Obit: Voltaire Gurney, a pioneer resident of the Siuslaw valley, was killed by a
falling limb of the tree which he was cutting down on his farm on the N. Fork of
the Siuslaw, 10 miles from Florence. The limb struck his head, reaching the
skull and causing concussion of the brain. He died several hours afterward,
before physician could arrive from Florence. Leaves a family. He was 61. Brother
of G.V. Gurney of Remote.
