Eunice D. Foster

Funeral Services were held on Monday for Eunice D. Foster
Funeral services for Eunice D. Foster were held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs.
Clif Werhan, former minister of the church, officiated.
Mrs. Foster was born December 7, 1905 in Corsicana, Texas and died Friday, June 24th at the Grady Memorial Hospital
in Chickasha.
She was married to Add Foster in Duncan on Dec 31, 1927 and had bee a resident of Rush Springs for 72 years. She
was a homemaker and at one time worked in the civil service in the Alamogordo, NM Air Force Base. She was a member
of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include here husband, Add, of the home; three sons, Arthur of Alamogordo, Joe of Vienna, VA, and Kent
of Plover, Wis., one daughter, Jerry Hoffman, Albuquerque NM; one sister, Lady Murray, Rush Springs; One brother,
James Parish, Houston, TX; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Fannie Foster

Funeral services for FANNIE FOSTER, 73, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Church of Christ. Services
were conducted by Brother E. T. Russell of Chickasha and Floyd Spivey of Fort Worth, Texas.
Pallbearers were six of her grandsons: Perry Heilman, Carrol Heilman, L. C. Foster, Tommy Foster and Weldon Foster.
Honorary pallbearers were: L. V. Morris, E. F. Dawkins, W. L. Barker, Bill Harris, R. S. Atchison and C. E. Bernard.
Interment was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under direction of the Callaway Mullican Funeral Home.
Fannie Elizabeth McNatt was born December 24, 1873 at Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of James Add and Nancy McNatt.
She departed this life January 14, 1947 at her home in Rush Springs at the age of 73 years and 21 days.
She was united in marriage to Oliver Perry Foster, February 1895 in Indian Territory, now known as Thackerville,
Oklahoma. Her husband preceded her
in death. To this union were born 5 sons and 3 daughters, of which 7 are now living, one son having died in infancy.
She obeyed the Gospel at an early age and lived a Christian life for more than 50 years, devoting her time to her
family and friends surrounding her.
Sister Foster leaves to mourn her passing, the three daughters; Mrs. W. M. Heilman of Rush Springs, Mrs. L. L.
Johnson of Kingfisher and Mrs. James Harold Lee of Kearney, Nebraska, and four sons, Loyd C. and Verd W. of Rush
Springs, Add M. of Los Angles, California, and Hubert O. of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, W. E. McNatt of Rush
Springs, two sisters, Mrs. Iva Harmon, Cushing, and Effie Salners of Chicago, Illinois. She had 7 granddaughters,
19 grandsons, and other relatives and a host of friends.

Lantz Darrin Foster

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Don Foster, 617 North H Street, Duncan, died today in the University Hospital,
Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 2 in Duncan and his parents named him Lantz Darrin.
He is survived by his parents and one sister, Billie Dawn, of Duncan; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy E. Foster,
100 Basin Street, Chickasha, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Arnold, Sr., 1424 Minnesota, Chickasha.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Calloway-Smith Funeral Home, Rush Springs.

Oliver Perry Foster
Gun Discharge Kills O .P. Foster
Accident Occurs at 7:30 Sunday Morning at family home four miles north.
Funeral services for Oliver Perry Foster, who was killed Sunday morning at 7:30 when his shotgun was accidentally
discharged, were held at the Church of Christ Monday afternoon at 3 O'clock, Rev. Robert Alexander having charge.
Interment was made in the Rush Springs cemetery. Practically all Rush Springs business houses were closed during
the funeral.
The entire Rush Springs community was shocked early Sunday morning when the word was passed that Mr. Foster, an
old and highly respected citizen of this community had been instantly killed when his shot gun was accidentally
discharged as he passed though the front door, four miles north of Rush Springs, the entire load entering his head.
Members of the family believe that he had started to shoot at a flock of crows that have destroying the crops in
that vicinity. Hearing the shot, members of the family rushed to the scene, but Mr. Foster was killed instantly.
Oliver Perry Foster was born at Somerset, Kentucky, in 1872 and departed this life at home four miles north of
Rush Springs, Sunday November 10, 1929, age 57 years, 10 months and 27 days.
Mr. Foster left Kentucky in 1891, going to Marletta; went from there to Gainesville, Texas, in 1900; coming to
Rush Springs in 1923 and spending the remainder of his life here.
He is survived by Mrs. Foster, 4 sons, Lloyd, Verd, Add and Hubert; all residing here; three daughters, Mrs. Vera
Heilman, Norene and Laura; three brothers, Joe C. of Asheville, N.C.; A. W. of Gainesville, Texas and F. D. of
Sentinel; four sisters, Mrs. B. M. Foster of Forrestburg, Texas; Mrs. John Foster of Raymondsville, Texas; Mrs.
Sarah Markum of Meridian, Miss.; Mrs. Flora Sweaney of Arizona and ten grand children.
The deceased had for 42 years been a song leader in the Church of Christ, and his passing is sincerely mourned
by the entire community.

