Mrs. James W. Maney

MANEY FUNERAL HELD AT EL RENO

El Reno, Okla., Aug. 30 – Funeral services for Mrs. James W. Maney of Oklahoma City, whose death occurred last Monday at Masitoe, Colo., took place from Sacred Heart Catholic church here Friday. Father Gregory Gerrer, brother of Mrs. Maney, conducted high requim mass, being assisted by fourteen other priests. Father Murphy of Sacred Heart college, Shawnee, delivered the sermon. A large delegation of Oklahoma City friends were in attendance. The body was placed in the Maney mausoleum here.

 El Reno – Funeral services were held Thursday for Mrs. B. F. Elliott, who died at her home at 614 South Barker, Tuesday morning, as a result of blood poison contracted while dressing an infected wound on the arm of her husband, an El Reno undertaker.

Two Dead From Effects of Gas

Third May Succumb On Chiles Farm, Near El Reno

El Reno, Okla., Sept. 16 – (Special) – William Fugate and John Brooks are dead and a son of J. E. Chilos is in a critical condition on the Chiles Farm, twelve miles southwest of El Reno, from the effects of carbonic acid gas escaping in a coop well in which the men were digging. Details are lacking.

PROMINENT LAWYER DIES AT EL RENO

 Homer B. Low

El Reno, Okla., July 9 – Homer B. Low, assistant attorney for the Oklahoma lines of the Rock Island railroad, died here Wednesday morning at 8 o’clock after an illness of several months. Mr. Low has been connected with the Rock Island since he was 19 years of age, having entered the service in 1897 as right of way agent in Oklahoma and Texas, and bought much of that company’s right of way in western Texas when its line was extended to Dalhart.

             Funeral services were held at the home in El Reno at 5 o’clock Wednesday evening and the body was taken to Fort Worth, where services will be held in the Episcopal church at that place and burial will take place in the cemetery there. Deceased leaves a widow and one daughter.

Pearly R. Choate

Funeral services for Pearly R. Choate were held Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007, in the Coleman Chapel in Calumet with Dr. Tony Moore officiating. Burial was in the Calumet Cemetery under direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary. Condolences may be sent to turnerfuner-alhomes@gmail.com.
Pearly R. Choate was born to Ralph and Mae (Pierce) Dixon on Nov. 10, 1930, in Mountain View. She passed away Nov. 23, 2007, at her home in Geary at the age of 77. She was united in marriage to Billie Choate on Feb. I, 1960, in Dallas. Pearly lived in the Mountain View and Hobart area and in Arkansas before moving to the Calumet area as a child. She and Billie lived in the Cleveland area for 21 years before moving back to Calumet in 2002.
She loved to read and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, putting puzzles together, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Billie Choate of the home in Geary; a daughter, Yvonda Moore and husband, Tony of Geary; a son, Larry Pointer and wife, Beverly of Kingfisher; six grandchildren, Larry Joe Pointer of Clinton, Bryan Moore of Calumet, Latasha Moore of Yukon, Chevyonne Free of Kingfisher and Eric and Bart Jones of Kingfisher; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Patsy Mackey of El Reno and Mildred Janette Pointer-Belt of Union City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mae Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Lung Cancer Research.
 

Charles Warren Draper

Unknown - 1950

Charlie spent much of his life in Calumet, Oklahoma, where he married Amy Herman from Mustang, OK. He had two daughters, Louise, who lived to the age of 81, and Margaret, who lived to the age of 12. He had one son, Charles Warren, Jr., who lived to the age of 1 year. He had two grandchildren, Larry Morrison and Lonny Morrison, and five great grandchildren, Jana, Wayne, Sara, Amy, and Michael. He died of a heart condition. He is buried next to Amy in the Calumet Cemetery. 

Frank O. Eagan

The El Reno Tribune -- October 15, 2006

Graveside services for Frank O. Eagan of El Reno were held Wednesday in the Calumet Cemetery with Francis Snodgrass officiating. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Eagan died Oct. 9 at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Pawhuska and was a graduate of Pawhuska High School. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a longtime Canadian County area resident. He was retired from the Federal Correctional Institution and attended First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia of the home; daughters, Carolyn Parker of Oklahoma City, Jan Seems of Yukon and Nancy Theisen of Waterford, Mich.; and a sister, Lois Cheadle of Lake Charles, La.

