Two Norman People Married. At the parlors of the Grand Avenue hotel at 8 o'clock last night, L.C. Allen and Mrs. Isabelle Glaser of Norman were joined in marriage by Rev. W.K. Piner of the M.E. church, south. The couple was attended by C.W. Bessant and Fred Carder and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Allen will leave for Winfield, Kansas, this morning where they will spend several days visiting friends before returning to their home in Norman. Mr. Allen is a prominent business man of Norman.


BATES-ESTILL

Church in Tulsa Is Nuptial Setting for Patricia Estill
A setting of tropical Woodwardia fern, palms, standards of eucalyptus and floor baskets of white chrysanthemums in graduated sizes were used to decorate the Wheeling Avenue Christian church in Tulsa for the marriage of Miss Patricia Lee Estill to William Colcord Bates. Vows were exchanged as the couple knelt on a white satin prie-dieu. White cathedral candelabra were also used, white the center aisle was marked with single lighted tapers linked together with white satin ribbon. Rev. Dyer Campbell read the nuptial ceremony at 8 p.m. Saturday. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Errett Estill, Tulsa, white the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Bates, Albuquerque, N.M. He is the grandson of Mrs. Charles F. Colcord, 421 N.W. 13. Edward Flynn, organist, presented a program of music preceding the ceremony. (titles omitted for this transcription). The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an ivory satin dress with fitted bodice. The high rounded neckline was finished with a lace collar and the same lace was used to trim the long, fitted sleeves. Polonaise drapery was used on the skirt, which terminated in a fan-like train. Her headdreww was of Michaelangelo heirloom lace from which cascaded tiers of imported bridal illusion. She carried a bouquet on a white satin Bible, which had been given to her by her paternal grandmother. The bouquet was a cascade of stephanotis, gardenias and shattered chrysanthemums centering a cluster of white orchids. Miss Mary Lou Stewart, 820 N.W. 38; Miss Betty Lou Lee, 1932 NW 17; Miss Julia Jarrett, Muskogee; Miss Hunter McMurray, Norman; Mrs. Merritt Eugene Purdy, Memphis, and Miss Mary LeFlore were bridesmaids. They wore imported taffet dresses of lilac pink fashioned with off the shoulder necklins. The bouffant skirts were trimmed with peplums ending in pointed cascades at the back. Bolero jackets were work with the dresses. Mrs. Frank Cronican, Albuquerque, sister of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. She wore a dress of lavender taffeta and carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses tied with the matching ribbon. All of the attendants wore halo headdresses of matching taffeta. The bridesmaids carried cascade bouquets of chrysanthemums of a lilac shade. John Wesley Bates, Jr. was best man for his brother. Ushers included Mr. Cronican, brother-in-law of the groom; Walter Hugh Helmerich III, Tom Clay Callahan, and Colcord Callahan, both of Oklahoma City, all cousins of the bridegroom; Joseph Johnson, William Johnson, Frank Dunn, Edward Ligon and Thomas Morre Jr. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Estill chose a dinner dress of royal blue crepe with matching hat. Her corsage was of white orchids. Mrs. Bates wore a dress of American Beauty shade, a hat of the same shade and a similar corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Estill entertained at a reception at Southern Hills Country club following the ceremony. The bride's table was covered with an antique lace cloth and centered with a five-tiered wedding cake garlanded by tiny, white chrysanthemums, gardenias and bows of tulle. Antique crystal candelabra holding white tapers flanked the cake. Guests were registered by Mrs. Paul Behrents. The wedding couple left for a wedding trip to New Orleans and the Gulf coast. Mrs. Bates wore a suit and hat of aqua suede with sable mist accessories. Her corsage was of cocoa brown orchids.

BRUNSON-BOWLIG

At the residence of C.A. Killinig, 209½ West Main Street, Miss Camille Bowlig and Thomas G. Brunson were married March 2, Rev. J.H.O. Smith of the Christian church officiated. Miss Bowlig is a an accomplished lady from Hinsdale, Montana and Mr. Brunson is a prominent business man of Ardmore, where they will reside.

