Welcome to the Oregon Trails site for Klamath County

ADOPT ME!!!

Website updated with new data Sept. 23, 2007

Hi, I'm Shauna Williams and I am the host of the Oregon site which is a branch of the main project named Genealogy Trails. Our goal is to provide you with free information that will help you on your search for your family but we can't do it without your help. This site is looking for someone to adopt it and fill it full of information. I also would love to accept any data submissions for this county to include on the page. Please click here to read about becoming a volunteer host and don't forget to check out the other great sites on both the Oregon page and the main Genealogy Trails site.

"The Klamath or “Clamitte” tribe of Indians, for which Klamath County was named, has had a presence for 10,000 years. White settlement began in 1846 along the Applegate Immigrant Trail, which precipitated clashes between the two cultures and led to the Modoc Indian War of 1872. The Oregon Legislature created Klamath County by dividing Lake County in 1882. Linkville was named county seat and its name was changed to Klamath Falls in 1893."