Timothy Dale Foster
TIMOTHY DALE FOSTER, 22, Rush Springs, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2006 in
Chickasha, Okla.
Services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs,
with David Hale officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb
Chapel in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
Tim was born Sunday, October 16, 1983 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Tommy Foster and Mary (Loyd) Foster. He graduated
from Emerson High School in Oklahoma City. He lived in Rush Springs all of his life. He worked as a derrick hand
for Gray Wolf. He enjoyed life and loved clowning around. Tim loved people and had a big heart for everyone. He
also enjoyed farming. Tim was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs.
His survivors include his fiancee, Veronica Irwin of Cement, Okla.; parents, Tommy and Mary Foster of Rush Springs;
three brothers, Tommy Foster III of Tuttle, Okla., Chris Foster of Oklahoma City, and Chris Gibson of Chickasha;
a sister, Tiffany Foster of Lawton, Okla.; grandmother, Ruby Loyd of Rush Springs; four nephews, Colton Gibson,
John Moffitt, Jacob Foster, and Caleb Foster; a niece, Sara Foster; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty and Tom Foster, and Les Loyd, and an uncle, John Foster.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Gifford, David Jackson, Lynn Frick, Chance St. John, Jody Patterson and Glenn Crawford.

Verd Foster
Funeral Services were Saturday for Verd Foster
Funeral services for Verd William Foster were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs
with Clif Werhan minister of the church officiated.
Foster 71, died Thursday Nov 28 at 4:30 a.m. at home in Rush Springs of a heart attack. He was born Jan 6 1903
in Gainesville, Texas, and had lived here since 1923. He was married in Chickasha on March 18, 1927 to Callie Lee
Parish. He was a deacon in the Church of Christ.
Foster retired in 1967 after working 23 years for Grady County Commissioner District 3. He served with the Rush
Springs fire department for 21 years.
Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were J. R. Cast, Allan Winham, Elton Teel, Bob Shaw, Spencer Bernard, and Herschel Wilburn.
Survivors include his wife Callie of the home address, a foster daughter Mrs. Jean Bowles of Ft worth TX; 3 foster
grandchildren also of Ft. Worth; 3 brothers, Loyd and Add of Rush Springs and Hubert of Fort Worth; and two sisters
Mrs. Veil Heilman and Mrs. Norene Johnson, both of Rush Springs.

Marilyn Freeman
Funeral services for Marilyn "Micki" Freeman, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m.,
Tuesday, July 16, 2002, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
Marlyn Freeman was born November 20, 1946, the daughter of Raymond Bentley and Bonnie Markham Bentley. She died
July 12, 2002, in Oklahoma City.
Marilyn graduated from Rush Springs High School. She was later employed by Delta Faucet in Chickasha, where she
worded for 22 years.
Marilyn married Arnold Freeman in 1984. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church.
Marilyn was preceded in death by both parents and one grandson, Steven Paul Goff.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold, of the home; daughters Chris Skidmore, of Tuttle, and Kellie Fitzgerald,
of Weatherford; stepdaughters and sons-in-law Rhonda and Jimmy Gray, of Cyril, Trina Kyllo, of Portland, OR, and
Loretta and Henry Boyd, of Chickasha; grandchildren Andrew and Ethan Skidmore, of Tuttle; Breanna and Preston Fitzgerald,
of Weatherford; Michael and Crystal Bogle, of Germany; Mitchell Bogle, of Chickasha; Marshal and Blake Gabriel,
of Chickasha; Nathan, Brian and Tianne Taylor, of Oregon; and Jobin and Jeron Dionne, of Oregon; and great grandchildren
Kaleb Bogle, of Cyril, and Logan Bogle, of Germany; aunts Clorine Horn, of Chickasha, and Georgia Becker, of Duncanville,
TX; and uncle Henry Smith, of Panhandle, TX.
Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Goldie Mae French
Funeral services for Goldie Mae French, 80, of Rush Springs, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday,
March 22, 2001, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, Rush Springs. Rev. Alvin McConnell will officiate.
Goldie Mae French was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Bailey, and died on Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Chickasha.
Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel.

