Katherine Barbara Laub

 

Mrs. Andrew Laub Sr. Passes Away

Rev. Don Kanaly To Conduct
Services Here Friday

Mrs. Andrew Laub, Sr., Calumet, Route 2, died on Tuesday morning at Okarche after a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted by Father Kanaly of Calumet, at Holy Trinity Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Mrs. Laub was born March 26, 1886 in Sedalia, Mo. She came to Canadian county in 1901 and had lived in the Calumet-Okarche area since. Survivors include her husband Andrew Laub sr., of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Mansfield, Okarche, and Mrs. Leo Koetter, Elgin;
eight sons, Paul, El Reno; Andrew, Peter, John, Matt, Joe, Frank and Lawrence Laub, all of Calumet, route 2; two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Meistrel [sic] Tulsa, and Mrs. George Alig Okarche and 30 grandchildren.

Laureta E. Laub

Prayer service for Laureta E. Laub was held Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Benson Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Calumet with Rev. Phil Donohoe officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laub died Oct. 13, 2007, at Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher. She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Calumet. She was a lifelong resident of Calumet. She taught at Holy Trinity School in Okarche and the rural schools, Corner Door, Pleasant Home and Enterprise. After retiring, she obtained her master's degree in special education and tutored students. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Altar Society and Home Extension.

She married John A. Laub on Nov. 2, 1938. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1988.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Elizabeth (Carson) Jensen.

She is survived by a son, Bill Laub and wife, Judy of Sulphur Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Patrick Laub and wife, Jennifer, and Christopher Neal and wife, Michelle; and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Hunter
 

Charles J. Lodes

Prayer service for Charles J. Lodes was held Feb. 15 at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 16 at Holy Trinity with Rev. Marvin Leven and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Lodes died Feb. 12 at Coles Nursing Center in Guthrie. He was born April 12, 1922, in Okarche. He was a lifetime resident of Okarche and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer and was retired from Okarche Co-op. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Hau Lodes of the home; children, Dan Lodes of Oklahoma City, Patrick Lodes of Okarche, Mary Isbell of Edmond, Mike Lodes of Yukon and Sherry Stotts of Enid; sisters, Lucille Harrah of Ponca City, Alice Hansman of Albuquerque, N.M., Rita Simon of Wichita, Kan., and Cleo Murray of Tuscon, Ariz.; and 13 grandchildren.

 

 

 

Joseph Lodes Jr.

Prayer service for Joseph C. Lodes Jr. was held Friday at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday at Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Philip Louis and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Lodes died Wednesday at his home in Okarche. He was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Okarche, and was a lifelong resident. He was a retired foreman with Schwarz Concrete and member of Holy Trinity.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

 

Mary Elizabeth Lodes

Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home

Mrs. Lodes died Thursday at Presbyterian Tower, OU Medical Center. She was born April 8, 1923, at Farmerville, La. She was a former resident of Okarche and member of Holy Trinity Church. She worked as a caregiver.

She is survived by daughters, Pamela Kay (Harvell) Alonzo of Bethany and Helen Elaine (Lodes) Heu of Oklahoma City; a brother, Bobby Phelps of El Paso; a sister, Floy Inman of Pineville, La.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

 

Robert Paul Lodes

 

Robert Lodes, 78, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.
Service: Mass and burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche, Okla. Rosary: 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
Bob was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Okarche, Okla., where he found the love of his life, Trudy. He proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired as a civil employee of the FAA.
He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved playing with his grandbabies, fishing and just generally helping anyone who asked. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors: Children, Steven and wife, Linda, Gary and wife, Debbie, Denise and husband, Jenks Garrett, Robert and wife, Tracy, Wanda and husband, Bruce Cox, John and wife, Lizanne; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings; and many treasured friends and family.

Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Ludwig died May 17, 2008, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital in Kingfisher. He was born April 16,1922, in Okarche. He was a lifetime resident of Okarche. He was a farmer and insurance agent for several companies including Oklahoma Farmers Union. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of
Foresters.
He married Marian Hufnagel on April 28,1943. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Harry G. and Matilda M. Ziegler Ludwig, and a son-in-law, Allen McCully.
He is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Donald "Wayne" Ludwig and wife, Dianne of Okarche, Paul Ludwig of Okarche, Eloise McCully of Kingfisher, John Ludwig and wife, Karla of Okarche, Joan Stone and husband, Tom of Okarche, Ruth Beal and husband, John of Yukon, Ed Ludwig and wife, Jo of Okarche, Kenneth Ludwig of Okarche, Mary Rother and husband, Bob of Okarche, and Gary Ludwig and wife, Carole of Okarche; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
 

