Jack L. Allen

Funeral services for State Trooper Jack L. Allen, 63, of Lexington were held Thursday, July 28, 2005, at Wadley's Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Pierce and the Reverend Sam Garner officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of Wadley's Funeral Service in Purcell. Mr. Allen died July 24, 2005, at Norman Regional Hospital. He was born March 21, 1942, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of Everett Doyle and Anna Caddell Allen. He graduated from Ada High School and attended East Central University in Ada. He had lived in Lexington since 1967, coming from Ada. Mr. Allen married Joye Jay Aug. 7, 1986 in Oklahoma City. He worked for the Ada Police Department for one year, then joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, retiring in 1986. After retiring he worked for the Purcell Police Department as assistant police chief for 3-1/2 years, Lexington Police Department for 2-1/2 years, Joseph Harp Correctional Center for 1-1/2 years and Cedar Creek Nursing Home as maintenance supervisor for 2-1/2 years. Mr. Allen was a member of the Troopers Associaton and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Allen and a stepdaughter, Glenda Marie. Survivors include his wife, Joye Allen, of the home; two sons, Carl Allen and his wife, Renee, and Joe Allen and his fiance, Tina Gregory, both of Ada; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Wyatt and her husband, Terry, of Luther; three sisters, Gail Hammond and her husband, Don, of Shawnee, Judy Dooley and her husband, Bob, of Cushing and Carolyn Carwell and her husband, Mark, of New Hampshire; a sister-in-law, Della C. Allen of Bloomingdale, Ill., and four grandchildren. 

 

Edna Alene McGee

Funeral services for Edna Alene McGee Barnes, 91, Rosedale, OK, were held Sept. 17, 2007 at Rosedale Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Wooster officiating. Interment was under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home, Purcell. Mrs. Barnes died at the Lexington Nursing Home.

One of 13 children of Samuel Thomas McGee and Sarah Ellison McGee, early Oklahoma pioneers, she was reared in Okemah where she graduated from high school in 1934. A graduate of East Central College, Ada, OK, she received her degree in elementary education and began teaching at Rosedale Elementary School, Rosedale, McClain Co., OK. It was there that she met her husband, Orel Clarence Barnes, and they were married Aug. 30, 1940 in Ada.

Her teaching career spanned 33 years, including 15 years in Rosedale, Blanchard, Middleburg, Noble, Pauls Valley and Lindsay, OK. In 1957, Mr. Barnes's job moved them to Baytown, TX, where she taught 18 years at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School.

A member of Rosedale Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orel Sept. 5, 2003 and 12 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include sons, Joe Barnes, Rosedale, and James Barnes and his wife, Betty, Angel Fire, N.M.; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Barnes, Brent Holt, James Swain, David Osborne, Tracy Boles and Justin Boles.

Gary R. Bebout

Funeral services for Gary R. Bebout, 54, of Norman were held Aug. 19, 2006 at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell with the Rev. Barry McConathy officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Bebout died Aug. 16, 2006 following a boating accident at Lake Thunderbird.
He was born Feb. 16, 1952 in Blythe, Calif., a twin, and the 11th of 12 children of John Howard Bebout and Nina Lee Roten Bebout. He was reared on a dairy farm in the Fairview community southwest of Purcell, attending Wayne Public Schools, graduating in the class of 1970.
Mr. Bebout worked as a mechanic most of his life. For the past 20 years he participated in boat racing and was a member of the OKC Jet Boat Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ken Bebout; one sister, Joyce Murray; two nephews, Tim and Jeff and one great-nephew, Austin VanWinkle.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Glenna Bebout, of the home in Norman; two sons, Brandon Bebout and his wife, Lindsay, and Bobby Bebout and his wife, Jackie, all of Tulsa; two daughters, Kim Lemons and her husband, Jerry, of Lawton and Kelli Stanfield and her husband, Wendell, of Moore; six brothers, John Bebout and his wife, Edna, of Payson, Ariz., Boyd Bebout and his wife, Lawana, Dennis Bebout and Larry Bebout, all of Purcell, Don Bebout and his wife, Peggy, of Wayne and Dale Bebout and his wife, Marilyn, of Washington; three sisters, Martha George and her husband, Lowell, and Linda Womack, all of Purcell, and Diane Garrett and her husband, Carl, of Bartlesville and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Farrell and Boyd, Don, Dale, Dennis and Larry Bebout.
Honorary pallbearers were Brian Andrews, Lowell George, Jimmy Hill, Tim Case, Tim Lovin, Joe Spencer, Steve Yeager, Brian Geist, Wayne Kokendoffer, Bruce Hunter and Kevin Helm.