Ruby Pearl Gauger
Funeral services for Ruby Pearl Gauger, 94, of Rush Springs, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. on
Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, Rush Springs.
Ruby Pearl Gauger was born Dec. 26, 1906, in Caddo County, Okla., and died on Monday, July 30, 2001, in Chickasha,
Okla.

Oleta Gilpin
Funeral services for Oleta Gilpin, 81, of Rush Springs, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday,
June 27, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church.
Oleta Gilpin was born July 13, 1919, in Wapanucka, Okla., and died on Sunday, June 24, 2001, in Chickasha.

Annie J. Graham
RUSH SPRINGS - Annie J. Graham, 89, of Marlow died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, in West Wind Assisted
Living Center in Marlow.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ in Rush Springs with Cliff Werhan officiating. Burial
will be in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Rush Springs.
Annie J. was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Frederick to Jud and Beatrice Bentley Shotts. She married Edgie Graham on Feb.
11, 1933, in Rush Springs. He preceded her in death in December 1988.
She was a homemaker and lived in Rush Springs and Marlow areas since she was 1 year old. She loved to sew and enjoyed
yard work and growing flowers.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Pat Graham of Gorman, Texas, and Sterling and Joy
Graham of Friona, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose Ann and Bobby Shaw of Rush Springs; a brother-in-law,
W. D. Graham; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and two sisters.

Leona Mae Graves

LEONA MAE GRAVES, 92, passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in Rush Springs.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 21, at the Rush Springs Church of Christ, with Clif Werhan officiating.
Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 3, 1912, to Archiebald and Avor Stillwell Heilman, in Oklahoma City, she was a housewife who enjoyed
sewing, embroidering and quilting.
On August 10, 1929, she married Bernice W. Ridley; he preceded her in death in 1959. On June 6, 1966, she married
Robert F. Graves in Rush Springs; he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathleen Dunegan; five brothers, Willie, Dan, Fred, Arthur,
and Norman Heilman; and a step-son, Herschel Graves.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Ridley of Fletcher, and Jean Gilpin of Rush Springs; a step-son and daughter-in-law,
Robert and Myra Graves of Rush Springs; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-
great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Other survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Archie and Loretta Heilman of Marlow; a sister, Dawn Renfro
of Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Ridley, Claude Ridley, Joe Gilpin, Alan Gilpin, Cary Gilpin, and Phillip Pettijohn.

Jeffrey Green
Jeffrey Green died at the age of 42, a resident of Moore, Oklahoma. He was the son of Gladis
(McMillan) Green and Harvey G. Green. He graduated from Rush Springs High School, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, in
1985. He also lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Norman, Oklahoma, settling in Moore, Oklahoma, 5 years ago. He
was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He enjoyed attending concerts and going Coon
hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Green. He is survived by: His Mother and Step-Father, Gladis
Meek and Donald Meek, of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, two brothers, Randy Green of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Kenneth Green,
of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Brunetta Bernard Griffith