Anthony J. Mendel

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16 at Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Philip Louis and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Mendel died Nov. 12, 2007, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Okarche. He was a lifetime resident of Okarche and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a homebuilder and worked in the lumber business for 35 years and later worked at Temtrol for 15 years. He was a member of the Okarche Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years and was assistant fire chief for the last two years. He coached Little League baseball in Okarche for many years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church and Catholic Order of Foresters.
He married Bonnye Lee Niles on Nov. 15, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in El Reno. Bonnye preceded him in death on April 20, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Melcher Mendel, and a brother, Martin Mendel.
He is survived by three sons, Tony Mendel Jr. and wife, Beci of Edmond, Randy Mendel and wife, Cindy of Enid and Mike Mendel and wife, Kim of Okarche; three daughters, Sue Mendel of the home, Sandy Weber of Edmond and Gina Baustert and husband, Mike of Okarche; four sisters, Betty Keuhn of Okarche, Theresa Meyer of Morrison, Louise Kastl of El Reno and Mary Agnes Sigl of Holdrege, Neb.; 12 grandchildren, Kris Mendel, Jessie Seymour and husband, Trampus, Kylie Mendel, Tami Weber, Troy Weber and wife, Amy, Amy McKinney and husband, Damon, Kurt Mendel and wife, Kelly, Jennifer Smith and husband, Cass, Courtney Baustert, Jonathan Baustert, Kelly Mendel and Staci Mendel; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyson Mendel, Gus Mendel, Zeb Seymour, Zane Seymour, Logan McKinney, Mya McKinney, Cameron Smith, Josiah Smith, Clayton Smith and Randa Smith.

Bonnye Lee Mendel

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 24 at Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Philip Louis officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mendel died April 20, 2006, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in El Reno. She moved to Okarche in 1952 from El Reno. She worked at Allison Grocery Store from age 14 until 1949, operated an in-home day care and later was service desk manager at Wal-Mart in El Reno from its opening until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She served as chairman of the American Cancer Society and American Heart Associa-tion fund drives in Okarche.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey C. and Viola Grace (Folsom) Niles; five brothers, Bill, Albert, Delmer, Derrold and Alton "Kate" Niles; and four sisters, Juanita Davis, Sylvia Collins, Iona Shawver and Leota Kroll.

She married Tony Mendel on Nov. 15, 1948, at Sacred Heart Church in El Reno. Tony survives her in death.

Gerald T. Meyer, Sr.

 

Gerald T. Meyer, Sr. was born on May 12, 1937 to Everett and Gertrude (Stieferman) Meyer in Okarche, OK. He passed away on June 26, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 72. Gerald attended Mountain View Elementary and Sacred Heart and graduated from El Reno High School in 1956, where he was active in FFA and showing livestock. He worked for over 20 years at Gulfstream & Commander Aircraft. Gerald was a member of the Canadian County Farm Bureau Board. He married Elaine Ottis on October 21, 1961 in Okarche, OK. He enjoyed farming and ranching. Survivors Include: his wife, Elaine of the home, Calumet, OK; 3 children: Jamie Perkins and husband Tim of El Reno, OK; Jerry Meyer of Calumet, OK; and Randy Meyer and wife Robin of Sperry, OK; grandchildren: Courtney Burns and Mark Burns of El Reno, OK; and Mason and Tanner Meyer of Sperry, OK; great-grandchildren: Aspen and Dixie Burns of El Reno, OK; sister, Ruth Ellen Jones and husband Monty of Bella Vista, AR; brothers: Earl Meyer and wife Janna of OKC, OK; and Ken Meyer and wife Marilyn of El Reno, OK. Marilou Carol “Kremeier” Mueggenborg

 

Raymond Harold Mueggenborg, 59, and Marilou Carol Mueggenborg, 53, of Okarche, OK, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Sanders Funeral Service of Kingfisher. Raymond Harold Mueggenborg was born June 5, 1948. Marilou Carol Mueggenborg was born Dec. 5, 1953. They were united in marriage on May 15, 1976 in Okarche, OK. Raymond and Marilou are survived by two sons, Cliff Mueggenborg and wife Karla and Vince Mueggenborg and wife Stephanie, all of Okarche; two daughters, Karyn McIlvain and husband Ryan of Clearwater, Kansas, and Jayne Hudson and husband Glendon of Oklahoma City; and seven grandchildren, Dylan, Chelsea, Mason, Preston, Hannah, and Hunter Mueggenborg, all of Okarche, and Abby McIlvain of Clearwater. Emma Gertrude Mueggenbourg

Prayer service for Emma Gertrude Mueggenborg was held March 13 at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial was held March 14 at Holy Trinity with Rev. Arul Sundar and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mueggenborg died March 9 at Grace Living Center. She was born April 3, 1911, in Ratcliff, Ark. She was a longtime resident of Okarche. She was a homemaker and member of Holy Trinity Church and Altar Society.