Julian Hillard Eoff

"Julian Hallard Eoff, a prominent and respected citizen of Calumet, passed away Sunday evening, Mar 31st, about seven o'clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. F Myers. After two weeks illness of pneumonia fever whilst struggling with hope against hope, vainly staining to overcome that dreaded disease, the Angel of Death entered our midst and removed from our circle one who has loved and respected by all....
"The deceased came here from Yukon, Okla, about three years ago...He was a loyal member of the Modern Woodmen lodge...He was twenty-four years of age and leaves a mother, step-father and little step-brother to mourn...The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in Calumet under the aspices of the Modern Woodmen and the remains were laid to rest in Red Rock cemetery Tuesday noon."

Julian Hillard Eoff (or Hillard Julian Eoff) was the son of George M Eoff and Catherine Virginia Early, natives of Pike Co, Missouri. They were residents of Canadian Co, Oklahoma by 1890. His parents divorced and his mother remarried 2/ James Thompson 3/ Frank J Myers. Julian married Rena Elizabeth Wilcox 18 Dec 1902 in Crawford Co, Arkansas.

Carrie M. Evans

Funeral services for Carrie M. Evans of Calumet were held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Calumet United Methodist Church with Rev. Michelle McCarty officiating.
Interment was in the Calumet Cemetery. Services were under direction of Wison Funeral Home.
Mrs. Evans died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at the Odyssey House in Oklahoma City She was born July 6,1914, in Calumet. Carrie was a lifelong Calumet resident and graduate of Calumet High School. Carrie M. Jarvill married Jack A. Evans on Nov. 12, 1932, in Calumet. Mrs. Evans was a homemaker and an active member of Calumet United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Fannie Jarvill; her husband, Jack Evans; great-great-grandson, Nicholas Jack Miller; three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Tom Evans and wife, Maxine,
and Robert Evans and wife, Tisha, all of Calumet; four grandchildren, Cyndie Bowers and husband, Bobby, Mark Evans and wife, Nancy, Reba Houston and husband, Johnnie, and Chase Evans, all of Calumet; step-grandchildren, Tiffani Kloiber of Yukon and Levi Kloiber of Stillwater; seven great-grandchildren, Heath Bowers of Calumet, Autum Bowers of Oklahoma City, Amber Bowers and husband, Nick of El Reno, Linnea Edwards and husband, Ross of Durant, Susie Reed and husband, Josh of Sanger, Texas, Tyler Baker and husband, Bret of Calumet, and Lillie Houston of Calumet; three great-greatgrandchildren, Kaden Bowers, Kash Edwards and Paige Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family suggests memorials to United Methodist Church of Calumet or First Baptist Church of Calumet.

Dora Frances Arnold Foreman

Dora Frances Foreman passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at her residence at 503 Holbrook Circle. She was born Aug. 9, 1920, in Chickasha.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Nellie (Wood) Arnold; brothers, Roy Arnold, Charles Arnold and Thomas "Chick" Pittenridge; and sisters, Alma Harryman and Lavona Robinson.

She is survived by her husband, Harold "Shod" Foreman of the home; sons, Nelson and wife, Sue Stout of El Reno and Bill and wife, Julie Stout of Eucha; stepsons, Eldon and wife, Paula Foreman of Wichita, Kan., Wayland and wife, Tina Thompson of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Gladys Martin of El Reno; brothers-in-law, Earl Foreman of Hydro and Benny Foreman of El Reno; sisters-in-law, Ruby Sutton of Hydro and Dorothy Berrey of Warrenton, Mo.; grandchildren, Neletta and husband, Roger Bowers, and Jeff and wife, Carmen Stout, both of El Reno, and Donna and husband, Darryl Plunkett of Irving, Texas; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Lutz of Eucha; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at New Hope Baptist Church, 500 Reformatory Road, with Rev. Dick Kurtz officiating and Cliff Johnson assisting. Pallbearers will be Jeff Stout, Cody Stout, Roger Bowers, Darryl Plunkett, Gene Kelly and Kenneth Ray Foreman. Burial will be in the Calumet Cemetery under direction of Wilson's Funeral Home.

Memorials to Russell-Murray Hospice are appreciated. 
 

