Website updated with new data on January 14, 2008

This county is available for adoption!

Hi, my name is Shauna Williams and I am the Oregon Trails Host. I will put information on this page as I receive it but what it really needs is a host of its own. Please check out the main Genealogy Trails site through the logo above to learn about volunteering. There you can also find other states with information and mailing lists for different parts of the country. I will be accepting data contributions for this and any other county so please feel free to send in your goodies to share!!

"Crook County was formed from Wasco County in 1882, and named for Maj. Gen. George Crook, U.S. Army. Geographically,  the county is in the center of Oregon. It is unique in that it has only one incorporated population center, the city of Prineville, founded in 1868. Prineville’s colorful past was the scene of Indian raids, range wars between sheepmen and cattlemen and vigilante justice. Other communities in this sparsely settled region are Powell Butte, Post and Paulina." Oregon Blue Book
