Obituary
George Weart, a brother of Mrs. A. L. Holcombe of
this place, W.A. Weart of Blawenburg and Mrs. J.H. Blackwell of
Trenton, died on July 2d, at his home in Hood River, Oregon, of
paralysis, after an illness of about a week. Interment was at Hood
River.
Mr. Weart was a resident of New Jersey all his
life until about two years ago, when he removed from his home at
Deal Beach at Oregon. He was about 72 years of age and was well
known by many of the older residents of this place and vicinity,
with whom he associated in his younger days when he resided here. He
was among the first ones in this state to enlist as a volunteer in
the war of the rebellion and served his country during the entire
war. His brother, James M. Weart, for whom the G.A.R. Post in this
place was named, was the first volunteer to sign his name to the
roll in New Jersey.