Old Home Site For Wedding
Granddaughter of C. F. Colcord To Be Married Today In Family Residence.
The spacious colonial home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Colcord, 421 West Thirteenth street, will be the scene Monday at high noon of the wedding of Miss Nadine Colcord with Ed Davis Ligon, Tulsa. Miss Colcord is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Colcord, Kansas City, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Colcord. Mr. Ligon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred G. Heggem, Tulsa. The altar will be improvised before the fireplace in the large living room and will be banked with pink peionies and smilax and lighted with white tapers in floor candelabras. Roses and gladioli will be used throughout the house. For the nupital music Mrs. Crete Stewart Darnall will play the wedding marchs and will accompany H.E. Williams, Tulsa, who will sing "Thank God for a Garden" and "I Love Thee". Miss Colcord will wear a white bias dress with a cape bordered with daisies. Her white small hat will have a nose veil and her flowers will be gardenias. For her something old Miss Colcord will have a handkerchief wedding ring loaned her by Mrs. Ken Winship, Tulsa, for the collection of her grandmother. She will enter with her father down the stairway. Mrs. Elizabeth Austin Day, Kansas City, will be matron of honor and little Miss Harriet Bates, a cousin of the bride and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Bates, Tulsa, will be the junior attendant. Mrs. Day will be attired in an azure blue crepe, large picture hat and matching accessories. She will carry an arm bouquet of pink roses. Harriett's frock will be fashioned of pink organdie with a bertha and ruffled skirt. Her accessories will be in blue and she will have an old fashioned nosegay. W. O. Ligon, Tulsa, will be best man for his brother and Ray Colcord Jr. will be the groomsman. The marriage vows will be read by Rev. Forney Hutchinson, pastor of the St. Luke's Methodist church, and the ceremony will be followed by a breakfast for the wedding guests. The bride's table will be adorned with the cake, pale yellow candles and rose petals scattered with lilies of the valley. Roses on the buffet will repeat the color of the candles. The couple will go to New Mexico on their honeymoon trip and will be at home after July 1 at 19 East Tenth street, Tulsa. Leaving Monday afternoon, the bride will wear for traveling a brown creme suite with brown and white accessories. Miss Colcord has wide friendships among the younger set here made during frequent visits at the home of her grandparents. She was educated in Notre Dame de Sion, Kansas City, and Montemare, Lake Placid, N.Y.

COLCORD-PINER
Popular Young People Wed
One of the pleasant surprises of the week in social circles was the announcement that came from Spirit Lake, Thursday of the marriage of Miss Rena Piner, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. K. Piner, 1213 North Robinson, to Mr. Ray Colcord, 421 West Thirteenth street at the Colcord summer home at Spirit Lake, Iowas. Last Sunday Miss Piner accompanied the Colcord family to Spirit Lake for a visit, and while the marriage of these two young people was expected and pending in the near future, the occurance of the wedding on Wednesday was a surprise to family and friends.

Upon receiving a dispatch announceing the marriage Dr. and Mrs. Piner, pastor of St. Luke's Methodist church of this city, and one of the city's most charming society belles. She is a graduate of the College for Women at Bowling Green, Ky., known as the Potier college, receiving at the close of the course the degree if bachelor of arts, The groom is the oldest son of Mr. C. F. Colcord, who is a leading banker and reality holder. He has recently been engaged as civil engineer on the survey of the Interurban between Oklahoma City and Guthrie. But it is understood he will soon establish himself in the banking and real estate business in the near future. As soon as they are located, this happy couple will build a home and go to housekeeping. Mr. and Mrs. Colcord will remain at Spirit Lake until September when they will return to this city, at which time receptions and dinners in their honor will be given. This happy couple were each popular members of Oklahoma City's younger social set and they have a host of friends who are glad to extend hearty congratulations and best wishes.

November 14 Set For Bates-Cronican Wedding in Tulsa
Miss Harriet Colcord Bates, Tulsa, and her fiance, Frank A. Cronican, Lubbock, Texas, whose engagement was announced recently by Miss Bates parents Mr. & Mrs. John Wesley Bates, Tulsa, have selected November 14 for their marriage, which will take place in Tulsa. Miss Bates is the granddaughter of Mrs. Charles F. Colcord, 421 N.W. Thirteenth street, and the late Mr. Colcord and is the niece of Mrs. L. Dudley Callahan, 434 N.W. Thirteenth street. Mrs. Colcord returned to her home in Oklahoma City several weeks ago from her ranch in the eastern part of the state. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. James S. White and Mr. White of the ranch. Mr. White reported for duty at Fort Sill the first of the week. He was accompanied by Mrs. White

LIGHTNER-KENNARD
August 6 is the date for their wedding chosen by Miss Jimmie Lea Kennard and Pfc Darrell Paul Lightner. The engaged couple will be married in El Reno. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rex Kennard, 7401 N Council Rd., and her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Lightner, 8700 SW 29. Miss Kennard is a graduate of Northwest Classen High School and Mr. Lightner is a graduate of Central High School.

MITCHELL-MORTON
Marvell Morton's Betrothal Told
Mr. and Mrs. Harrie Morton, 928 SW 34, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Marvell Morton to Howard Mitchell, Scotts Hill, Tennessee.
The wedding will be an event of December 23 at 7:30 p. m. in the Midwest City, Church of Christ, Mark McElhanney will officiate.
Miss Morton is a graduate of Classen high school and of Abilene Christian college, Abilene, Texas. The prospective bridegroom is also a graduate of Abilene Christian college.

OFFUTT-GARRISON
The announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Lola C. Garrison and Mr. Gelix Grundy Offutt, of this city, which took place December 5 in the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. L. B. Garrison in Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Offutt is the brother of Mrs. Evans A. Nash and Mr. Joseph E. Offutt, returned immediately to Kelly Air Field where he is stationed in military service. Mrs. Offutt will remain with her mother in Amarillo, until more definite plans are made.

