PATRICIA EARLINE ORAZEM, 65, of Duncan, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, in her home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in New Hope Baptist Church West, with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will be in Rush Springs (Okla.) Cemetery under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
She was born Jan. 17, 1942, to Brunell Herbert Smith and Linda Earline Brooks Smith. She married Larry W. Orazem on Dec. 20, 1975, in Pueblo, Colo.
She was employed by Halliburton Services for 16 years as a rolling equipment coordinator, retiring in 1994.
Patricia was an avid music lover, especially the piano. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, the outdoors, trout fishing and the Rocky Mountains. She also loved to collect angels.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of the home; her mother, Linda Smith of Marlow; her father, Brunell Smith of Duncan; a daughter, Sherry Earline Seeger of Warner Robins, Ga.; a son, Johnny Herbert Venette and wife Catherine of Arvada, Colo.; four grandchildren, Danielle Allena Seeger, Jennifer Rene Seeger, Christopher Garet and Sherry Carter; and three great-grandchildren, Destiny, Corbin and Serenity Carter.
Bearers will be Ray Riley, Darwin Allen, Al Krensch, Maurice Miller and Elmer Reeder.
Honorary bearer is Ted Elam.

Funeral Services for Arthur Parish were held here Monday

Funeral services for Benjamin Arthur Parish, 76, were held Monday Sept 27 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Callaway-smith Funeral home in Rush Springs. Cliff Werhan, minister of Rush Springs Church of Christ, officiated.

Parish was born Nov 10, 1894 in Dew, Texas and died at 12:30 p.m. Sept 25th in the Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha. He moved to Rush Springs in 1906, living here for 20 years and then moved to Carson City, Nev. He moved back here about two years ago. He was a retired electrician and a veteran of World War I

Pallbearers were Elton Teel, Warren Morris, Glen Jones, Karl Scruggs, Rufus Dorman and C.C. Jinks.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith Funeral Home.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Breacheen of Norman, and Mrs. Joan Saulsberry of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Foster, Mrs. Verd Foster and Mrs. Raymond Murray all of Rush Springs. Three Brothers, Finley of Rush Springs, Rufus of Carnegie, and J. Harmon of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren.
 

 

Berta Viola Parish

Funeral Services for Berta Viola Parish were held Wednesday afternoon February 5 in the Church of Christ. Services were conducted by Brother C. W. Spencer assisted by Brother E. T. Russell of Chickasha.

Flower girls were Mrs. Henry Urban, Opal Urban; Tye Dorman; Alma Lee Mullican; Helen Lowry; Myrl McWilliams'; Essie Smith; Ruth Miller and Corrine Tunnell.

Honorary pall bearers were C. E. Bernard; John Baker; L.V. Morris O. F. Johnson and Bill Harris.

Active pall bearers were Charlie Howell; Rufus Dorman, Bill Heilman; Y. H. Cherry; R. S. Atchison; and Homer Crittendon

The song, "Good Night and Good Morning' was sung by Mrs. Raymond Gibbs and Mrs. Waldo Wettengel.

The choir was under the direction of H. O. Foster of Forth Worth, TX. Interment was in the Rush Springs cemetery under the direction of Calloway and Mullican.

Berta Viola Jones was born December 19, 1876 at Fairfield, Freestone County, TX and departed this life February 3, 1947 at the age of 70 years 1 month and 14 days.

She was married to T. C. Parish on January 11, 1893. They moved to Rush Springs which was Indian territory 41 years ago in August of 1906.

To this union 10 children were born all of whom are living and all present for the services.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and above all a Christian. She obeyed the gospel in her early life and has lived a beautiful and useful life these many years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband; Thomas Clay Parish, and six sons: Benjamin Arthur of Norman; Carl of Dallas, TX; W. Aubrey of Los Angeles, CA; R. Finley and Rufus of Rush Springs and James H. of Los Angles. Four daughters: Mary Porter; Calle Foster; and Lela Murray all of Rush Springs an Eunice Foster of Los Angles, CA; 24 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 3 sisters; Mattie McAdams of Buffalo, TX, Willie Jordan Howell of Vernon, TX and Bennie Black of Amherst, TX.

