Oklahoma Events Family and friends of Alma Mae Cales Leavell are
invited to celebrate her 90th birthday this Saturday, July
11 from 2 to 4 p.m.
at the First Christian Church in
Winfield, Kan. The church is located at East
Ninth and

Kansas area on July 9, 1919. She married Albert Earl "Bud"
Leavell on July 12,
1937. Mrs. Leavell continues to reside
in the home the couple established in
Winfield in 1940.
The couple shared their love of gardening through their family
business, Paradise Gardens. Alma had two sons, Marcus
Leavell, Ponca City, and
the late Marvin Leavell. She has
one grandson, Marcus Chad Leavell and his wife
Sara and
two great-grandchildren, of Tulsa.
On Saturday, June 27, 2009, forty
descendants of Roy B. "Fritz" and Ethel (Gillock)
Osborn, along with ten guests, attended the 18th annual family reunion
held at Sun and Fun. Represented were five of the six children of the original
family: Roy Eugene, Jack Ray, Charles Richard "Dick," Peggy Joan and Bill
Don. Attending from Ponca City in honor of the late Jack Osborn was Casey
Jack, Vickie and Cassidy Osborn. From the immediate family of the deceased Roy
"Gene" Osborn was his granddaughter, April Williams, Ponca City. Representing
the late Dick Osborn was his widow Norma, Ponca City; Mike and Debbie (Osborn)
Thompson of Marland; Micah Thompson, Evan and Lane of Ponca City; Zack Thompson
and fiancé, Courtny, with daughter Taylor of Midwest City; and Troy and Lisa
Osborn, Charlie, Caleb, Story, and JoAnna of Yukon; Brittney Landen, also of
Yukon; Todd and Marcia Osborn, Katherine, Lexie, Regina, Gregory, Shelbi and
Kayden Leigh of Elgin. Peggy (Osborn) Huff of Perry was joined in
attendance by Jacquie Hand of Colorado Springs; Don Huff of Perry; Darren and
Deana Huff, Riley and Denton of Arcadia; and Kyla and Kayle Golay of
Orlando. From Lawton were Bill and Billie Lou (Buttram) Osborn and family
members Leslie Osborn, Austin T., Lillie and Joshua of Oklahoma City and Allison
Rabon with friend Luke Coody from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. A
special first cousin of Peggy and Bill's, Robbie Oldfield, attended from
Burbank. In addition, two long-time friends of the family attended: Laura
(Talbert) Council from Corpus Christie, Texas, and daughter, Jeanne Salyer of
Shidler. Lunch consisted of the traditional Osborn catfish fry
complemented by potluck dishes shared by family members. Mike Thompson and Troy
Osborn caught the catfish. Debbie Thompson and grandson Lane cleaned and
prepared the catfish. Mike and Debbie voluntarily performed their annual duties
of frying the catfish as families gathered. Following the meal a variety of
homemade ice creams was served. The afternoon was spent enjoying the water park,
visiting, hula-hooping, playing volleyball and "carrom," — a traditional game
for the Osborn family. Family awards were presented. The award for traveling the
most miles went to Jacquie Hand. The newest Osborn award went to fourteen-month
old Kayden Leigh, daughter of Shelbi Osborn. Norma (Taylor) Osborn had the most
family members present with 24 attending and, still, the Oldest Osborn award was
given to Peggy (Osborn) Huff. Charlie Osborn served as auctioneer for the sale
of individually crafted articles and home-baked goods. Proceeds from the auction
are used to pay for expenses of future reunions. Assisting Charlie was Story
Osborn. Leslie Osborn served as the clerk. The nineteenth Osborn Reunion will be
held at the same location on the last Saturday of June in 2010