She is survived by a son, Harold Mueggenborg of Okarche; daughters, Caroline Chambers of Bethany and Christine Kuelzer of Kingfisher; brothers, John Huck of Lewisville, Texas, and August Huck of Redway, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

 

 

Paul M. Rund

 

Paul M. Rund, 84, of OKC, passed away Nov. 15, 2006. He was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Okarche, OK to Val & Marie Rund. Paul retired from Gulfstream Aerospace, where he worked as a hydropress operator. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, & gardener. Always thinking of others, Paul loved to share his harvest with his siblings and his St. James Catholic church family. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille in 2003; and a brother & sister. He is survived by his 11 brothers & sisters and numerous nieces & nephews. Wake services will be held 6:30 PM Mon. Nov. 20, 2006 at St. James Catholic Church (SW 41st & McKinley). Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Tues. Nov. 21, 2006 at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Cem. in Okarche, OK.

John Francis Schaefer

 

John Francis Schaefer (J. Francis) was born on June 4, 1926 to John H. and Elizabeth Leona Naberhaus Schaefer in Okarche, OK. He was raised in Okarche and graduated from Holy Trinity School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Loretta Margaret Voss on Jan. 11, 1950. In Oct. 1955, he was employed by the Farmers Co-op and served as manager from Feb 1959 until he retired in 1989. Francis was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was President of Holy Trinity Church Parish Council, Grand Knight on Knights of Columbus and a member of the Catholic Foresters. He was survived by his wife, Loretta; two daughters, Carol Moore, Joan Meyer; and three sons, Paul, Steven and John; sisters, Elizabeth (Pat) Skala, Judy Easlon, Janet Cosgrove, Linda Suchak; and brothers, William, Robert, Mike, and Karl; and 13 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beatrice; and a brother, Eugene. Francis died Oct. 10, 2007 at his home in Okarche. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13, 2007, at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. 

 

Eileen Schulte

Eileen Simmons Schulte, 88, of Okarche, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at her home near Okarche. Eileen was born June 6, 1917, to Essa and Sewell Simmons of Yukon. She grew up on farms north of Yukon which later became Surrey Hills. Eileen married Frank Schulte on Nov. 27, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1980. She attended the University of Central Oklahoma and Blackwood School of Business.

She is survived by a sister, Joyce Hildebrand of Nashville, Tenn.; and five children, Stephen Schulte of Okarche, Mary Parrish and husband, Daniel of Edmond, George Schulte and wife, Theresa of Okarche, John Schulte of Okarche and Paul Schulte and wife, Carolyn of Kingfisher. She has four loving grandchildren, Katie Schneiter of Oklahoma City, Scott Parrish of Denver, Colo., Mike Schulte of Okarche and Anne Parrish of Edmond; two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A wake service was held Friday, March 3 at 6 p.m. with a funeral Mass held on Saturday. Both services were at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche. Burial followed in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery south of Okarche. Services were under direction of Smith and Turner Mortuary, Yukon.

Prayer service for Mary Grellner Schwarz was held Sunday, May 13, 2007, at Holy Trinity Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 14 at Holy Trinity Church with Revs. Elmer Schwarz and Philip Louis and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Schwarz died May 11, 2007, at her home in Okarche. She was born Jan. 23, 1909, in Okarche. She was a lifelong resident of Okarche and a homemaker and mother of 10 children. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Altar Society. She married Frank P. Schwarz on May 5, 1931. Frank preceded her in death on Aug.13, 1992.

