Funeral services for Jimmie Sue Williams, 70, Chickasha, will be 10:00 AM Thursday in the First Baptist Church, Fletcher, with Brother A.L. Swagerty, Fletcher, and Rev. Bud Jones, Pastor, First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Apache, officiating. Mrs. Williams died Monday at her home. Burial will be in the Fletcher Cemetery under the direction of Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (Formerly Robbins Funeral Home). She was born on July 17, 1937 in Chickasha to James E. and Loreva G. (Pollock) Carpenter. She graduated from Fletcher High School in 1955. She married Bobby Love in Marietta, Oklahoma on July 28, 1955. He died in September of 1971. She married Orville Williams in Fletcher on May 31, 1997. She worked many years as a bookkeeper. She retired as an accounting clerk from First National Bank in Chickasha in 2002. She was member of First Baptist Church of Fletcher. Survivors include her husband of Cyril; a daughter, Jeanie Murphy of Fletcher; a son and daughter-in-law, Kent Love and Rosie of Apache; three grandchildren, Courtney Murphy of Fletcher, Lindsey Love and Micah Love, both of Apache; a great-grandson, Keegan Murphy of Fletcher; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Carpenter and Dee Ann of Norman; an aunt, Lela Davis of Chickasha; a half brother, Stanley Carpenter of Texas; many cousins and four step-children. Her first husband, her father, James Carpenter, her mother, Loreva Mitchell, a son, Edward Love, and a brother, Donnie Carpenter, preceded her in death. Fern Lorene Kuhlman was born January 17, 1921 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Grace (Weeder) and Earl Ralston. Fern passed away July 30, 2007 at 86 years of age. Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovha’s Witness in Chickasha. Marty Merritt will officiate with interment held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco.
Funeral service for Corene Pallie Black, 82, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Corene Pallie Black was born March 29, 1925 in Tabler, Oklahoma the daughter of James Woodard and Annie Louella (McMasters) Brunt and died Thursday, August 2, 2007 in Chickasha. Corene attended school and graduated from Middleburg. She married Al Christian and later married Sgt. Melvin Black. Mel preceded her in death January, 1996. Corene was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by: Father: James “Dick” Woodard Brunt; Mother: Annie Louella Brunt; three sisters: Thelma Nance, Edith Orr, and Pauline Brunt; two nieces: Barbara Persinger and Sandra Lightner; Cousin and best friend: Lillian “Tumpy” Robinson. Survivors include: one son: Tim Christian and wife Genny of Chickasha; one daughter: Julie Austin and husband Mike of Chickasha; Grandchildren: Cody Christian of Jacksonville, Florida; Marci Austin of Chickasha; Nicholas Christian and wife Becky of Shawnee; Lisa Austin of Chickasha; Madison Austin of Chickasha; two sisters: Hazel Taylor of Chickasha; Helene Waldron of Moore; Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mary A. Wilson age 89 of Chickasha will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Sharon Baptist Church. Mary A. Wilson was born May 16, 1918 at Maxwell Iowa. She was the daughter of Lawrence and Etta (Stemler) Moorehead. She died Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 in Chickasha. She married Thomas Shockley. She later married Joseph Shockley, Albert Saffle and Leaford Wilson who all preceded her in death. She had lived in the Chickasha area since 1968. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Her daughter Mary Jo McGee and sister Pauline Saffle also preceded her in death. Survivors include: two sons: Don Shockley and wife Linda of Alvarado, Texas; David Shockley and wife Louise of Deland, Florida two daughters: Julia Smith and husband Rick of Chickasha, Okla.; Beverly Green and husband Rick of Poteau, Okla. 32 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Mary Lou Marshall will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Jim Sheerer and Paul Richardson will officiate. On August 4, 2007 Mary Lou Marshall of Chickasha, OK passed away some 10 months after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She died at the age of 69 at the residence of her daughter, Daphne Massa of Nixa, MO who had been her caregiver since just before her final diagnosis. From the beginning of illness until her final hours, Mary Lou endured her illness with a grace clearly born of her faith. Mary Lou grew up in Chickasha, the daughter of Jerry and