 

 

Carl (Jake) Parish

Funeral Services Held for Carl Parish at Dallas

Funeral services for Carl (Jake) Parish were held Monday at 10 a.m. in Dallas, Tex.

Mr. Parish was a former Rush Springs resident and was a brother of Mrs. Mary Porter, Mrs. Cally Foster, Lady Murray and Finley Parish all of Rush Springs. Other brothers and sisters are: Mrs. Eunice Foster, Alomogordo, New Mexico; Rufus Parish, Lindsay; Arthur Parish and J. H. Parish.

Graveside rites were held in the Rush Springs Cemetery Monday afternoon with Eulys Russel of the Chickasha Church of Christ in charge.

Mr. Parish lived in Rush Springs for many years and served as mail carrier and was in business here.
 

 

Gussie Letha Parish

Gussie Letha Parish, 83, of Rush Springs died Thursday, January 20, 2000, in Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. 
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 24 in the Church of Christ in Rush Springs with Clif Werhan officiating. Burial was in
Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parish was born July 11, 1916, in Rush Springs, the daughter of Homer Crittendon and Myrtle (Haynes) Crittendon.

She was married to Robert Finley Parish in Pauls Valley on September 10, 1939. He died August 13, 1980.

She had lived in Rush Springs all her life and was a school teacher in Rush Springs for 32 years. She graduated from Rush Springs High School and received her BA Degree in Education from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Assoctiation and the Rush Springs Church of Christ.

Survivors include one sone, Ronald Parish and his wife Cindy of Rush Springs; one daughter, Leta Avents and her husband Gene of Rush Springs; four grandchildren, Deanna Parish, Lee Parish, Tammy Martin, and her husband Lyndall, and Lisa Foster and her husband Barry; one step-grandson, Kelsey Avants; seven great grandchildren; and one brother Lee Crittendon of Rush Springs.

Pallbearers were Daryn Brantly, Don Hall, Roy Jennings, Robbie Pelley, Paul Loveless, Lyndall Martin, Barry Foster and Kelsey Avants.

 

 

Robert Finley Parish

Services for Finley Parish were Friday

Funeral services for Robert Finley Parish were held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Christ with Clif Werhan, minister of the church, officiated.

Parish, 71, was born July 13, 1909 in Rush Springs and had lived all of his life here. He died Wednesday in the Grady Memorial hospital in Chickasha.

On September 10, 1939, he and Gussie Crittendon were married in Pauls Valley. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Rush Springs Church of Christ.

Burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery under direction of the Calloway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gale McAdoo, Bobbie Shaw, Nathaniel Shotts, Jim Stark, Allan Winham and Don Cunningham.

Survivors include his wife Gussie, of the home; one son, Ronald Parish, Rush Springs, one daughter, Leta Jennings, Marlow; two brothers, Rufus Parish of Rush Springs and Buster Parish of Texas; three sisters, Lady Murray, Callie Foster and Eunice Foster, all of Rush Springs; two grandchildren, Tammy and Lesa Jennings, both of Rush Springs; a daughter in law Cindy Parish and a son in law Roy Jennings, both of Rush Springs.

 

 

Rufus Clay Parish

Funeral services for Rufus Clay Parish were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Church of Christ in Rush Springs, Clif Werhan officiated.

Parish, 71 was born June 20, 1910 in Rush Springs. He died Thursday at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha following a lengthy illness.

Parish lived in Rush Springs until 1946 and later moved to Lindsay. In 1959, he moved to Carnegie and returned to Rush Springs in 1975. He was retired from the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. He married Helen Johnson March 25, 1933 in Rush Springs and was a member of the Church of Christ here.

Survivors include his wife Helen of the home, three daughters, Dorothy McClure of Lindsay, Shirley Boevers of Verden, and Lois Sweet of Chickasha; three sisters, Eunice Foster, Callie Foster, and Lady Murray, all of Rush Springs; a brother, James of Houston, Texas; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Gale McAdoo, Don Cunningham, Don Hall, Bob Shaw, Kenneth Barton, and Donnie Fountain.

"FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SUNDAY FOR T.C. PARISH
Funeral services for T.C. Parish were held at the Rush Springs Church of Christ, Sunday, April 25 with Brother Eulys Russell of Chickasha, conducting. Leroy Cowan, pastor, assisted.
The church choir was under the direction of Bill Heilman. A special duet, 'Good Night Here, Good Morning Up There' was sung by Mrs. R. O. Gibbs and George Denton.
Active pallbearers were: R.S. Atchison, M.E. Givens, L.V. Morris, Loyd Foster, J.L. Dorman, and Rufus Dorman.
Honary pallbearers were: Walter Jones of Chickasha; Bill Harris, O.F. Johnson, Joe Jones, Luther Gilpin and Lucian Gilpin.
Flower girls were: Jene Bowles, Bea Breechen, Dorothy Parish, Shirley Parish, Lois Parish, Elsie Parish, Joe Ann Parish, Katie Urban, Tye Dorman, Vivian Bernard, Billy Jean Cherry and Elsie Smith.
Interment was in the Rush Springs cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Mullican.
Thomas Clay Parish was born in Freestone County, Texas on June 30, 1871, and died April 23, at the age of 76 years.
The couple moved to Rush Springs which was then Indian Territory, in August 1906.
He was married to Berta Viola Jones, January 11, 1894 and to this union 10 children were born, all of whom are now living: Arthur of Norman, Carol of Dallas, Texas; Aubrey of Ingewood, California; Rufus of Lindsay; James of Berkley, California; Mary Tackett of Newalla;
Eunice Foster of Alamogordo, New Mexico; Cally Foster, Finley Parish and Lela Murray, all of Rush Springs.
He was a devoted husband, father and above all, a Christian. He obeyed the Gospel in early life and has spent many years in the service of his Master.
He was laid to rest beside his wife, Berta Viola Parish, who preceded him in death in February of 1947.
Survivors other than his children include one sister, Mrs. Jeanie Jones of Rush Springs; 22 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends."

Funeral services for Willie Aubrey Parish were held Wednesday Jan 6 in the Church of Christ with Claud Parish in Charge.

Parish died after an extended illness in Inglewood California.

Song service was by the congregation with Bill Heilman in charge.

Willie Aubrey Parish was born August 27, 1899 at Pursley, Navarro County, TX. He died Jan 2, 1954 at the age of 54 years 4 months and 25 days.

He came to Rush Springs in 1906 with his parents who preceded him in death.

He was married to Ozie Yancy in 1944 in Norman OK and they have lived in California about nine years.

He leave to mourn his passing wife, Ozie of Ingewood CA. One daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Ann Benjaman and 2 grandchildren of Inglewood CA. 5 brothers; B.A. Parish of Anadarko, OK Carl Parish, Finley, Rufus and James.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, in Rush Springs Cemetery with Leonard Keele officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

 

 

Earl Ray Parnell 

Funeral serivce for Earl Ray Parnell, 55, of Rush Springs, is pending under the direction of the Calloway-Smith Funeral Home, Rush Springs.
Parnell was born May 27, 1920, in Gracemont. He died Thursday in Grady Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.
He moved to Rush Springs from New Mexico in 1964. Parnell was a heavy equipment operator. He married Velma Gaye Horn in California.
Parnell is survived by his wife, Velma, of the home; one son, Claude, of Rush Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Marguaret Joy Penny, Mrs. Velma Gaye Neal, both of Rush Springs, and Mrs. Earlene Gail Morris of Chickasha; three sisters, Mrs. June Ragesdale, Mrs. Deloris Boone and Mrs. Mary Ann Yoder, of Anthony, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

Sandra was born Friday, Oct. 7, 1949, in Duncan, Okla., to Bill Pate and Virginia Towler Pate. She lived in the Rush Springs area all of her life. Sandra graduated from Rush Springs High School in 1967. She owned and operated S&S Flowers for 27 years. Sandra enjoyed old cars and cruising around. She always liked to help others. Sandra enjoyed work and loved her family and going to church. She also liked giving orders, and her nickname was "General." Sandra was a member of the First Assembly of God in Rush Springs.
Survivors include her brother, Ted Pate and wife Deanna of Rush Springs; two sisters, Cheryl Trammell and husband Doug, and Lori Jeffcoat and husband Preston, all of Rush Springs; her best friend and sister-by-choice, Sonya Dalrymple of Rush Springs; five nephews, four nieces, three great-nieces, and four great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Marlow: LoEtta Ann Patterson, 71, Marlow, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007 in Marlow.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Marlow with Dr. Joe Ligon and Rev. Randy Weeaks officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery, Rush Springs, Oklahoma under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Oklahoma.

