Leslie Etter

Funeral services for Leslie Etter of Phoenix, Arizona were held at the cemetery Friday afternoon with Rev. COWAN officiating. Leslie N Etter was born March 6, 1893 in Jack County, Texas. He passed from this life in Phoenix, Arizona, September 18 1949 at the age of 56 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Jossie Fitzpatrick. To this union was born 7 children; Eva Urshey of Tulsa; Eva (Iva) Greaney of Weatherford; John Etter of Marlow; Marie DOBBINS of Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Merill Leadbetter of Wichita Falls, Texas, and 8 grandchildren survive his passing.
Two brothers, W. E. Etter of Fletcher; Edd Etter of Ft. Worth, Texas; 2 sisters, Mrs. Alice Barnes of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Callie MOBLEY of Phoenix, Arizona also survives his passing. Mr. Etter was a former resident of Rush Springs.


 

 

Yvonne Marie Elkington

Yvonne Marie Elkington 63, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in Rush Springs.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Quiinton Newton officiating. Burial was held in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Calllaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel.
Born June 1, 1934, to William and Marion (Rogerts) Kerr in New York, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Elkington lived in the Rush Springs area for 13 years, and was a former private investigator and a paralegal in California.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a daughter Rose Marie.
Survivors include a son Herb McIntyre of Helena; five daughters Rebecca Weaver, Schanta McIntyre, Chaine McIntyre and Anita Trusty all of Rush Springs and Debbie Peace of Marlow; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step-daughter Debra Woolard of Yale, IL.
Serving as pallbearers were Daniel Peace, Rich Weaver, James Hammons, Brennen Kiser, Randy Johnson; and Dale Jones.

 

 

E. J. Elliott

Funeral for E. J. Elliott, son of Joseph and Kate Elliott, died July 12, 1972. He was born in Pilot Point, Texas, January 3, 1883. Memorial service in the First Baptist Church, Alex, Oklahoma, Friday, 2:00 p.m., July 14, 1972. Officiating clergy: Reverend J. C. Venable and Reverend Charles Hall.
Final resting place, Rush Springs Cemetery, Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
Conducted by Sevier Funeral Home, Jodie and Larry Sevier, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

 

 

Ida Lee Estes

Rush Springs - IDA LEE ESTES, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 1989, in a Marlow nursing home.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs with the Rev. Walter Knox officiating and the Rev. Elmer Whitehead assisting. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Mrs. Estes was born Aug. 15, 1896, in Minco, Indian Territory. She was a retired school teacher who had taught in Rush Springs schools 38 years. She was a graduate of Central State University and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs. She had lived in Rush Springs most of her life.
In 1917, she married Perry Estes in Rush Springs. He died in 1964.
Survivors include two sons, Perry Estes Jr. of Lawton, and Tom Estes of Dallas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Bill Dryden, Don Mileur, B. J. Crittendon, Dale Jones, Joe Tunnel and Ed Walters. 
 

 

M. H. Evans

Last rites for M. H. Evans, 78, who had lived near Rush Springs for many years, were held Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Brown Funeral home in Chickasha with Rev. Roy Rowlan officiating. Interment was in the Rush Springs cemetery.
Mr. Evans died Monday morning at his home east of town. He had lived in Oklahoma since 1913.
Mrs. Jim Taylor sang 'Sunrise Tomorrow' and 'God Will Take Care of You.'
Miss Ethelyn Anbderson was at the organ.
Pall bearers were Joe Mosley, Howard Dryden, Willie Dryden, Alva Tims, Dan Harrison and Rossler Henton.
Survivors are: His wife, Dollie Evans; four sons, W. E. Evans, of Rush Springs; R. D. Evans, Oklahoma City; Milton, Rush Springs; and J. J. Evans, Vinita; three daughters, Mrs. Harry McDonald, Chickasha; Mrs. R. C. Barker, Marlow; and Mrs. L. H. Sumrow, Kingsville Texas; and two brothers, Tom Evans, Dallas, Texas and Will Evans, Mineral Wells, Texas."


 

Lula Eastel Ferguson

Lula Eastel FERGUSON, 96, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1993, in Duncan Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Monday, Dec. 6, in the First Assembly of God Church of Rush Springs with the Rev. Lynn Plant officiating. Music was presented by Sue MARTIN.
Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ferguson was born Dec. 28, 1896, in Wise Co., Texas, the daughter of Lee READ and Texanna (CAMPBELL) READ.

