Alsea-Altitude 250 feet. Population 150. On Alsea river, across Coast Mountains, 29 1/2 miles from Corvallis. Dairying, stock raising, poultry and general farming. Soil rich and adapted to fruit growing. Electric lighting and water works plants privately owned. Surrounded by large area standing timber. High and graded public school. Baptist and Presbyterian churches. Grange, Farmers Union. Fraternal orders represented are: I.O.O.F., M.W. of A. and R.U. of A.
