| Last Saturday,
the 24th inst., a young man named Abraham Starr, living in the forks
of the Santiam, near Scio, was kicked by a vicious horse and so
badly injured that he died on the following day. Mr. Starr was an
industrious young married man and well spoken of by his neighbors.
He leaves a young widow to mourn his untimely fate.

The daughter of G.W. Foust of Brownsville, died
Tuesday. Grandfather Gross died at the residence of his son in law,
A.K. Thompson, the same day.
