Yamhill County Oregon
Genealogy & History
As you can
see this county is up for adoption which means
it needs someone to fill it with all kinds of
free information. That is our goal here at the
Genealogy Trails and we need lots of help to
make that happen. Please check out the
volunteer page to read about
taking on a county yourself.
Until we can
find a permanent host I would be happy to
accept any contributions to this county. I
will also be adding as much new information as
I can. You can click on the logo above to
explore the other states that make up this
project! I hope that in these pages you can
find something that helps you in your search.
If you have any comments, questions or
contributions please email

County was created in 1843 as one of Oregonís
original four districts. Its present
boundaries were established in 1860. The
county was named after the Yamhelas, members
of the Kalapuya Indian family, who lived along
the Yamhill River in the western Willamette
overlooking Mt. Hood