BRUNETTA BERNARD GRIFFITH, 86, of Duncan, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, in Duncan.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs with Cliff Werhan officiating.
Burial will be in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Brunetta was born Sunday, March 9, 1919 in Rush Springs to C. E. and Gertrude Sperling Bernard. She graduated from
Rush Springs High School. She studied art for six years under Professor Derald Swineford of Oklahoma College of
Liberal Arts.
Brunetta married Joe Griffith on June 4, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She lived in Florida for 15 years before
settling in Rush Springs.
She began painting in oils in the early 1970s. Her artwork received many awards and hangs in the Chisholm Trail
Heritage Center, the Choctaw Nation Headquarters in Durant, the Veterans Hospital in Lawton, and numerous other
places. Her series of the Leaders of the Five Civilized Tribes was purchased for display in Washington, D.C. Brunetta
painted several historical murals, including one depicting early Rush Springs which is hanging in the Rush Springs
Library.
Brunetta was very proud of her Choctaw heritage and keenly interested in Oklahoma history. She did extensive research
for each one of her historical and Indian paintings.
Brunetta was a longtime board member of the Oklahoma Historical Society where she was selected as outstanding artist.
She was also a member of the D.A.R. and Rush Springs Church of Christ. In addition to her love for painting, history
and genealogy, she experienced great joy in being co-owner with her husband of The Book Store in Ward Mall.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; a daughter, Melanie Twelves and husband Ron of Duncan; two sons,
Joseph Bernard and wife Karolyn of Poquoson, Va., and John Paul of Norman; four grandchildren, Charles K. Twelves
of Oklahoma City, William D. Twelves of Binghampton, N.Y., Eric Harman of Virginia and Ellen Jones of South Carolina;
four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tobin, Lucas and Maci; three sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Cicero, Virgil and Spencer Bernard.
Bearers will be Dale Jones, Johnny Humphrey, Don Mileur, Charles Twelves and David Hale.
Chisholm Trail Heritage Center welcomes the public to a special showing of Brunetta Bernard Griffith's work on
Saturday.

Harell R. Grissam
Funeral services for Harell R Grissam, age 79 of Norge, will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the
Brown-Binyon Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Edward Whitley of Cyril will officiate, and Sister Delois Aldridge of Apache
will assist.
Harell R Grissam was born at Burns Flat, OK on November 24, 1913, the son of Joseph Grissam and Dollie Capps Grissam.
He died Friday, July 23 1993, at his home in Norge.
Mr Grissam lived most of his life in Grady County. He married Hazel Morris on December 18, 1937, at Rush Springs,
OK. The Grissams were married fifty-five years and seven months.
The Grissmas lived in Ninnekah before moving to Norge in 1970. Since age 12, he was a farmer and mechanic.
Mr Grissam was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and a daughter, Katherine Martin,
who died on February 25, 1974.
Survivors include his wife Hazel of the home; six sons and two daughters, Dollie Grissam of Ch ickasha, Glen of
Norge, Joe of Tuttle, Marilyn Crossen of Norge, Robert of Teague, TX, Larry of Anadarko, Gary of Norge, Darell
of Mexia, TX; six daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; four sisters, Elizabeth Lee of Hillsboro OR, Ellen Thompson
of Knoxville TN, Joanne Punneo of Duncan, Cora Belle Williams of Idabel OK; five brothers, Enos Grissam of Del
City, William Grissam of CA, John Grissam of Bowie TX, George Thomas of Idabel, and Charlie Thomas of Duncan; twenty-six
grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under directions of the Brown-Binyon Funeral Home of Chickasha.

Rush Springs - DOROTHY GERALDINE HALE, 83, of Rush Springs, Okla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, in Rush
Springs.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Vimy Ridge Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with David Hale and Don Chaffin

Funeral home obituary:
Geraldine was born Friday, Aug. 22, 1924, in Rush Springs, to David Att Tims and Willie Pinkney Brewer Tims. She
was a lifetime resident of Rush Springs. Geraldine graduated from Rush Springs High School at the age of 16. She
married Olie Junior Hale on Dec. 21, 1943, in Rush Springs. She taught herself to play piano through a correspondence
course. She was church pianist/organist for over 64 years and was requested to play for countless weddings, special
events and funerals. She worked for the Soil Conservation Service and Watershed Research in Rush Springs and Chickasha
for 35 years. She loved taking short trips in search of antiques, and working crossword puzzles. She was a dedicated
member of Vimy Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Olie Junior Hale of the home; a son, David Hale and wife JoAnn of Rush Springs;
a daughter, Charlotte Jacoby and husband Joe of Rush Springs; two granddaughters; five step-grand-daughters; seven
great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and three great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mammy and Pappy Tims; a brother, Datchie Tims; and a sister, Opal Willie
Tims.
Pallbearers will be Joe Tunnell, Kenneth McAdoo, Morris McAdoo, Conn Goodwin, Billy Evans and Eddie Rathbun.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Williams, Duane Gibbs, Marvin Loeffler, Jim Chaffin, Leon Howell and Leon Fletcher.