Bennie Charles Bell

Bennie Charles Bell, 69, of Moore died Monday, June 26. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Hillside Cemetery, Purcell. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home -- Chapel, Moore.

Mr. Bell was born June 9, 1937, in Purcell, to James and Stella Bell. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for over 30 years. He enjoyed working on computers and doing genealogy, but his first love was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Twila Bell; sons Michael Bell of Moore and Steven Bell and fiance' Karen Babcock of Norman; eight grandchildren, Brandon Babcock, Tyler, Twyla, William and Steven Jr. Bell, Sophie and Reva Wooters and William Taylor; two sisters, Chessteen Olsen and husband Alvin of Lexington and Wanda Ward of Purcell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
 

Donnie Lee Black

Donnie Lee, son of A. E. and Jewell Black, died on June 6th, 1958 as the result of a drowning accident while fishing. He had just graduated Lindsay High school and was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, Donnie leaves to mourn his passing his grandfather, Sam S. Black, of Lexington, and other relatives and friends. 

Lavona Brown-Hutton

Lavona Brown-Hutton of Purcell passed away in Norman April 2, 2009. She was 73. Lavona was born to Howard McCall and Lorene Berry in Wanette, OK on November 23, 1935. She graduated from Washington High School in May 1953. She married the late Elmer Roy Brown January 24, 1956 they had one son, Rodney Wayne Brown. As a family they enjoyed many summer trips to Colorado, camping and fishing. She loved the outdoors, gardening and decorating her home. Lavona touched many people with her sweet demeanor. Virtually everyone who knew her says she's the sweetest woman they have ever met. Several years after the death of her husband she married the late Buster Bill Hutton of Frederick, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard & Lorene McCall and her husband, Elmer Roy Brown. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Pam Brown of Norman brother, Dr. Jerry Don McCall and wife Vicki of Purcell grandchildren: Lindsay Brown, Nicholas Brown, Jordan Brown and great-granddaughter, Kellie Le'Ann McCracken, all of Norman niece, Rhonda Lovett of Tulsa nephews: Bryan McCall of New York, Scott Brown of Sulphur, OK and Dale Brown of Dallas TX. Services are Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2pm, Wadley's Funeral Chapel, 303 West Washington, Purcell OK. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, OK.

Jewel Margaret Guess Cardinal

Jewell Cardinal, 93, of Lexington died Thursday, July 10, at the Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.

Jewell Margaret Guess was born July 13, 1914, in Kingston, to Emmet Guess and Willie May (Crabtree) Guess.

She is survived by son Leo Cardinal Jr.; daughters Carmen Bishop and Delores Mitchell; sister Jean Duvall; brothers Ernest Guess and Merle Guess; 10 grandchildren,19 great-grandchildren and many great-greats; and other family and friends.

William Carl "Bill" Crane


Funeral services for William Carl "Bill" Crane, 59, of Shawnee will be held today (Thursday), Feb. 13, 2003 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim McGoo officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery with Navy honors under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Crane died Feb. 9, 2003 at the O.U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
He was born Nov. 26, 1943 in Davis, the third of four children born to Noah Crane and Viola (Stribling) Crane. He was reared in Davis, graduating from Davis High School.
Mr. Crane joined the United States Navy Nov. 28, 1960 and was honorably discharged July 15, 1966. He then returned to Oklahoma and lived in Ardmore and Davis.
He worked as a welder for a trailer company in Springer for several years.
Mr. Crane married Ladascode "Lou" Collins Dec. 28, 1989 in Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Billy Crane and a sister, Marie Mediola.
Survivors include his wife, Ladascode "Lou" Crane, of the home; two sons, Christopher Bryant Crane of Tahlequah and Alfred C. Medina of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Bobby Joe Crane of Phoeniz, Ariz.; one sister, Dorothy Jones and her husband, Billy Ray, of Wynnewood and two grandchildren.