OFFUTT-NASH
A complete surprise to their many friends in this city was the wedding of Miss Nancy B. Offutt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Offutt of West Twenty-third street, and Evans A. Nash, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Nash of 1314 North Hudson street, which took place Wednesday morning in El Reno, Miss Offutt and Mr. Nash having taken an early morning train for that place and the ceremony being performed immediately upon their arrival. From El Reno the young couple went to Cheyenne, Okla., where they will remain a week with Mr. and Mrs. T. I. Miller. Upon their return they will reside with the groom's parents. The bride is a graduate of the local high school and has resided in Oklahoma City for many years. She is tall, slend, and blonde and is known among her friends for her sweetness of disposition and character. Mr. Nash came to Oklahoma City about two years ago from St. Joseph, Mo. He is a graduate of a Jesuit school, St. Mary's College, St. Marys, Kan. He has a host of friends in the city and is a popular member of both the Jol de Vie and Comus clubs. He is also well known in newspaper circles and has recently been made city editor of the Daily Pointer.

OFFUTT-MARSHALL
At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Marshall, of 427 East Tenth Street, their daughter, Miss Greta May Marshall, was married last evening at 8:30 o'clock to C. Paisley Offutt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Offutt of 737 West Twenty-third street, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. Thomas H. Harper. The house was beautifully decorated with palms, ferns and flowers, the table in the dining room being done in ferns and white carnations. The bride was attired in a handsome gown of lavender brocaded silk and carried a bouquet of bride roses. A repast followed the ceremony. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Offutt, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dochman, Mr. and Mrs. Evans Nash, Mr. and Mrs. Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Offutt, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Brannon, Mr. and Mrs. Charles White, Mr. and Mrs. George Hastings, Mrs. Fred H. Garrison, the Misses Irene Aufright, Hilma Thurston, Alta and Georgia Hastings, and Mr. A. K. Riely, Mrs. and Mrs. Offutt have gone to their home at 30 East Tenth street. Mr. Offutt is clerk of the county.

Miss Mary Stephens Piner and Mr. Joe E. Offutt, whose marriage will take place at the First Methodist church at Tampa, Floridak, Wednesday, May 20th, Dr. W. K. Piner, father of the bride and minister at the church, officiating. The bride formerly resided here, and will, after her marriage, again be welcomed as a resident by many friends here. The groom is a popular traveling man making his headquarters here, and is a member of a number of the exclusive clubs.

PAUL-CAMPBELL

Mrs. Eugene Paul, who before her marriage was Miss Maria Campbell, daughter of Mrs. A. J. Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Paul are favorites in the younger set. Their recent marriage was a surprise to their friends. They reside with the bride's mother on North Harvey street. Mrs. Paul was honored with a miscellanous shower given Tuesday afternoon by Miss Amy Carson.

WARNER-OFFUTT
Miss Offutt Is Bride of Mr. Warner
Miss Yvonne Offutt, daughter of Mrs. Great Offutt, 1205 Northwest Twentieth street, and Charles E. Warner were married Friday night at 7 o'clock in the study of the home of Rev. John R. Abernathy, 1108 Northwest Nineteenth street. The ceremony was celebrated simply in the presence of members of the two families. The only attendant for the bride was Mrs. Arthur E. Muegge, herself a recent bride. Mrs. Warner wore a dark brown traveling suit chich is a Hattie Carnegie model, and her accessories were of a cream shade. A corsage of gardenias and lilies marked the lapel of the suit. Jack McQuaid was best man for the bridegroom. A few friends attended an informal reception after the wedding at Mrs. Offutt's home. The couple is now spending several days at Dallas and Fort Worth attending the Pan-American exposition. They will be at home when they return at 1112 North Hudson avenue. After her public school education, Mrs. Warner studied design from a private teacher. Mr. Warner received his education in Houston, Texas, where his father, C. P. Warner, now lives.

Madelene Offutt Weds Officer
Mr. and Mrs. Felix G. Offutt, 234 Eubanks, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Lola Madelene Offutt, to Capt. Robert Wheeler, USMCR, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Wheeler, Tulsa, May 12 in the home of Rev. L. E. Smith, pastor of the Tulsa First Baptist church. Capt. Wheeler and his bride are on a wedding trip to point in Texas, and after June 1 will make a home on the west coast near the base to which he will be assigned. The bride is a graduate of Classen highschool and of the University of Oklahoma, Norman. At the university she became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and Theta Sigma Phi, national honorary fraternity for women in journalism. She also is a member of French Heels. Capt. Wheeler is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and was attending law school at George Washing University, Washington, D. C., at the time of his enlistment in the marines. He received his commission at Quantico, Va., in July, 1942, and has served 29 months in the south Pacific. He took part in the campaigns on Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima.
