FALL FROM CHAIR PRODUCED DEATH
Willow, Okla., April 5 – This vicinity has within the past few days witnessed another distressing incident which, like the burning of the Bell home, was due to over-indulgence in intoxicants, according to the evidence in each case.
Robert Cowley, who resided on the O’Connel farm just west of Willow, came into town, and is said to have drank rather heavily of Hostetter’s Bitters, becoming intoxicated, it is said. While seated in chair after his return home, Cowley suddenly pitched forward out of the chair, landing on his head and sustaining a fracture of the bones on one side of the head which paralyzed the side of his body. After lingering several days, he died as a result of the accident.
N. W. Potella, a druggist of this town, was placed under arrest and charged with selling intoxicating liquers. The arrest followed Cowley’s death, for it is charged the drink was secured at the Patella’s drug store. He waived the preliminary examination and was held under a $500 bond.