Carol Ann Wire

 

Carol Ann 'Annie' Wire went to her eternal home October 20, 2007. She was born to Charles and Lucille Wright on December 18, 1937 in Norman, Oklahoma. She attended Norman Schools and received a degree in Elementary Education. Carol taught school in Rawlins, Wyoming and finished her career in the Norman School District. She was a very talented individual who loved to sew, read, cook and listen to music. One of her greatest gifts was the ability to love and serve others. She is survived by her precious spouse, David L. Wire and her children, Susan (Paul) Hunter, Stan (Kathy) White, and Steve (Melanie) White and David L. Wire Jr. She also leaves behind her sisters, Bess (Jim) Frost, Linda Kay (Tom) Cutsinger, and Dee Dee (Wendell) Almeida and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Charlene Levy, Dina Woods and Bob Wright; and her parents, Charles and Lucille Wright; a grandson and two great-grandchildren. She was affectionately called 'Gran' by her 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, on Wednesday from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2007, 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of LatterDay Saints, 5020 NW 63rd in Oklahoma City. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Blackburn Cemetery in Norman.

 

 

Tommy Walton

 

Tommy 'Tom' Walton, 59, of McLoud, OK, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007.

He was born to the late Willie and Etta Leftwich Walton on August 22, 1947 in Spencerville, OK.

Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved the outdoors, training and racing horses, fishing, hunting and all kinds of sports. Tom always had a story to tell. His laugh will be truly missed. Tom had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those he loved. He meant so much to so many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Tom proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked several different jobs before ending up at Tinker AFB for 20+ years as an electrical supervisor.

Tom is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Huff-Walton, McLoud; 3 sons, David Walton, OKC, Eric Walton and wife Sarah, Choctaw, Joseph Reyna, Edmond; 1 granddaughter, Zoe 'Stormey' Walton; 5 brothers, Burnie Walton and wife Rose, Piedmont, OK, Floyd Walton and wife Minnie, McLoud, OK, Robert 'Bob' Walton and wife Mary, OKC, OK, Lester Walton and wife Cheryl, Lindsey, OK, Leonard Walton and wife Donna, Washington, OK; 3 sisters, Shirley and husband David Krause, OKC, OK, Joyce and husband Neil Sanders, OKC, OK, Sue and husband Dennis Meisenheimmer, Carlton, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary Ann Walton

 

Mary Ann Walton passed from this life on February 13, 2008.

Mary was born May 3, 1944, to the late Francis Wayne and Anna Woolery, in Marshall, Missouri.

She was married to Bob Walton, on October 25, 1963. They were married for 44 years and had 4 sons.

Mary is survived by her husband, Bob; sons, James Walton of OKC, Danny Walton of OKC, and Joey and Samantha Walton of OKC. Mary was preceded in death by the eldest son, Johnny Walton-Burkhart. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Woolery of Harrah, OK and one sister, Caroline Huff of Marshall, Missouri.

Mary had 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.

Mary worked for the State of Oklahoma until she retired in 2002. She was loved and will be missed by all.

Services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, at the Advantage Funeral Home/Branstetter Chapel of OKC, with interment at Blackburn Cemetery in Norman.

Etta Belle Walton

 

Etta Belle (Granny) Walton, 94, of 320 N. Eastern, Moore OK, went home to be with Jesus on Sept. 4, 2006 at 9:00 am.

Etta, along with her husband Willie, and their eight children, moved from Paris, Texas to live in Oklahoma in 1959. Etta and Willie were married for 67 years.

Willie preceded her in death on March 29, 1996. They had a son, Orville Taylor who preceded them in death in 1982.

