A.J. VAN VALKENBURG MARRIED

     A.J. Van Valkenburg, for several years division superintendent on the Soo with headquarters at Abbotsford and later in this city, was married at La Grande, Oregon, last Thursday, to Miss Della Van Strattem of Appleton. The bride is quite well known locally, she being a sister of the first Mrs. Van Valkenburg and she and her mother acted as housekeepers for the gentleman after the death of their daughter and sister.
     Mr. Van Valkenburg resigned as superintendent a year or more ago and until recenlty had been touring various portions of the country. He has been located at La Grande for a short time, filling the position of train dispatcher for the Oregon Railway and Navigation Co. Many old friends "back east" will extend their felicitations.

POPULAR YOUNG MAN MARRIED
     One of the prettiest weddings of the season was sermonized at La Grande, Oregon on November 30th Thanksgiving Day, when Miss Myrtle F. Long and Elbert W. Eastman were joined in wedlock at 7:30 p.m., at the First Christian Church. Two hundred and fifty people were present to witness the beautiful ceremony. The decorations were evergreens and chrysanthemums. In the front was a large arch of yellow chrysanthemums and Oregon grape.
     Promptly at 7:30 Miss Sarah Smith, an accomplished musician of La Grande, began Mendlesom's Wedding March. The bride and groom were led to the alter by Vivian Penewell, a little two year old flower girl. She carried a small basket of flowers and the ring. At the alter the pretty little girl handed the groom the ring who placed it on the bride's finger and ceremony was then performed by Rev. H.L. Ford.
     The bride was beautifully gowned in chiffon taffeta, white satin slippers and a silk slippers and a silk bridal veil, decorated with orange blossoms.
     At 7:45 congratulations were in order and the 250 guests surged forward and wrung the hands of the bride and groom wishing them happy and prosperous days. They departed on the 8:25 train for Soda Springs.
     The happy young couple arrived in Soda Springs Friday afternoon to spend a week with the ------ Mr. and Mrs. L.C. ------.
     The groom is a rising young attorney at La Grande. He was resident of Soda Springs for a number of years and has a legion of friends here who will wish for him and bride a long life of happiness and the best of good luck.
