The house on the farm of Claude Hill in Little(?) Butte precinct, Jackson county, was destroyed by are one day last week, as also were many of its contents. The loss will not fall much short of $1000, upon which there is no insurance.
The farm of ------ Palmer of Griffin's creek, Jackson county was burned to the ground last Tuesday, together with most of its contents. The loss is several hundred dollars as there was a considerable quantity of hay stored in the barn at the time. The origin of the fire is unknown.

Jackson County-
W.S. King, of -oots creek who manufactured several hundred gallons of sorghum during the last year, will engage in this industry quite extensively, and order a first class mill.
The Rogue river distillery commenced the manufacture of another lot of whisky a few days since, and will make a several months run. A great deal of this liquor is being disposed of in different parts of the state.
Prof. Fleming, of Little Butte precinct, informs the Times that on the night of December 19 he noticed a large, bright meteor in the northern heavens, which seemed to fall on Table rock, and caused a loud crash, which he distinctly heard.