She is survived by children and grandchildren, Emalene Schwarz, wife of her late son, Arnold Schwarz, and their children, Diane, Ron and Keith; Robert Schwarz and wife, JoAnn, and their children, Anthony and Chris; Sister Mary Denise Schwarz; Richard Schwarz and his late wife, Marilyn Schwarz, and their children, Kelly, Doug and Barry; Jon James, husband of her late daughter, Rose Schwarz James, and their children, Scott, Gavin and Jenny; Max Schwarz and wife, Pat, and their children, Dan, Dave, Steve, Jim and Joe; Helen Bice and husband, Frank, and their children, Gef, Lisa and Julie; Joan Anderson and husband, Jerry, and their children, Jamie, Jerry Jr. and Justin; Steve Schwarz and wife, Becky, and their children, Michael and Megan; 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Others preceding her in death were her parents, John and Anna (Bogner) Grellner; daughter, Agnes Ann Schwarz; brothers, Richard Grellner, John Grellner, Monsignor Joseph J. Grellner and Peter Grellner; and sisters, Catherine Grellner, Sister Magdalen, Sister Zenona and Sister Mary Ann.

Stacy Christine Schweitzer

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Holy Trinity with Rev. Philip Louis officiating. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Stacy died Dec. 9, 2005, in Calumet. She was born April 24, 1974, in Okarche and lived there most of her life. She worked for Collins Construction and Collins Racing. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church. She never met a stranger, loved cats and was an artist.

She is survived by her parents, Tom and Reba Schweitzer of Thomas and Donna and Merlin Collins of Okarche; a brother, Arthur John Collins of Okarche; sisters, Dee Schweitzer and husband, Jeff Davison of Oklahoma City and Natasha Schweitzer and friend, Sherri Ragsdale of Norman; stepbrothers, John Simon of Sugarland, Texas, and Chris Collins of Shelbyville, Ky.; stepsister, Cindy Donnelly and husband, John of Shelbyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

 

 

Tina Marie Schweitzer

 

Calumet, Okla. - Tina Marie Schweitzer of Calumet and formerly of Redfield died Dec. 11, 2005, at her home in Calumet. A prayer service was Thursday, Dec. 15, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Calumet. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Rev. Omar Tabing will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. She was born Jan. 25, 1968, in Okarche. She lived most of her life in Okarche and Calumet. She graduated from Okarche High School and the Kingfisher County Chisholm Trail Technology Center. She was a licensed practical nurse caring for mentally challenged adults and at one time was an LPN at the South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She is survived by her parents, Patricia Schweitzer of Calumet, and Rick and Danna Schweitzer of Okarche; brothers, Rodney Schweitzer of Redfield, S.D., and David Schweitzer of Okarche; sisters, Tracy Dilley of Oklahoma City, and Cathy Vaughn of Purcell; stepbrothers, Mickey Phillips of Dallas, and Ian Phillips of Kingfisher; and stepsister, Chris Touchette of Texarkana, Texas.

Vincent Francis Simpson

 

Vincent Francis Simpson, 43, died Oct. 12, 2007, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital in Kingfisher. Prayer service will be 7 p.m., Oct. 15, 2007 and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Oct. 16, 2007. Both services will be at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery with military honors. Vince was born Jan. 1, 1964 in Okarche, the son of Gooder and Virginia (Rother) Simpson. He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1982 and from OSU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988. He was commissioned 2nd Lt in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1989 and served in the Gulf War from Nov. 1990 to May 1991 as a communications officer. He participated in the Bangladesh humanitarian effort in 1991 and later was a communications officer at Camp Pendleton, CA. He was transferred from active duty to reserve in 1991, holding the rank of Captain at his discharge. He was employed by CMI for 9 years as a project engineer. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church serving on the Parish Council and the Lions Club. On March 17, 1990, Vince married Toni Lynn Donaldson. Toni survives him in death. He is also survived by sons, Stewart Mitchell Simpson, and Samuel Paul Simpson; sisters, Theresa Schulte and Mary Nell Brueggen; brothers, Mark Simpson, Robert Simpson and John Mike Simpson; 14 nieces and nephews. Dustin Conley Stoner

 

Dustin Conley Stoner was born January 6, 2006 to Kenneth and Emily Stoner of Moore, OK. He departed this life August 11, 2006. Dusty was actively involved in both teething and crawling backwards. Survivors include his parents, grandparents Steven and Rose Klinnert of Okarche, and Michael Conley and Violet Mast of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his uncle Randall Klinnert, great-grandpa Edward Vogt, great-grandma Glenda Conley, great-grandparents Loren and Judith Mast, and great-grandma Dorothy Klinnert. Dusty was preceded in death by his great-grandma Loretta Vogt and great-grandpas Eddie Klinnert and Robert Conley. Graveside services 10AM Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Okarche, OK.