 

Laura N. Ferguson

RUSH SPRINGS - Funeral for Laura N. "Dean" Ferguson, 64, Rush Springs, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Lynn Parkhurst and Gene Townsend officiating.
Mrs. Ferguson died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Ardmore. Burial will be at Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
She was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Ninnekah, to Frank Crow and Beatrice Willloughby Crow. She lived in Rush Springs all of her life. She married Fred Ferguson on Jan. 25, 1957, in Anadarko. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Tommy and Staci Ferguson, and Tony and Carla Ferguson; two daughters and a son-in-law: Lisa Ann Ferguson; and Laura Nunley and Stacy; six brothers: Everet Crow, Gene Crow, Don Crow, Roy Crow, Odis Crow and Dave Crow; two sisters: Tinie Nickolau and Cindy Coxsey; 11 grandchildren; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

 

Margaret Louise Fears

MARGARET LOUISE "BETTYE" FEARS, 77, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly Rush Springs, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 in Mesa, Ariz.
Services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 7, 2006, at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Bettye was born Saturday, December 1, 1928 in Tererro, New Mexico, to the late Ralph Riley and the late Harriett Matell (Raymond) Littrell.
Bettye married Wilson "Punch" Prowell on Jan. 7, 1945 and was divorced in 1949 in Carlsbad New Mexico. From this marriage was born two children, a son, Ralph Wilson Prowell of Mesa, Ariz., and a daughter, Ruby Winifred Muth of Lubbock, Texas.
Bettye later married Delma A. Fears on July 9, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1990.
Bettye's life was helping and doing for others, crocheting, painting and just loving people. Her greatest love was the members of the Southern Baptist Church, who were like her family in Rush Springs.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Wilson Prowell of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Ruby Winifred Muth of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph E. Littrell of Salt Lake City, Utah, Donald Littrell of Portland, Ore., and John Littrell of Las Vegas, Nev; a sister, Eleanor Atchison of Springfield, Ore.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Clinton Odell Flowers

Clinton Odell Flowers, 86, of Shawnee, Okla and former longtime Seminole resident, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 in Mont Belvieu, Texas. Mr. Flowers was born September 29, 1922 in Atoka County, Oklahoma to General Andrew Jackson and Alice (Hayden) Flowers. Mr. Flowers came to Seminole from Choctaw, Oklahoma and had lived in Seminole over 42 years. most of which time he was a Lineman for O G & E Electric Co. but was retired at the time of his death. Clinton married his first wife and Mother of his children Mary Ruth (Maguire) Flowers in Lawton, Oklahoma on October 7, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1999. He married Dorothy Carter on April 27, 2002 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ruth Flowers, son, Richard Flowers and grandson Harrison Hope. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 12:30 P.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Seminole and Burial following at the Rush Springs Cemetery in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. with Father Basil Keenan, O.S.B. officiating.

 

 

Billy Mac Foreman

Billy Mac Foreman, 76, died Thursday, August 28, 2003, at his home in Marlow.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30 in the Callaway-Smith Cobb-Chapel in Rush Springs with the Rev. Lonnie Laroyce Brown officiating.
Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Foreman was born October 26, 1926 and Marlow the son of N. S. Foreman and Willie Clate [Harris] Foreman.
He and Dorothy Jean Barker Foreman were married July 10, 1999 in Leveland Texas. He had lived in the Marlow and Rush brings area his whole life. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Marlow VFW Post #4888. He was self employed as a rancher and farmer. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Marlow.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Jean Foreman of the home; and five sons, Clayton Foreman of Marlow, J. Foreman of Norman, Allen Haney of Leveland, Texas, Linn Haney of Lubbock, Texas and Mark Haney of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Gerald Farmer, Ray Fine, Dwight Frick, Kenneth McAdoo, Morris McKay, Philip Myers and Jim Shipman.

Services were Wednesday for Add M. Foster, 81

Funeral services for Add M. Foster 81 were held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs with Clif Werhan, in Cyril, officiating.

Foster was born March 3, 1906 in Gainesville, Texas and died Sunday, Jan 10th in a Ft. Worth Hospital.

