Last Will and Testament of William Goodwin Dallas City Oregon
In the name of God, Amen. I, William Goodwin of Dallas City County of Wasco and State of Oregon, in the sixty-eighth year of life, and being of sound and disposing mind and memory, and not acting under duress, _____, fraud, or under influence of any person whatever, do make, publish, and declare this my last will and testament, in manner following, that is to say: First. I direct that my body be decently buried with proper regard to my station and condition in life, and the circumstances of my estate. Secondly. I direct that the executrix hereafter named, as soon as she has sufficient funds in her hands, pay my funeral expenses and the expenses of my last sickness, and the allowance made _____ my family. Thirdly. I give and bequest to my Elder son-William Goodwin, Junior now of Washington territory-City of Yakima-or if he be dead at the time of my decease to his heirs real or prospective the sum of one dollar. Fourthly. I give and bequeath to my younger son-John Wesley Goodwin also of Yakima City-Washington Territory-or if he be dead at the time of my decease to his heirs real or prospective, the sum of one dollar. Fifthly. As a just recognition of her untiring devotion and care for her mother and my wife so long an invalid and as an evidence of my appreciation of her affection for me, I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Ruth Draper, wife of H.H. Draper-of Dalles City, County of Wasco and State of Oregon all of the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate, goods and chattels of whatever kind of nation, owned by me at the time of my death. Lastly. I hereby nominate and appoint my daughter Jane Ruth Draper, sole executrix, without bond, of this my last Will and Testament, and hereby give her power to sell all or any of my estate, without an order of court, and I hereby revoke all former wills by me made. I witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this twelfth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand, eight hundred and eighty-five. William Goodwin L.S.
The foregoing instrument, consisting of two payers besides this, was at the date hereof, by the said William Goodwin, signed and sealed and published as, and declared to be, his last Will and Testament, in presence of us, who, at his request, and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