Lillie Marshall. She graduated from Chickasha High School and Oklahoma College for Women. While living in Chickasha, she taught elementary school in the surrounding communities. Mary Lou spent most of the last four decades of her life continuing to study and produce works of art, notably landscape and still life oil paintings. Her studies took her to Northern Virginia Community College, the Art League of Alexandria (VA), the Parsons School of Design, and the Art Student League, both in New York City. Mary Lou was also an apprentice to Portraitist Nelson Shanks of Pennsylvania. Mary Lou had solo exhibitions of her work in numerous locations around the Washington, DC region to include A.J.W. Fine Art in Bethesda, MD; Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC; Town Hall in Vienna, VA; and the Atrium Gallery at Lombardi, in Washington, DC. Her work has been seen in galleries to include the Ambassador Gallery, INC of New York, NY; the Broadway Gallery of Fairfax, VA; the Byrne Gallery of Middleburg, VA; and the Gallerie La Vie, of Santa Fe, NM. Throughout her life, Mary Lou was a faithful Christian and member of the Church of Christ. She lived a life deep in faith, with a clear commitment to Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Her family knows she rests now with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Marshall and her brothers, Jerry Franklin Marshall and John Marshall. Mary Lou is survived by her mother Lillie, also of Chickasha; her brother and his wife James and Mary Ruth Marshall of Oklahoma City; her son and his family, Tod Massa, his wife Melinda, and their sons James and Zachary of Richmond, VA; her daughter, Daphne Massa, and her daughter, Alyson Baker, both of Nixa, MO; and her daughter Sara Boyle, her husband Don, and their children: Katie, Brendan, Peter, Tom, Philip, and Meg of Alpharetta, Ga. Funeral services for Carolyn “JoAnn” Chadrick, 59, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2007, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Alice Wendling officiating. JoAnn Chadrick was born April 1, 1948, in McAlester, Oklahoma the daughter of Lee Roy and Lucille (Cripps) Stoddard. She died August 8, 2007, at her home in Chickasha. She attended schools and graduated high school in Porterville, California.She married Charles “Chuck” Chadrick on September 21, 2004, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They had been together for 23 years prior to their marriage. JoAnn was a hard worker, a real go getter and never slowed down. She loved everyone and tried to take care of everyone. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed puttering around on her farm, riding 4-wheelers, caring for her horses, hunting, going to the lake, camping, fishing, visiting the casinos, and taking long drives. She and Chuck owned and operated the Wan Dora Bar in Chickasha for several years, where she met and made numerous friends. She was a long time member of the Eagles Lodge. She was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by her husband, Chuck, of the home; two daughters and son-in-law: Trina Symons, and Gina and Mike Parham, all of Chickasha; son and daughter-in-law: Chad and Rita Chadrick, of Moore; brother, Don Cripps, of Chickasha; grandchildren: Lakan and Megan Symons, Mykayla and Bradley Parham, and Matt Chadrick; brother-in-law, Rocky Chadrick; special friends: Elaine and Jeff Calhoun, of Texas; and numerous other family and friends. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

KATHRYN HARBISON Graveside services for Kathryn L. Harbison, 85, of Chickasha will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2007, in the Fairlawn Cemetery . Kathryn Harbison was born December 29, 1921, in Chickasha. She died August 8, 2007, in Chickasha. She grew up in Chickasha and attended Chickasha Public Schools, graduating from Chickasha High School. She later attended the Chickasha College for Women. She married the love of her life, Monroe Harbison Jr. on July 5, 1957. They owned and operated the movie theater in Verden , Oklahoma for a number of years. After selling their theater, they moved back to Chickasha and started their career in the grocery business. She was a loving and devoted wife for 49 wonderful years before Monroe preceded her in death on April 16, 2006. She later went to work as a bookkeeper for Southern Plains Medical Center where she worked until her retirement. After her retirement she enjoyed taking care of her husband and her home, tending to her flowers, and visiting with her friends. Kathryn was a caring and positive person. She had a big heart and a strong will. She offered her family and friends an abundance of love, care, joy and happiness. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She was active in many of the church’s activities until her health started declining. Kathryn’s family would like to thank very special friends: Benny Buckminster, Naomi Dean, Mary Bates, and Brain Gertes for all the love, care, time and friendship that they devoted to Kathryn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe; both parents; and cousin, Mona Lambird. Survivors include cousins: Jerry Salyer and Christopher Salyer; and many special friends. Funeral Services for Patsy Beck, 77, of Rush Springs will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the First Christian Church, with Michael Oberlender officiating. Patsy Beck was born April 3, 1930, in Chickasha, Oklahoma the daughter of Matthew and Norah (Brooks) Holland. She died September 1, 2007, in Chickasha. Patsy married the love of her life, Gordon Buford Beck Jr., on August 27, 1947, at the age of 17, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were married for 53 years before he preceded her in death on February 26, 2000. She and Buford had lived in Cement, Ninnekah, and later moved to Rush Springs in 1986, where she lived until her health started to decline. Patsy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chickasha. She enjoyed being active in the church and enjoyed her church family. She was a Perpetual Member of Chickasha Chapter #29 Order of the Eastern Star. She also held several offices in the local chapter including Past Matron, and was Past Grand Adah, District Deputy and Past Grand Representative of Oklahoma Grand Chapter. Patsy was preceded in death by both parents and dear husband Buford Beck. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Beck, of Oklahoma City; one son Gordon B. Beck III, of Bothell, Washington; sister-in-law: Francea Ivie, of Moore, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, W.C. Beck of Covington, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Holly Beck, Brain Beck, Gordon Beck IV, Matthew Beck, Taylor Beck, and Joseph Blitzer; and numerous other relatives. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Georgia Elise Barger was born July 22, 1918 in Nashville, Arkansas the daughter of George and Leila (Huddleston) Koonce and died August 14, 2007 in Longview, Texas. She graduated from Watson’s Business College and attended OCW in Chickasha. Georgia married Alvin Barger in 1939, and they raised two daughters in the Chickasha area. She and her husband owned a real estate business and a farm until retirement. Georgia was preceded in death by: Husband: Alvin Barger; Parents: George and Leila Koonce; one brother: Guy Koonce. Survivors include: two daughters: Carla Dodson of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; Brenda Barger of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter: Tracy Kennedy; one grandson: Geoff Wolfe; one great-granddaughter: Alisha Wolfe; two great-grandsons: Justin Milligan; Bryan Milligan; one great-great-granddaughter: Audrey Leigh Kyser. Funeral service for Wanda Faye Moore, 78, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Wanda Faye Moore was born April 16, 1929 in Amber, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Nellie Keller Davis and Charles Wade Davis who have preceded her in death. She died August 16, 2007 in Norman, Oklahoma. Wanda attended school in Lawton, Oklahoma; Duncan, Oklahoma and Rialto, California. She married Robert Lynn Moore, II in 1946 in Henrietta, Texas. They moved to the Chickasha area in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on November 1, 1989. She is survived by: eight children: Robert Lynn Moore III, Deborah Martin, Nick Moore, Teena Hicks, Rick Moore, Melissa Casey and Shane Moore; one sister, Sue Davis and four brothers Jim Davis, Gene Davis, Joe Hopkins, George Hopkins. Three brothers preceded her in death Bobby Davis, Odis Hopkins and Paul Hopkins. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Wanda had a long career in sales at Hicks Department Stores and Zales Jewelers where she retired in 1989. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Funeral service for Wanda Pruner Byram, 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Wanda Pruner B was born March 4, 1921 in Chickasha, Oklahoma the daughter of Charles Beaver (a Delaware Indian) and Cynthia (Anderson) Pruner and died Thursday, August 16, 2007 in Chickasha. Wanda grew up on the family farm, a Choctaw Indian allotment of her mother’s 5 miles NE of Chickasha. She graduated from Amber High School. She worked as a nurse at Borden General Hospital during World War II and later worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and retired after 30 years as a Senior Administrative Personnel Officer. She received commendations for her excellent service with the BIA. Wanda lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for over 25 years and moved back to Chickasha 2 years ago. Wanda was preceded in death by: Parents; one son: Dwain Brown; seven brothers: Blake Pruner, C.B. Pruner, Bob Pruner, Walter Pruner, Pat Pruner, Jim Pruner and Jess Pruner; one sister: Waneta Pruner. Survivors include: Children: Blain Brown and wife Ada of Los Angeles, California; Vicki Tyler and husband Toby of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Cynthia Schoppet and husband Chuck of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister: Norma Knowles of Chickasha; two brothers: Harold Pruner and wife Ann of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; Bill Pruner and wife Joan of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren: Charles, Curtis, Craig, Casey, Cade, Chandra, Teena, April, Christine and Shawn; six great- grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews. Anna Louise Dahl was born July 16, 1915 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the daughter of Arnold F. and Elizabeth Anna (Kehr) Husmann and died August 18, 2007 in Chickasha. Anna lived in Oklahoma City, then Yukon for 10 years and moved to the Pocasset area in 1950. Anna and Harry Dahl were married November 2, 1938 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Chickasha. She was a member of Ladies Aid. Anna was preceded in death by: Her Parents; Her husband: Harry Dahl; 8 brothers and 5 sisters. Survivors include:one son: Russell Dahl of Chickasha; one daughter and son-in-law: Janice and Lawrence Schein of Pocasset; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Minco under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home, Minco. Carl W. Githens was born on February 1, 1927 in Sweetwater. He died on August 21, 2007 at Parkview Hospital in El Reno.
Funeral service for Vertilene Thompson Taylor, 83, of Alex, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the Middleberg Baptist Church. Vertilene Thompson Taylor was born December 13, 1924 in Madill, Oklahoma and died August 21, 2007 in Chickasha. She lived in Grady County all of her life. She and Rogene Taylor were married January 3, 1944 in Chickasha. They owned and operated a dairy farm north of Alex for many years. She was preceded in death by: Parents; two sisters; one brother. Survivors include: Husband: Rogene Taylor of the home; one son: Ronnie Taylor and wife Shirley of Alex; three daughters: Elaine Drennan and husband Ricky of Alex; Brenda Johnson and husband Greg of Alex; Regena Reeves and husband Rick of Alex; one sister: Willa Dean Fisher of Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren: Tammy Taylor, Todd Taylor, Tyanne Taylor, Trent Drennan, Crystie Shebester, Jake Johnson, Ryan Reeves and Ross Reeves; five great-grandchildren: Dillon Brewer, Amanda Taylor, Blake Taylor, Cooper Shebester, and Konner Shebester. Funeral service for Lois L. Cates Sharpe (Granny) will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 8, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Lois L. Cates Sharpe (Granny) was born August 25, 1918 at Bokchito, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Isom and Martha Ann (Bettis) Lehew. She died Tuesday September 4, 2007 in Chickasha. She and John C. Cates were married in 1936, he preceded her in death. She married Ed Sharpe in 1960, he also preceded her in death. She loved Bingo and going to Las Vegas. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her parents, four brothers Warren Gene, Floyd, Tommy, Lewis and Haskel Lehew, Three sisters and three son-in-laws also preceded her in death. Survivors include: one son: Sonny Cates and wife Patsy of Chickasha; two daughters: JoAnn Lewis of Moore; Sharon Stephens of Chickasha; Son: Ronnie Lehew and wife; Vickie of Blanchard; two brothers: Manuel Lehew of Lawton; Robert Lehew of Magnolia, Texas; grandchildren: Donna Davidson, Tina Young, Sherri Amerson, Lise` Lewis, Leslie Lewis, Linda Sells and Larry Lewis. several great- grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral service for Brandie Kay Hughes, 19, of