Lula Mae Griggs

Graveside services for Lula Mae Griggs of Calumet were held Friday in the Calumet Cemetery with Rev. Michelle McCarty, pastor of Calumet United Methodist Church officiating. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Griggs died Monday at Sunset Estates Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Tangier. She was a lifetime Oklahoma resident with most of that time spent in the Calumet area. She was a farmer and milker.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Gambel of Calumet; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
 

Betty Leck Jameson

Betty Leck Jameson, 77, of Calumet, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 16, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 4, 1930, to Charlotte and Cleburne Brewer in Valley Brook, Oklahoma City, and grew up in the Oklahoma City oil fields. Betty graduated from Foster High School in Oklahoma City. On July 23, 1950, she married Morris Leck of Calumet and left the city to live in the country. In the early years the only crop, Betty said, which did not fail was the baby crop. She raised four boys whom she lovingly fed wonderful home-baked meals and nurtured while also taking care of thousands of chickens that she raised on the farm.
Betty also worked through the years keeping books at Davidson & Case Lumber Company, the Calumet Y Farm Store and the Calumet Co-op. She was a member of First Christian Church, CWF ladies group and the local Home Extension Homemakers Group.

Betty loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She spent many years of her life being a caregiver to others, especially her mother and father in their later years. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and adoring grandmother who always encouraged her family and friends to look to the bright side of life. Her desire for family and friends left behind was to be happy for she had a wonderful life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband of 53 years, Morris Leck.

Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her husband of three years, Lee Roy Jameson of the home, with whom Betty treasured each moment that she spent. She is survived by her four sons, Larry Leck and wife, Robin of Oklahoma City, Tom Leck and wife, Cecelia of Hockessin, Del., Richard Leck and wife, Gay of Calumet, and Danny Leck and wife, Marsha of Calumet; a brother, Rupert Oneal Brewer of Midwest City; seven grandchildren, Kelley Wolcott and husband, Travis, Kenneth Leck and wife, Sara, Jennifer Leck, Christopher Leck, Elizabeth Jordan and husband, John, Greg Leck and Dusty Leck; three great-grandchildren, Clayton Leck, Mason Jordan and Evan Leck; the loving Jameson family; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at First Christian Church of Calumet with Rev. Tim Clausing and Rev. James Inman officiating. Burial will be in the Calumet Cemetery. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
 

Gladys May Jones

Gladys May Jones, 77, of Edmond, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Calumet Cemetery in Calumet. Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Geary.

Retired from the UCO Library, she enjoyed reading, walking, animals and nature.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lester Jones; her daughter, Helen Ann Jones and two brothers, Harry S. Coleman Jr. and Calvin C. Coleman.

Survivors in her hometown and state include two sons, Ferrald Lester Jones of Stillwater and Ronald Coleman Jones of Dewey; one daughter, Marla Jones of Edmond; two sisters, Fern Grass of Edmond and twin sister, Shirley Fox of Lodi, Mo.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Rosa Nell Mattox

Graveside services for Rosa Nell Mattox, formerly of Oklahoma City, were held Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, in the Calumet Cemetery with Rev. Darin Hedrick of Messiah Ministries Church in Oklahoma City officiating. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Rosa died Dec. 29, 2005, in Porum. She was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Sharon to her parents, Elmer Dierking and Stella Belle (Wilson) Tishhart. She grew up in Clarksville, Ark. Later she moved to Oklahoma City where she lived for many years before moving to Porum. Mrs. Mattox had worked in the peanut fields in irrigation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Clyde Mattox, brother, Charlie Dierking, and sister, Bessie Kuger.

She is survived by daughters, Bonnie Likins and husband, David of Porum and Betty Bean and husband, Ronald of Stigler; sister, Lula Mae Griggs of Calumet; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Jerry Hue McDonald

Jerry Hue McDonald, age 65, was born Jan. 22, 1944, to Thomas and Melvina McDonald at Albuquerque, N.M. Jerry died June 6, 2009, at his home in Calumet surrounded by family and friends.
Jerry graduated from Salina High School in Ypsilanti, Mich., in 1962 where he had lettered in basketball and baseball and was on the all-state basketball team in 1961 and 1962.
Jerry volunteered for the draft after high school. He served in the Army with the 618th Engineer Co. as a parachutist. He was honorably discharged in 1968. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Parachutist Badge. In 1969, he followed in his father and brother's footsteps and became an apprentice at Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 344. From 1992 until 2002, Jerry worked for Oklahoma City Public Schools, retiring in 2002.
Jerry soon discovered that he wasn't quite ready for retirement and returned to work as a journeyman plumber. Jerry retired again March 30, 2009. The last few months before he retired, he worked side by side with his two sons who had followed in his footsteps and became plumbing apprentices at Local 344. Jerry was a member of the Chickasaw Nation.
Jerry is survived by his two sons, David and John; his daughter, Christine; daughter-in-law, Katy; his wife of 37 years, Joan; and six grandchildren. Jerry also leaves behind his cousin, Oma Tatum, and his nephews, James, T.J. and Danny.
Jerry made friends wherever he went and gained respect from everyone he had ever worked with.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Yukon Community Center with burial in the Calumet Cemetery.
 

