug. 1, 1980, at Holy Trinity Catholic
Church in Okarche. Gerry and Cindy were blessed with two wonderful
children, a son, Gregory, and a daughter, Amy.
Gerry was employed by Walker Corp. and worked his way up as a
production foreman. In 1991, he went to work for the Federal
Correctional Institution in El Reno. He and his brother, Kevin,
bought the family farm from their mother in 1995, and he farmed and
ranched to the present.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Cindy, and two children, Greg and Amy
of the home, and Greg's girlfriend, Kara Sandefur of Kingfisher,
whom Gerry was very fond of; his mother, Mildred Brueggen of
Okarche; four sisters, Elaine Stratton and companion, Darrell Murray
of Dover, Yvonne Hicks and husband, Ronnie of Okarche, Evelyn
Elliott and husband, Joe of Yukon and Jeanne Nathani and husband,
Malik of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Kevin Brueggen and wife,
Katie of Kingfisher and Rick Brueggen and wife, Darla of Okarche;
and brother-in-law, Gary Stratton.
He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Howard and
Louise McFarlin of Checotah; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and
Nathan Magers of San Angelo, Texas; seven nieces, 11 nephews and
nine great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and family to
whom he was fondly known as "Diesel."
He was preceded in death by his father, Phil Brueggen.
Wake services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church at Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial will also be at
Holy Trinity at 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. Phillip Lewis and Deacon
Max Schwarz officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery
under direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

Phil Brueggen
Phil Brueggen, 70, of Okarche died Tuesday,
July 14, 1992, at his home.
A wake service was held at 7:30 PM Thursday at the Holy Trinity
Catholic Church in Okarche, Oklahoma. Mass of Christian Burial was
held at 10 AM Friday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the
Rev. Marvin Leven Officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity
Catholic Cemetary under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
He was born June 6, 1922 at Okarche to Bernard and Mary Boeckman
Brueggen. He married Mildred Wolf in Oklahoma City on October 24,
1951.
Brueggen was a farmer and stockman and a member of the Holy Trinity
Catholic Curch, the Foresters and the Oklahoma Cattlemen's
Association. He lived and farmed all of his life in Kingfisher
County.
Brueggen is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home; three sons,
Gerald Brueggen and Kevin Brueggen, both of Kingfisher, and Richard
Brueggen of Hennessey; four daughters, Elaine Stratton and Yvonne
Hicks, both of Okarche, Evelyn Elliott of Yukon and Jeanne Nathani
of Houston, Texas; 18 grandchildren, and four sisters, Louella
Wedman of Yukon and Dorothy Stroh, Bernadine Schroeder and Ruth
Annuschat, all of Okarche.

Prayer service for Mary Frances Radtke Coffey will be held at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Coffey died March 2, 2006, at her home in Okarche. She was born
June 30, 1938, in Union City. She was a homemaker. She moved to
Okarche in 1967 where she was a member of Holy Trinity Church and
Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Don Crossley and John R.
"Jack" Coffey; parents, Leo and Frances Gatz Radtke; and brothers,
Charles and Louis Radtke.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Steve and Debbie
Crossley, Ann and Mike Hufnagel, Bob Crossley and John and Jesse
Coffey, all of Okarche, and Lynn and Bruce Shook of Choctaw;
brothers, Harold Radtke of Oklahoma City and Leo Radtke Jr. of Union
City; a sister, Louise Kent of Fallon, Nev.; 13 grandchildren,
David, Joseph, Nicholas and Daniel Crossley, Brian, Kevin and Justin
Hufnagel, Jake, Mackenzie, Macy and Bailey Shook and Kayla and
Hayley Coffey.