He was married Dec 31, 1927 in Duncan to Eunice Dorothy Parish. She preceded him in death on June 24, 1983. He had lived in Ft. Worth since 1983 and prior to that lived in Rush Springs from 1967 to that time. He was a retired supervisor at White Sands Missile range in New Mexico. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ft. Worth.

Survivors include three sons, Arthur M of Alamogordo N.M., Joe M. of Vienna, VA, and W. Kent of Stevens Point, Wis., one daughter, Jerry L. Hoffman, Albuquerque NM; two brothers, Loyd Foster of Rush Springs and Hubert O. Foster of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Pall bearers were H.O Foster Jr., Jimm Foster, James C. Heilman, Billy Foster, Mark Jones and Lyndell Kirklev.
 

 

Billy E. Foster

Services for Billy E. Foster, 77, of Chickasha, Okla. will be held at Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha, Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. Jim Sheerer and Steve Parker will officiate. Burial will follow at Rush Springs Cemetery.
Billy E. Foster was born Wednesday, April 18, 1928 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to the late Lloyd Clayton Foster and the late Winnefred Neva (Brown) Foster. He died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Billy married Alma (Agee) Foster on November 22, 1947 in Rush Springs, Okla.
Billy attended elementary school at Little Rush and graduated from Fairview High School in 1946. He lived in the Rush Springs and Chickasha area most of his life. He was a machinist for Badgett Machine Shop for 43 years. Billy loved all kinds of ball games such as football, basketball and baseball. He also loved to fish, especially with his grandchildren.
Billy enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. He was a member of the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha.
Survivors include wife, Alma Foster of Chickasha; daughter, Neva Faye Moretz and husband Jim of Indiahoma, Okla.; son, Billy Don Foster and wife Camellia of Duncan, Okla.; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Weldon Foster and wife Fern of Chickasha; sister, Winnefred Hastings and husband Glenn of Lawton; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, L.C. Foster, Thomas Oliver Foster and Wayne Foster; and one sister, Foylee Wiles.
Pallbearers are Billy Don Foster, James Moretz, Jerry Hair, Darvin Foster, Ron Hastings, Rick Hastings. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Winstone, Vernon McElhancy, Ronald Davidson and Billy Patton.
 

 

Stanley Ray Kennell

 

Funeral services for Stanley Ray Kennell, 54 of Norman, Oklahoma, will be held at 10 am, Wednesday; November 5, 2008 in the Chapel of the Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Stanley Kennell was born October 27, 1954 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Raymond and Opal (Musick) Kennell and died Friday, October 31, 2008 in Norman, Oklahoma. Stanley lived most of his life the Chickasha and Cement areas and has lived in Norman, Oklahoma the past 3 years. He was employed at Schwarz Concrete as a Truck Driver.

His favorite past times were Camping and Fishing. He and Denise Akins were married on July 4, 1995 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Salvation Army.

He is preceded in death by his Father and One Grandson; John Akins. Surviving family include: His wife Denise Kennell of the home in Norman, Oklahoma; 2 Sons: Jamie and wife Kristi Kennell of Alaska and Bobby Akins of Norman, Oklahoma; 3 Daughters: Amy and husband Joshua Wright of Cement, Oklahoma; Jennifer Pierce of Norman, Oklahoma and Angela and husband Kenneth Farley of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Mother: Opal Kennell of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 1 Brother: Dennis and wife Nona Kennell of Cement, Oklahoma 2 Sisters: Charlotte Jones of Norman, Oklahoma and Margaret Kennell of Raliegh, North Carolina; 7 Grand Children and several Nieces and Nephews

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma under the Direction of the Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Raymond Lloyd Kennell

 

Funeral service for Raymond Lloyd Kennell, 78, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, September 6, 2008 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

On Thursday, September 4th, Raymond Lloyd Kennell was ‘Promoted to Glory' and entered into rest in Jesus' arms. He was born in Naples, Oklahoma, June 12, 1930 to William David and Rosie Mae (Hurst) Kennell, both preceding him in death.