Survivors include Burnie Walton and wife, Rose of Piedmont OK, Floyd Walton and wife, Minnie of McCloud, OK, Robert Walton and wife, Mary of Oklahoma City, Tom Walton & wife, Betty of Newalla OK, Leonard Walton and wife, Donna of Washington OK, Lester Walton and wife, Cheryl of Lindsay, OK, Shirley Krause and husband, David of Oklahoma City, Joyce Sanders and husband, Rev. Neil Sanders of Oklahoma City, Sue Meisenheimer and husband, Dennis of Carlton, Georgia, 28 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, 8 great-greatgrandchildren, along with many friends and loved ones. William W. Upchurch


William W. Upchurch, 85, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the Wadley Care Center in Purcell, OK. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M., to 9:00 P.M., with family present from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., on Friday, September 15, 2006, at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 16, 2006, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Blackburn Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Bill was born southeast of Lexington, OK on March 24, 1921 to John and Theo Upchurch.
He and his family eked out a living on the family farm and survived the Oklahoma dust bowl. He received his secondary education at Buckhead School and later graduated from Norman High School.
His college plans were interrupted when World War II broke out and he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Bill graduated from navigator school and was sent to England to fly B-17 Flying Fortress bombers with the "Mighty 8th" Air Force. From his base in Snetteron Heath in East Anglia he flew many missions against enemy targets in Germany, France, and other axis strongholds in Europe. After the war he returned home to fall in love with and marry Martha Orene Dodd. Their Air Force assignments took Bill and Orene to Japan, Germany and various places in the USA, but they always provided a loving home for their three children (Wesley, Phillip and Barbara). Bill obtained a Masters in Science in Meteorology from Florida State University in 1958. He finished his Air Force career as a Lieutenant Colonel working as a meteorologist at Strategic Air Command Headquarters at Offutt AFB, NB. Later he established a second career with the Civil Service in the Central Intelligence Agency. His expertise in meteorology was highly sought after in many covert operations protecting US national interest. Lieutenant Colonel Bill (Uppie) Upchurch was one of the World War II heroes who have come to be known as "The Greatest Generation" of Americans. He and his comrades represent the very finest we as a nation offered in a time of grave national crises during World War II and its uncertain aftermath. His military decorations include several awards of the Air Medal, for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial combat in Europe and Korea. In his retirement years Bill pursued his passion for family history and was actively with the Cleveland County Genealogical Society. Bill Upchurch was a loving husband, father, and a patriot. He will be missed by family and friends who loved him so dearly.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John Upchurch and Theo (Vanwinkle) Upchurch, his wife Martha Orene (Dodd) Upchurch and his first son, Wesley Wayne Upchurch. He is survived by his sister, Edna Burks; his son, Phillip Upchurch; his daughter, Barbara Antozzi; five
grandchildren, Mistie Murphy, Christin Blue, James Upchurch, Brittney Antozzi and Logan Antozzi; and two great grandchildren, Madison Blue and TJ Murphey.

Phyllis J. Rollins

 

Phyllis J., 78, passed away October 13, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born in Moore, Oklahoma on June 06, 1931 to Leslie R. and Virginia Kitchen.

Phyllis was artistic and enjoyed carpentry and refinishing furniture. She was an outstanding seamstress and cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dalton Rollins of the home; four sons, Steven D. Rollins and wife Sandra of Oklahoma City, Michael G. Rollins and wife Deborah of Moore, Bob A. Rollins and wife Judy of Moore, and Donald G. Rollins and Pat Mason of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Beverly A. Barney & husband William of Arlington, TX, and Scharlotte Van Voast of Oklahoma City; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday October 16, 2009 at Southern Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Blackburn Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Gage Lee Roberts

 

Gage Lee Roberts, two month old son of Roy and Lindsi Roberts, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

The family will be having lunch at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Meeting Place.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brumley-Mills Chapel with Pastor Felix Waller officiating. Burial will be at Blackburn Cemetery near Norman. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Survivors include his parents, Roy and Lindsi Roberts; a sister, Ashtyn Ivey; a brother, Colten Roberts; maternal grandparents, Joe and Renee Tate, and Dennis Copeland and Regina Vaughn; paternal grandparents, Roy Sr. and Rose Roberts, and Tina Barnett.