LoEtta was born Wednesday, July 8, 1936 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to Elvin Murl White and Faye (Sherwood) White. LoEtta married Bobby C. Patterson on June 21, 1957 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. LoEtta was born in Rush Springs and had lived in Ada, Pocasset, Rush Springs and Comanche before moving to Marlow 32 years ago. She graduated from Rush Springs High School. LoEtta worked as a secretary for Marlow Public Schools for 27 years until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed reading, travelling and cooking. She loved sports and taking care of her grandchildren. LoEtta loved her church and the Lord. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and was in the Lydia Sunday School Class. LoEtta taught in the children's department for 28 years and worked with vacation bible school every year.

Graveside service for ELSIE LOVELESS PEARCY, 65, of Chickasha, will be at 1:30 p.m., Wed., Mar. 28, 2001, at the Rush Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Pearcy was born Oct. 8, 1935, in Chillicothe, Texas, the daughter of Raymond Olen and Effie Lola Lybarger Loveless, and died March 24, 2001 at her home in Chickasha.
Mrs. Pearcy had lived in Chickasha for over 20 years.
She and Robert Pearcy were married November 4, 1964.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Pearcy was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Gertrude Webster.
Survivors include her husband, Robert W. Pearcy of the home; one son and his wife, David and Dorothy Pearcy of Richmond Hill, Ga.; one daughter and her husband, Deleana and David Noble of Oklahoma City; two brothers and their wives, Johnny and Billie Loveless of Amarillo, Texas, and Paul and Lois Loveless of Rush Springs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

DONALD ALTON PENDLEY passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Chickasha, Okla. He was 75.
Born Dec. 8, 1932, Pendley was a lifelong resident of Rush Springs.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Blades and Sherry Riddles, both of Rush Springs; and one sister, Linda Woods, also of Rush Springs. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Phillip Blades of Rush Springs, Todd Blades of Duncan, Jamie Harlan of Edmond and Jason Cody Riddles of Rush Springs; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Forbes Pendley; one son, Joe Donald Pendley; his parents, Bill and Lucille Pendley; and a sister, Anita Strong.

 

 

Genevieve Marie Petary 

Genevive "Jeney" Marie Petary, 70, of Marlow died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 in Duncan.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Petary was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Russell, Iowa, to James Elmer and Elizabeth Dunkin. She married Lawrence L. Petary in 1952.
She was a homemaker and leaves wonders and laughter and many memories to her husband of 50 years, Lawrence.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence, of the home; three daughters and their spouses, Patience Wright and her husband, Jerry, and Roxy Wilson and her husband, Bill, all of Rush Springs, Nancy O'Neal and her husband, Cowboy, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sons, Jake Petary and Buck Petary and his wife, Mary, all of Rush Springs; three sisters, Kathryn and Dorothy of California and Mildred of Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; and many friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold W. Dunkin; and a granddaughter, Selina Fawn Williams.
Bearers will be Jerry Petary, Buck Petary, Jerry Wright Jr., Robert Page and Charles Fisher.