Raymond was a truck driver but more importantly, he loved serving the Lord Jesus Christ as a soldier and member of The Salvation Army Church of Chickasha.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Opal; two daughters, Charlotte Jones of Norman and Margaret Kennell of Raleigh, NC; two sons, Dennis and wife, Nona of Chickasha and Stanley and wife, Denise of Norman; one sister Edith (Ernest) Childers of Chickasha; and two sisters-in-law, Josie (Cecil) Kennell and Jennie (Walter) Kennell; 6 grandchildren: Michael Jarvis, Kateera Jones, Jamie Kennell, Amy Wright, Denise Chadrick, and Dustin Kennell; five step grandchildren: Kevin Russell, Kendra Canady, Ann Farley, Jennifer Pierce, and Bob Atkins; eight great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

Rev. Lawrence Neal Kennedy

 

Funeral services for L. Neal Kennedy, 97, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha. Neal Kennedy was born February 22, 1911, in Mineral Springs, Arkansas, the son of Thomas Alvis and Mary Young Kennedy. He died peacefully December 5, 2008 in Duncan.

Neal came to Pocasset as a young man. He attended and graduated from Pocasset public schools and later served many years on the Pocasset School Board. Neal was an active 64 year veteran of the Pocasset Masonic Lodge.

Neal Kennedy married Murlene Davidson on February 18, 1934. They had four sons and enjoyed 71 wonderful years of marriage. After they were married, Neal purchased land and began his career as a farmer and dairyman, south of Chickasha. In 1939 they moved to Pocasset. Following several years as a successful wheat farmer, he purchased the Kaiser-Frazier dealership in Chickasha. After a few years in that business, he concentrated on his wheat farming and dairy business again. For years, he did custom harvesting, stretching from Texas to Canada every summer.

Neal was also known for his farm pond construction business. Northern Grady County is still dotted with farm ponds Neal built. At mid life, Neal was called to the ministry. He left farming, and prior to pursuing his ministerial studies, purchased the Telephone Exchange of Bradley, Oklahoma, where he also served his first church at the Bradley United Methodist Church.

In 1960, he moved to Winfield, Kansas where he completed four years of ministerial studies at Southwestern College, preparing for his full time ministry as an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. After retiring from his career as a minister, Neal and Murlene moved to Chickasha where he revived the Frisco Avenue United Methodist Church.

Neal accumulated several rental houses during his retirement. He also enjoyed helping Murlene with her Shaklee business. Both Neal and Murlene stayed very involved with Epworth United Methodist Church and its activities.

Neal was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, Alvis Kennedy, Leroy Kennedy, Charles Kennedy and Thomas Jr. Kennedy, three sisters, Katy Roubinek, Florence Montgomery and Junita VanSickle.

Neal is survived by one sister, Chloie McFall, of Bellaire, TX and one brother Bob Kennedy of Tahlequah, OK. Also surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law: Lawrence and Helen Kennedy, of San Angelo, Texas, Carl and Janis Kennedy, of Seneca, South Carolina, Dean and Ilona Kennedy, of Friend, Oklahoma, and Charles and Vivian Kennedy, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
 

 


 

 

Margie Marie Keef

 

Funeral services have been set for Thurs. June, 26 2008 for Margie Scott Keef. They will be held at the Grand Assembly of God Church located at 102 West Almar Drive in Chickasha, Oklahoma at 10:30 a.m. A dinner will be served at the Amber Mission Church in Amber, Oklahoma. Internment will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery, located on HWY 81, north of Chickasha.

 


 

 

Bettie Lou James

 

Funeral service for Bettie Lou James, age 62, of Chickasha will be held at 2 pm on Monday, September 29, 2008, at the Full Gospel Church. Rev. Edward Whitley will officiate and Rev. Alice Wendling will assist.

Bettie Lou James was born the daughter of Carl C. Johnston and Ollie Mae Weaver on June 19, 1946, in Coalgate, Oklahoma. She died on September 26, 2008, in Oklahoma City.

Bettie lived in Lindsay, Oklahoma, as a small child. She later moved to Verden where she lived for many years. Bettie then moved to Chickasha, where she married Patrick James on June 22, 1979. Most of her life, Bettie worked in the nursing field in Chickasha. Bettie was a member of the Full Gospel Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Dewayne Parham. She is survived by her husband: Patrick James of the home; daughter and husband: Anita and Terry Rumley of Cement; son and wife: Roger and Dianna Parham of Chickasha; sister and husband: Margaret and Don Cooper of Seminole, Oklahoma; brother: Dean Johnston of Tucson, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Larry Morrison.