Also, great-grandparents, Derryll and Linda Roberts, Carlene Copeland, Jackie Copeland, and L.D. and Alice Roberts; uncles, Jered Copeland, Tyler Copeland, and Lesley Wood.

And, aunts, Rachel Doss, Hannah Copeland, Cassie Roberts, Sue Ann Williams, Megan Williams, Donna Wood, Bobbie Wood, Jerrie Wood and Sharon Wood; great-aunts and great-uncles, Robin Rau, Janice Roberts, Kay Roberts, Shelly Combs, Justin Bouska, Robbie Copeland, Larry Don Roberts, and James Andy Roberts, and great-great-grandma, Peggy Pearson.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandmother, Audrey Wolf; great-aunt, Becky Sue Patterson, and family friend, Kristopher Pedigo. 

 

 

Kirt Price

 

Kirt Price, age 69 passed away February 19, 2009 at his home. Kirt was born August 26, 1939 in Moore, OK to Charlie and Iona Thompson Price. He has lived in OKC most of his life. Kirt graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center and Ministry of Helps in Tulsa. He was a service tech for Delta X-Ray for several years and retired in 1996. Kirt was dedicated to his family and his church. He was preceded in death by his parents daughter, Deborah and 3 brothers, Wade, Donald and Clyde. He is survived by Edwina, his wife of 35 years children, Myrna, Scott, Kevin, Lora, Lisa and Steven sister, Cheryl Norton sister-in-law, Sharon Price also numerous grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2009 at Harvest Time Ministries with burial following at Blackburn Cemetery in Norman, OK.

Prudy Moses

 

Norman – Services for Mrs. Prudy Moses, 76, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Primrose Funeral Home, with burial in Blackburn Cemetery. She died Saturday at Norman Municipal Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; two sons,, Paul and Amos, both of Norman; two daughters, Mrs. Ella Murphy, Tulsa; and Mrs. Lee Bowles, Norman; and three sisters, Mrs. Dicie Evans, Mrs. Dovie Alexander, both of Norman; and Mrs. Myrtle Musick, Marland.

  

Ronnald Leon Mixon

 

Ronnald “Ronnie” Leon Mixon, 36, of Norman, Oklahoma died Tuesday, April 26 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Ronnie was born October 19, 1968, to Leon and Beth Mixon in Guthrie, Oklahoma. He graduated from Mangum High School in 1986. On June 1, 2002 he married LaDonna Sneed. Ronnie worked for his uncle David in construction.

He is survived by his wife Ladonna of the home; three sons, Jeremy Sneed of Norman; Carl Wilson of the home; Christopher Wilson of the home; his parents, Leon and Beth Mixon of Norman; a brother, Robert Mixon and his wife, Billie of Norman; a sister, Carol Blood and her husband, Steven of Norman; maternal grandmother, Claire Lewis of Norman; a granddaughter, Kizzi Sneed; two nieces, Renay Blood, Cortney Blood; three nephews, Casey Mixon, Michael Mixon and Rhett Mixon. His Uncle Ronnie (who he was named after) and Aunt Judi Collings, their two sons Rocky & Russell Collings and daughter Wende Melvin. And numerous other nieces and nephews.

Houston Tyler 7 & Hunter Riley 4 of Norman, Ok went to be with Jesus on August 29, 2005. Houston and Hunter loved to fish, sing and dance, work with mom and dad and play with their brother and friends. Everyone was always a buddy to them. From the time Hunter was born he was always with Houston, best friends from the start. Even when they fought you couldn't break them apart. No matter what Houston did, Hunter would always follow. Nothing could stop them, not even tomorrow. In one moment they touched your life in a way that would last forever. These two gifts from God are survived by their parents, Paul and Lacie Mcdaniel; one brother Hayden; grandparents Don and Helen Evans, Janice Foshee, Terry Mcdaniel, Jim King, Kim and Keith Swope. Many aunts, uncles and cousins. Best friends Kyle and Kerry and Shelby, and endless amounts of friends and family. A special thank you to God and all the hospitals staff, fireman, police officers and especially the detectives at the Norman Police Department. Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming support of the people that knew them and especially the people who have given that never had the chance to be blessed by these two angels, You all have been a blessing to them.