Elizabeth Ann Hoehner

Prayer services for Elizabeth Ann Hoehner, 91, of Okarche will be held at 7 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity.
Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hoehner died Saturday in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Hoehner died Nov. 1, 2008, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 10,1917, in Okarche. She was a lifelong resident of Okarche, She was a bookkeeper at B & B Agriculture for 25 years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and Altar Society and was a volunteer at Okarche Memorial Hospital.
She married Frank Hoehner on Jan. 8, 1946, at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. Frank preceded her in death on Nov. 9,1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Anna M. (Rother) Rueter; a son, Larry Hoehner; brother, Joe Rueter; sister, Barbara Scheirman; and a grandson, Travis Kuehn.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Steve Brandley of Okarche; three sisters, Antoinette Lodes of Okarche, Patricia Mueggenborg of Kingfisher and Mary Kraus of Oklahoma City; a grandson, Shawn Kuehn and wife, Angle; and four greatgrandchildren, Gage Kuehn, Breanna Kuehn, Makenah Klepise and Brice Floyd.

 

 

Joe David Hoehner

Prayer service for Joe David Hoehner was held Friday at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at Holy Trinity with Rev. Philip Louis and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Hoehner died Wednesday at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 17, 1952, in Oklahoma City. He lived most of his life in Okarche. He received his first class FCC license in 1974 and spent several years as a radio disc jockey in Oklahoma and Kansas under the name of J.D. Russell. He graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in May 1996. He worked for TCI Marketing in Edmond. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; a sister, Christine Stucks of Kingfisher; brothers, Victor LaBarge of Ada, Richard Schoppmeyer of Oregon and Michael Schoppmeyer of Delmar, N.Y.; four stepsons, Fran Gilles of Mustang, Mark Gilles and Brian Gilles, both of Kingfisher, and Keith Gilles of Okarche; and six grandchildren.

 

Clarence A. Jacobs

Mr. Jacobs died Jan. 7 at Grace Living Center in El Reno.
He was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Okarche, and was a lifetime resident of Okarche.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a retired finish carpenter and member of Holy Trinity Church and Catholic Order of Foresters.
He is survived by brothers, Bernard Jacobs and James. Jacobs, both of Okarche, and Robert Jacobs of Calumet; and sisters, Marcella Gatz of Yukon, Barbara Henke of Oklahoma City and Caroline Williams of Okarche.

 

Ralph Joseph Jacobs

 

Ralph Joseph Jacobs, 84, died Nov. 5, 2007 at his home in Okarche. Prayer service will be Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Nov. 9, both services at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Ralph was born Feb. 23, 1923 in Okarche and was a lifetime resident. He was a farmer and member of Holy Trinity Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. On April 29, 1947, he married DonElda Lemke at St. Patrick Church in OKC. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Laub Jacobs; brother, John Peter Jacobs; and sisters, Loretta Annuschat and Mary Ellen Jacobs. Ralph is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Leon Ralph and Teri Jacobs and Richard Alan and Tammy Jacobs, all of Okarche; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Kay and Larry Vogt of Okarche; brothers Clarence, Bernard, and James Jacobs, all of Okarche, and Robert Jacobs of Calumet; sisters, Marcella Gatz of Yukon, Barbara Henke of OKC and Caroline Williams of Okarche; grandchildren, Shelli Meyer and husband Larry, Shawn Vogt and wife Becky, the twins, Jarrod and Justin Vogt, Michelle Corley and husband Brian, Ryan Jacobs and wife Kayla, Jana Jacobs, the triplets, Jaclyn, Jordan and Jessica Jacobs, and Britney and Jacob ZumMallen; and great- grandchildren, Teghan, Jacksen, Morgan, and Bailey Vogt.
