"To the Public:
"Written representation has been made to me by H. A I . Barrett, E. W. Miller,
E. S. Worrell, JJ. 11. T r u e and O B Garrison of Jefferson county, Oklahoma,
of conditions prevailing among the agricultural class of that county From the
facts as disclosed by these gentlemen, there can he no doubt but that the
farmers of Jefferson county NEED AND MUST OBTAIN aid to enable them to raise a
crop during the year 1912.
'The drought prevailing in certain sections of Oklahoma for the past three years
has been decidedly more disastrous to Jefferson county than iny county in the
state. The result is that, business men
and the bankers of Hifit county have exhausted all of its reversed by its lines
their ability to aid in sustaining the farmers , and many of the good and
deserving people of that county are in dire need.
They are without seed for planting; without proper food for nourishment, and
without clothing to properly protect them from the cold. "Acting upon their
request and in their behalf, I appeal to the charitably- inclined people of
t(his and other communities to come to their assistance. Any donations in the
way of seed oats, corn, milo maize, kefir corn, clothing, provisions or money
can be sent to the committee selected by the people of that county, which is
composed of the Rev. D. N. Curb and the Rev. W. C. Fleetwood, Ryan, Okla. These