Peggy Mullican Hale
Services for Peggy Mullican Hale, who passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2003, will be at 2:00
p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2003, at the First Assembly of God Church in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. Officiating
will be David Hale.
Peggy was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on February 16, 1931, to Lewis Allen Mullican and Esther (Pascall) Mullican.
Peggy's mother died when she was 3 years old and she was raised by a dearly loved stepmother, Alma Lee Mullican.
She graduated from Rush Springs High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women (USAO). She was a long time
employee of the Town of Rush Springs, where she had served as City Clerk, Fiscal Administrator and Municipal Court
Clerk. She retired in February 2001.
Peggy enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and playing bridge, until her eyesight became so bad she could
no longer do these hobbies, but her greatest joy in life came from her 4 grandchildren and great grandson, little
Jace Allen Jones. She especially loved watching them as they participated in various sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters: Rhonda Wooten of Marlow and Jane Green of Midwest City.
Ms. Hale is survived by a daughter: Vicki Jones; son and daughter-in-law: Brian and Diedre Hale; 4 grandchildren:
Jo Allen Jones, Courtney Hale, Ashlee Jones and Aubrey Lewis Hale; and great grandson Jace Allen Jones, all of
Rush Springs. Also, 3 nieces; 2 nephews and a great nephew.
Bearers will be grandsons: Aubrey Hale and Joe Allen Jones; also Mike Brown, Rick Adamson, Joe Tunnell and Mike
Wooten.
Honorary bearers will be Don Hall, Corky Williamson, Jim Chaffin and Bill English.

Thomas C. Hanson

Lt. Thomas C. Hanson Killed in Korea Jet Crash
Plane Crashes on take off June 6
1st Lt. Thomas C. Hanson was killed in the crash of his airplane June 6 on the Korean battle front. He is the son
of Mrs. Mary Tackett, Norman and a nephew of Mrs. Verd Foster and Mrs. Raymond Murray.
Word of his death was not received by his mother until Wednesday June 20 when she received letters from two of
his superior officers. Cause of Hanson's crash was listed as a power failure on take off. The plane was never able
to leave the field and crashed into an embankment at the end of the runway where it burst into flames.
Lt. Hanson graduated from the Rush Springs high school in 1941 after which he immediately joined the United States
Navy serving in throughout World War II. After being discharged from the Navy, he enlisted as a cadet in the Air
Force, receiving his wings and was assigned to jet fighter squadron.
Hanson was ordered to Korea in November and just before leaving flew over Rush Springs a number of times in his
jet fighter. He was engaged and planning to be married immediately on his return from the battle front.

Funeral services for Mary Etta Porter, 68, were held Tuesday, August 10th at 10 a.m. from the Church of Christ
in Rush Springs with Eulys Russell of Chickasha officiating.
Mrs. Porter was born Nov 1, 1902 in Freestone County, Texas and died Sunday, Aug. 8, at 7:20 am in Grady Memorial
Hospital, Chickasha, following a two and half year illness. She had been a resident of Rush Springs most of her
life. She was married to Robert L. Porter in April of 1931 and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the
Church of Christ.
Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway-Smith Funeral Home.
Bearers were Pat Dowling, Wes Huffine, Herb Haston, R. O. Gibbs, Allan Winham and Spencer Bernard.
Survivors include one son E. M. Hanson of Oklahoma City; 2 granddaughters; Linda Hanson and Mary Sue Bond; 2 grandsons,
Mike Hanson and Tommy Bond both in the armed services; three sisters Mrs. Cally Foster, Mrs. Eunice Foster and
Mrs. Lady Murray of Rush Springs; four brothers B. Arthur Parish, and Finley Parish, both of Rush Springs, Rufus
Parish of Carnegie and J. Harmon Parish of California; 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Virginia Griffith of California and
Anna Sue Waltman of Nebraska.