Moore, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Moore, Okla. Brandie Kay Hughes was born June 27, 1988 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Jimmy Keith Hughes and Marsha (Brown) Hodges and died Friday, November 2, 2007 in Moore, Oklahoma. Brandie lived in Moore practically all of her life and attended public school there. She was a member of the state championship softball team with the Moore Lady Lions. She was also a member of the DECA at Moore High School. She graduated from Moore High School in 2006. She was preceded in death by father, Jimmy Keith Hughes; great- grandparents, Ruby and Guy Brown; and great-grandmother, Thelma Russell. Survivors include mother and stepfather, Marsha and James Hodges of Moore, Okla.; sister, Chelsie Hughes of Moore, Okla.; half brother, Dillion Hughes; stepbrother, Andrew Hodges; stepbrother, Jordan Hodges; grandmother, Patsy Holstein of Pilot Point, Texas; grandparents, Pete and Frances Brown of Moore, Okla.; grandparents, Alice and Joe Hughes of Bowie, Texas; great-grandfather, Jodie Sevier of Chickasha; and great-grandmother, Virginia Sevier of Chickasha. Funeral service for Shirley Coon, age 64, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday September 7, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Shirley Coon was born November 4, 1942 at Maud, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Rancie Charley and Neater Ethel (Mitchell) Heffley. She died Monday September 3, 2007 in Oklahoma City. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Jaunita McDonald, age 86, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2007, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Jaunita was born September 16, 1920, in Waurika, OK, the daughter of Henry Clay Brown and Alice McGuire Brown. She passed away on June 20, 2007, in Chickasha after a lengthy illness. She was raised throughout Oklahoma and Missouri. The majority of her childhood was spent with her paternal grandmother, Gertrude "Gran" Brown. Jaunita attended Beauty School in Oklahoma City in the early 40's after graduation from Chickasha High School. She worked in shops around Chickasha including Mrs. Garrison’s from 1942 to 1943 and The Flight from 1943 to 1955. At that time she opened her own shop in her home where she worked until her retirement in 1994. She married Lee McDonald on August 22, 1943, in Oklahoma City. They were married for 51 years before Lee preceded her in death on October 27, 1994. They had been faithful members of Holy Name Catholic Church. Mrs. McDonald was also preceded in death by her grandmother, Gertrude Brown, a great grandson, Benjamin Clarke, her parents, and one sister. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Phillip Edelblute of Chickasha, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jennifer and Lee Clarke of Tampa, FL, granddaughter, Jessica Edelblute of Cape Cod, MA, and great- grandson, Elijah Clarke. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Philip West of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Epworth United Methodist Church. Philip West passed away June 23, 2007 at Integris Hospital at the age of 47. He was born May 9, 1960, in Ft. Worth, Texas, the son of Ted and Jean (Miser) West. He came to Chickasha at age 11, and attended Chickasha Schools, later graduating from Amber-Pocasset High School in 1978. At that time he continued a career of farming and ranching along with many other endeavors. He married Mandi (Shatwell) West on May 4, 2006, and lovingly brought her and her son Gavin and Garrett into his life. Philip now had his family and devoted himself to them. They only had a brief time together, but every minute they had was special and they enjoyed being together. Philip was known and loved throughout Grady county and beyond. Anyone who came to know him knew his gentle nature. Philip made friends easily and he held these friendships close to his heart. He could make anyone laugh through his quick wit or his relentless pranks. Because of his compassion and empathy, much of his time was spent as a constant facilitator and peacemaker, continually bringing happiness to those around him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mandi West and stepsons Gavin 10 and Garrett 7, of the home; parents Jean and Ted West, of Chickasha; one sister, Alice Roberts; special niece, Rachel 5, of Edmond; sister-in-law, Marci Shackelford, of Tuttle; three brothers-in-law: Mark, Michael, and Mace Shatwell, all of Tuttle; and countless other family and friends. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