 

 

Richard (Frank) Peterman 

RICHARD "FRANK" PETERMAN, 65, of Rush Springs, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007, in Edmond.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs, with Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
Frank was born December 3, 1941 in Rush Springs, to Richard and Lula Bell Gilmore Peterman. He graduated from Ninnekah High School. He married Georgia Kay Scott on August 23, 1960 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1999.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1970. Frank lived in Rush Springs most of his life. He owned and operated the Rush Springs Pharmacy. After he closed the pharmacy, he moved to Brownsville, Texas, where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed being with his family and watching them in sporting events. He liked to visit and drink coffee with everyone in the store.
Frank served on the Rush Springs School Board and was president for 20 years. He was also a member of the Lion's Club and the Southern Baptist Church.
His survivors include two sons, Frank Peterman and wife Nikki of Edmond, and Todd Peterman and wife Dana of Desoto, Texas; a daughter, Sandi Ford and husband Robert of Rush Springs; five grandchildren, Austin West, Richard West, Whitney West, Brit and Alexis Morris, Kaylor and Grayson Peterman; a brother, Pete Peterman of Purcell; a sister, Angie Ogburn and husband Will of Norman; and his mother-in-law, Gracie Scott of Gainesville, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Tyler Peterman; his parents; and a brother, Danny Peterman.

Mattie Duncan Phillips 

The angel of death visited our community on Saturday morning and took Mrs. Mattie Phillips. She was a sister to Mrs. Nipsie Phillips who was buried only last week. She leaves to mourn her death two boys and three girls, T. J. and William, Lucy Nan and Inez and Mrs. Tom Steuart, and one sister in Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church by Rev. H. E. Waggoner. Burial was in the Rush Springs Cemetery by the side of her husband.
Mrs. Phillips was a Christian woman and set a good example for her children to follow."

"M. M. Phillips, 69, Dies In Home of Daughter Here

Funeral service was conducted Monday from the Missionary Baptist Church for M. M. Phillips, who died Sunday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clifton Cast, here.

The pastor, W. Barry Garrett preached the sermon. Interment was made in the local cemetery under the supervision of Callaway and Mullican.

Miles Milon Phillips was born in Illinois on the 28th day of March 1876, he departed this life on Sept. 30, at 10:30pm. He was 69 years, 6 months, and 2 days of age. He went to Texas with his parents in 1881 and settled at Poolville, Parker county, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Nipsie Pool in 1897; to this union were born 6 children, five of whom are living; one died in infancy. They are Labon of Ft. Worth, Texas; Mrs. Trudie Thompson of Yukon; Mrs. Juanita Cast of Rush Springs; Lowell in in the army stationed at Alexandria, La.; Orbon who spent 3 years with the Eng. Corps in the South Pacific, now has his discharge and will make his home at Poolville, Texas.

He is also survived by 4 brothers, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death 16 years ago. Mr. Phillips professed religion when a young man and he and his wife joined the Poolville Baptist Church and were baptized together."

Myrtle May Phillips, 92, of Rush Springs died Wed Jan 29, 1997 in Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha.
Graveside service was held at 2 pm, Saturday Feb 1 in Rush Springs Cemetery under the directions of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home with Rev Lynn Plant officiating.
Mrs Phillips was born Feb 16, 1904 in Idabel, the daughter of Arthur C. and Martha L. (Young) Sharp. She married Benjamin Charles Phillips in Idabel on 19 Sep 1924.
She had lived in Rush Springs most of her life and was a resident of Convalescent Center in Chickasha. She attended Idabel schools and was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by one son, Marion Phillips, two daughters, Maddie Jordan and Minnie Goff.
Survivors include 12 grandchildren, Eugene Phillips of Moore, Carla Gamblin of Tyler, Texas, Carl Moulder, Pat Pursley, Patty Caveny, and Kathy Alfred of Rush Springs, Charles Goff of Inola, Dale Goff, James Goff of Chickasha, and Ronnie Hurst of Oklahoma City; one step son, Simon "Bud" Phillips of Rush Springs; two sisters, Lagather Burns of Idabel and Evie Hoover of Kermit Texas; and several great and great-great grandchildren.

We received word of the death of one of our dear mothers Mrs. Nipsey Phillips who leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ben Thompson and Mrs. Clifton Cast of Acme and three boys, Mr. Labon Phillips of Chico, Texas and Lowell and Orbin at home besides a host of other friends and relatives.
The funeral was held at the Baptist Church at Rush Springs by Rev. Waggoner and burial was in the Rush Springs cemetery on Thursday.
The community extends its sympathy to the bereaved family in this dark trying hour, but we all die as we live and will meet her in that great beyond where no more sad farewells are said.
