The cemetery occupies a portion of Joseph Franklin Griffin's Oregon Donation Land Claim.
It is accessed through private property. From South Stage Road in Medford, go south on Griffin
Creek Road about 1.7 miles to Burrell Rd. on your right. Go about .2 mile up the road to the
private property gate on the right (3070 Burrell Road). The owner is very accommodating to
visitors, but be sure and respect his land as you travel through to the cemetery at the end
of his driveway. Sign on the cemetery gate reads 'OLD GRIFFIN CR CEMETERY'. There are many
graves in this cemetery without markers or markers that are no longer readable. Many of those
names are included in the book 'Griffin Creek Cemetary', ISBN 1-56768-056-9, by Ruby Lacy
and Lida Childers, Copyright 1995. These two ladies contributed a wealth of research data to
the records of Jackson county, and are both now deceased. I have permission from Virgil Lacy,
son of Ruby, to post that information for the use of others. Names with an (*) are taken from
the book.
