Vanley – Stecher
Miss Joyce Ann Stecher daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Stecher was married to James R. Vanley of Pauls Valley,
Oklahoma, at 6:30 o’clock Sunday evening in the Lutheran church, Rev. K. J. Karstensen officiated at the double
ring ceremony.
Tall baskets of peach gladioli and baby breath banked the candle lighted altar. Nuptial music was played on the
organ by Mrs. Eugene Popp.
The bride was beautiful in a street length wedding dress of white satin. Her matching sweetheart profile hat with
glaumelias held a soft shoulder length bridal veil of illusion, She carried a white prayer book topped with a
white orchid.
Miss Rena Hartzler, maid of honor, was gowned in a street dress with low circular neck line. She carried a nosegay
of roses and carnations.
Miss Lois Johnston and Mrs. William Hauser, bride-maids, were dressed in champagne and yellow organdy dresses.
Each carried nosegays of roses and carnations.
Mr. Melvin Vanley, brother of the groom, was best man.
Mrs. Stecher, mother of the bride wore a dress of powder blue shadow sheer, Her corsage was of salmon pink carnations.
A reception was held following the ceremony. A four-tier wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom
centered the beautiful candle lighted serving table. Pink rose buds, baby breath and greenery encircled the cake.
Pink and white satin steamers were also used as decorations.
Mrs. Wayne Hoskinson of Wichita sister of the bride served the wedding cake.
Shirley Jean Hoskinson, niece of the bride was in charge of the guest book. Others assisting were: Misses Wando
Hoffer, Norma Heidebrecht, Eula Jean Stecher, Evelyn McCormick, Mmes. Kenneth Bauman, Morris Hoffer an V. W. Maupin.
The bride chose for her going away costume a dress of green and white butcher linen. Her accessories were white.
Mr. and Mrs. Vanley will be at home at Pauls Valley, Okla., were he is employed by the Judy Oil Co.
