An Indian boy named Barnhart accidentally shot a young Indian named Will Helm on McKay creek in Umatilla county a few days ago.     James Jordan, of Birch creek, stated recently at Pendleton that one band of his sheep has increased nearly 100 per cent for the season.

The brick yards at Weston have been increased in capacity and they now employ a very large number of men, and burn out an immense quantity of good brick.

The present council being elected on an economical platform, says the Pendleton East Oregonian, is endeavoring to carry the principals out in ever practicable way. It has been thought possible to reduce the day police force for a time, at least, without menacing the welfare of the city, and the marshal was instructed at Saturday evening's meeting to do so if he thought proper.

Speculation is rife over the probable action of the convention of the Union party, which convenes in Pendleton Wednesday. From the best information obtainable, reports the East Oregonian of the 21st, it is learned that the convention will indorse certain candidates on both tickets for county offices and will probably instruct its delegates to the state convention to indorse Pennoyer.
