of East Main St. has received word of the death of his son in law
E.A. Holloway of Grants Pass, Oregon. Mr. Halloway visited in the
Tyrone neighborhood about twenty two years ago where he has man
friends. His wife died twenty years ago.

Beach, of Althouse, Josephine county, was on Sunday stricken with
paralysis and died twelve hours later. Deceased was an excellent
citizen and an exemplary man. He settled at Althouse in 1853.

1917; Grants Pass pays tribute to the first local boy to give
his life in Nation's service. One of the largest funerals ever
held in southern Oregon was the tribute paid on tuesday to Joseph
Borough, the first Grants Pass boy to lose his life in the
service of his country. Born in 1897 at Wilderville Oregon son
of J.B. and Esther Borough, he was raised from childhood in
Josephine county. When his country called for soldiers he
enlisted in the Aviation corp, which took him to Fort Sam
Houston ,Texas. he died June 19, 1917, aged 20.
